How does your game fit the theme?
In the game, the player is tasked with getting a machine started. However, a far greater connection is that this is my first 3D game and also my first time using blender for models. This jam was an opportunity to "Just Get Started" learning about a brand-new dimension of game development.

This was a blast, I really enjoyed completing all of the puzzles in this game! I will admit, finding the 4th electronic piece took me longer than it should have XD
Wow, though I did have a bit of a tough time figuring out what to do at first, in the end I did solve all the puzzles! I did do a bit of peeking at Shovel's stream, but I had a great time (trying to) solve all the puzzles :D Incredible game!
I GOT STUCK AT THE ELECTRONIC PART 😭😭😭 The game’s so good so far, but I just can’t seem to fit in the four pieces, it’s so frustrating!! That said, I’m determined to finish it. The game really reminds me of The Room in the best way possible.
Since there’s not much time left to rate, I’ll base my rating on what I’ve played so far, I absolutely love it. The puzzles are so satisfying to solve, the progression feels great, and the worldbuilding through the journal is a nice touch. I especially love how the journal reflects the alchemist’s personality.
The visuals are clear, and the sound effects are well done. It’s genuinely a fantastic game… if only I wasn’t such a big dumbo. Really well made for a first puzzle game! Great job!
I’m so glad you enjoyed! The electricity puzzle does have some tricks to solve it faster, but no hints or anything. Potentially a reason not to use those kinds of puzzles in escape rooms maybe tbh.
If you do ever give it another spin, try testing out which pieces can possibly go in the starting position and the end position and rule them out from there! You got this!
Realy good game, it could be good to have a sensivity changer or something like that.
I've created a new build that I'll upload after the jam that includes a settings menu, so hopefully the sensitivity problem will soon be amended!
I really liked the puzzles, it took me a long time to finish this but it was nice. All the feedback that i could give i saw that other comments already said so i'll just say great and fun and challenging game!!
Sensivity gave me naussea! but congrats I liked
Sensitivity will be fixed in a patch first thing after the jam!
Reminiscent of old 3D puzzle games. I quite liked reading about each ingredient and trying to figure out what they'd be used for.
I know it has already been mentioned but the camera-related controls could use some improvement. The turning speed was very fast and having to click the ingredients table twice to pick up a single ingredient and then clicking twice again to return was inconvenient.
Another nitpick would be Reliyad's Fall. I kinda stumbled upon it but in hindsight the way it was hinted at was clever. What was less obvious was it not being the fuel. Two times before that puzzle, I was presented with a problem and, after some reading, a somewhat clear solution (pun not intended). Some sort of feedback that Reliyad's Fall was not what I needed as fuel would've been nice. Perhaps the well known dialogue from the previously mentioned old puzzle games, like "I can't do that.", "That doesn't make sense", "That doesn't fit there.", "Nuh uh". "I don't know how to do that.", "No.".
... I might be getting off track.
Other than that, the puzzles were really well designed
I'm putting together a new build to upload after the jam ends, and this comment is why I added a little "incorrect" buzzer sound when trying to use an item in the wrong place.
Very fun to play, although the camera movement was annoying.
Great game! I ended up playing this with a friend that happened to be watching me, which saved me from the number puzzle, lol. I really liked the word puzzles/clues from the journal entries, especially about the other alchemists (me and my homies hate Belinthor), felt like natural world/lore building. Enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and I think the 8 bit sounds added to that. Crazy impressive that this is your first game learning blender and 3D. Congrats on making a great game and looking forward to more.
So glad you enjoyed! I was afraid of blender at first, but the further into this project I got, the more it just started to be fun. I know I still have a long way to go when it comes to creating detailed models, and certainly character modeling, but I'm now more confident I'll be able to figure it out!
I saw this one on the stream and wanted to come try it to enjoy the atmosphere. I looove the environment you created, the colors, the skybox, the eerie tower. The puzzles are really interesting and clever (even if the stream spoiled them for me). Great job, Pickle!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the atmosphere, since that's something I particularly was focused on early in development. I think I'll be adding another puzzle (and potentially more) to it if I want to release it on steam, so stay tuned!
I will!
I love escape rooms, and this one is great! Nothing too high-rent, but a great variety of puzzles and reasonable difficulty for a game jam game. I can see why it comes recommended so highly. That one electronic part nestled on the floor between two boxes was a bit rude, but other than that, I had a great time with this one.
I was thinking of adding a note to the panel puzzle that says there are four pieces, maybe that would get people looking without giving it away?
To be honest, I find the "look in every nook and cranny until you find the one thing you're missing" style of puzzle to be really unfun. It would have helped to know that there were four pieces, yes, but even after I knew there had to be a fourth, it took me several minutes to find it. If you were willing to put even more work into this game than you already must have, then my recommendation would be to lock it behind another alchemy or mathematics puzzle. Those were really neat! But if that's too much, than all I can really think of would be to put it in a less concealed spot. Then again, nobody else seems to have had trouble with it, so perhaps chalk that up to a difference in sensibility. I reiterate, though, I loved the game on the whole.
If I upload the game to steam, I definitely will add another puzzle for that piece, you aren’t the only one who thought it was a bit lame to just hide one.
Indeed an interesting game. I like the idea of searching the room itself for materials and figuring out how to make this work. Nice! The camera movement could have been smoother.
Congrats for your first 3D game. It was well done in most aspects.
Just saw it on stream, I think some boxes in the journal to be able to write numbers as you go would help keep you immersed. Loved it!
ooh good idea! I’ll see about adding that after the jam
Choosing 3d for a jam is always impressive , the mechanics of the game itself are fun . Cons : i was lost in the game so many times because of my small brain. :D
Interesting game. Could use some refinement in the mouse controls. It was pretty jumpy and made it hard to navigate.
Great puzzle game! For me it was kind of challenging, but I was so glad when I figured out the puzzles)))
Amazing work! Looking for more puzzle games from you))
Aww thanks! I guess I have to make more, now that I have someone waiting for it.
Very interesting game, reminds me of an escape room with many puzzles to solve and some deviously hidden pieces to find. The puzzles are challenging, some extremely so. Atmosphere and notes are great additions and not only facilitate worldbuilding but also convey necessary information for the game.
Thank you for commenting! Since this is my first puzzle game, I wasn't sure how much information was too much or too little, so I'm glad people seem to be able to figure it out :D
This was a lot of fun! The puzzles all were challenging but rewarding once figured out. I know others have mentioned the mouse sensitivity, so I won't bring that up (more than I already have lol!). I really like the atmosphere too, it has a great vibe to it! Very well done 👏👏
Yay! I'm glad you liked it! Yeah... for some reason I didn't think to add a sensitivity slider. I might update the game and add an options panel after the jam ends.
I played the browser version and enjoyed the game very much. I liked the puzzles very much and the narrative you put in this game. It reminds me a lot of Botany Manor which is a really great game. If you haven't take inspiration from there you should really try it, you will love it.
Unfortunately I can't finish this one. I don't know if this is a bug or I didn't solve the enigma
Spoiler Ahed My intuition was to fuel the machinery with the Relyads Fall, but it do not take the input. I also tried to combine it with other stuff but it didn't worked out
Ah, well I’m happy to report Reliyad’s fall is not the solution to the fuel shortage. If you give it another shot, I’d recommend another scan through the journal for any mentions of fuel!
Regardless, thank you for playing and I’m glad you enjoyed!
Thank you for the suggestion, I will give it another try after the jam is over for sure :)
I wish there were settings for look sensitivity. (its very sensitive). That being said, it looks amazing ^_^
Yeah, I definitely should’ve added that option. You’re not the only one who had trouble with sensitivity.
