Yes - I'm new to game jams!

How does your game fit the theme?
It's about playing as a kobold trying to help a computer just get started. Every foe defeated contributes to the OS loading up!

This game is fun and polished! The music and art are great and I found myself wanting to play more! Phenomenal job!

A fun, light-hearted game. I like the inspiration you took from Bomberman, along with the unique twists you added, like the snares and the old Windows style! Good work!

Nice take on bomberman. The art reinforces the vibes.

This is super fun! Love how the enemies are so distinct with each other and need to be dealt with in different ways. Also i like the different level types (my favorite one was the solitaire). Sound effects are crunchy, controls are responsive the ai in the enemies feel smart and the visuals are really good! Well done guys! Congrats on submitting your first game jam!

thank you for playing and commenting! I appreciate the comment on the enemy behavior, I researched how the ghosts worked in Jackman to determine the Virus's behavior.

For a first entry, this is pretty solid all around,  good bit of things to do and items to utilize that each have their own unique use that comes in handy. It's also cool to see someone else using Gamemaker as well, I am curious on how you got the enemy pathfinding to work in this game as I've never dabbled in that myself.

And if you do want to improve upon some things, I do have the feedback that at certain times some enemies would just stop moving all together, once there was a final bug on a level that just stopped moving entirely without any items/traps around it either (though upon replaying the game it seems like this happened whenever a bug would be frozen and eventually unfroze, they would still remain frozen in place). Also if used right, the block item can just stop an enemy entirely if its spawned where the enemies' moving, but at that point it seems kinda right for that to happen at that point and likewise will also stop the player if you walk back into the area before it fully completes (once I also had a visual bug where the sprite of the block trap became a red square with an incomplete circle). And then if you kill the final bug of a level and yourself at the same time, fortunately you will move to the next level, but there is a flash of the level restarting just before you do.

But of course, this isn't criticism against your game, just some bugs I found and attempted to find as feedback, because aside from that, from the artstyle to the gameplay, it was very much a great designed game all in all, especially for a first entry. I do also wish that there was a pause for the game, but I digress, it's a solid game with a good bit of charm to it all in all, good work to everyone involved.

Thank you for the detailed feedback. I plan to refine this game, so I appreciate that you shared this.

What an incredible entry! From the art, to the sound, to the gameplay itself, it was all great! I especially love how the game itself is like an old program running on your pc. My only thing is that the music was a bit loud and I had to turn it down myself in my volume mixer. But other than that, especially for a first game, this was amazing!

10/10 game. The graphics, music and gameplay all work really well together.  The theme of an old windows startup is very cute and creative. I'm not a huge fan of bomberman, and it had shown through at how bad at the game I was, but I can proudly say I made it to the Mahjong level. Great job to the team for getting such a wholly complete game together.

Developer

Thank you! A lot of the credit goes to the two artists. I'm glad that the art style and gameplay were enjoyable enough for you to get through some tough levels!.

OMG this has so much charm, love the design of the lil kobold fren and the pun on the name of the game, music and SFX were on point and I like the traps mechanic... AAAAH the whole retro theme is sooo good.

Ah yes.. good old bomberman....

Darn i forgot how easy it was to blow up yourself, thanks for reminding me *sniff*...

Hey im not in pain right now!

loved the MangOS, sounds like an alternative when support for win10 drops.

Enough jokes, i liked your game.

Maybe i hit mute by accident but i really missed some sfx or bgm. Nevertheless congratulations on your first game jam submission!

The game has a really nice aesthetic. The colors and animation style fit well with that retro PC vibe. The gameplay is simple but engaging. Great job, man!

I encountered this bug when I died once. If you want to fix it, here's the heads-up:

ERROR in action number 1

of Alarm Event for alarm 2 for object obj_game_manager:

Unable to find any instance for object index '11' name 'obj_player'

at gml_Object_obj_game_manager_Alarm_2
