I really REALLY like this one. The idea of building through the corruption is great but i have some idea for a post jam version.
Forts are basically always the best option and maybe having the passively consume resources like money would really help because i feel like the game needs more of a feeling of approaching dangers to really sell the theme.
Another idea could be having corrupted buildings actively work against you in some way to really make their corruption an active threat.
I really enjoyed this one! Even though the corruption is actively spreading, I like that the game encourages players to go at their own pace and think critically about their next moves. It makes for a relaxing yet engaging experience!
I think some sort of visual indicator for when we have a card selected would be nice to have. As of right now it's a bit difficult to tell when I've properly selected one of the cards and can place down a tile.
Other than that, nice work!
really cool, I had an issue sometimes that the cards are on top of tiles to place, or if I hover over another card, the selected card was un-selected basically.
Great game idea and implementation. The art and sound designa are amazing. I loved the fact that you can slowly build a city basically. The logic of each card is also really clever. I wish the game had some music to accompany the gameplay as the world feels pretty empty with only the graphics. Great job!
Hey there! We greatly appreciate your review, thank you for playing.
Regarding the music - I spent plenty of time trying to look for something I would find fitting for the feel I wanted, but I couldn't really find anything. Shame, I know, but hopefully next time!
Very cool idea; loved the implementation of it, some UI improvements could be made to see which card is selected and other improvements as well as some music which would have been really nice but overall, amazing entry, well done
Very fun. I got lucky on the last level and was able to eliminate the corruption from the right on turn 2 or 3, allowing me to entirely focus on the left side. I found it difficult to tell which card was selected, if any. I wish there was a way to gain more actions per turn, since you can get money and cards much more quickly than you can use them later in the game.
Very very cool underlying concepts. I think you did a great job with all the different card designs and it was cool watching the corruptions spread.
I don't believe the game was catching all of my inputs. I like the graphics and sound design!
When do you lose in this game? I won a couple rounds and then lost, and wasn't sure why. Nice idea and good execution!
Thank you for the kind words. You lose when all of your city tiles get corrupted.
The concept is very cool, I do feel it need some balances , I was frustrated at the end to be infinetely rich and able to buy only one card.
You are actually able to buy more than one card per turn if you play the Merchant boats card. One more card per each Merchant boats. So then you would be able to buy more cards provided you have the money.
Thanks for the feedback and for playing our game.
It's so interesting. Not going to lie, a bit unpolished right now, I think you have a bug in there somewhere that does not bring up the shop between rounds.
BUT I see the mechanics working well, I think this can easily be expanded to be a full fledged puzzle deckbuilder. Nice!
Thank you for the feedback.
The shop not being brought up between turns is actually a feature implemented in order to limit the maximum amount of cards in the player's hand to 5. I definitely agree that it should be communicated better though.
Interesting title with a different approach to the theme. I have to say though, the cards are really hard to read for me and this stopped me from playing for too long. I suggest using a bigger font next time if possible
That is also a valid piece of feedback. I alao had difficulties with the text at times. Good to know!
The corruption was a fun twist on this kind of game, it kept the game moving and tense. Great gameplay loop, well done! I also wish I could see the actual value each tile gives me, so I can better track the consequences of my choices.
We're both happy you enjoyed the game!
I welcome the suggestion, that sounds very useful to the gameplay quality.
I love card games, and I love tycoon games, so this one really struck a chord with me. I played for a good 30 minutes, played through 3 levels. Fantastic job, reminded me of Creeper World, my one wish was for a better way to fight the corruption in the late-game. Awesome game!
Wow, you played the whole thing! I think we already won the jam if a player finished all three levels! :D
You are right about the late game, it could, for example, use more cards that are stronger.
Thanks for playing!
