This is so creative, had fun!
Short but interesting!
idea is good
but add tutorial :)
Hehehe, I realized that the upload still goes on even if the file is deleted so I was able to save the homework and movies, but you have to be very fast. After that I saw Mcfluff thought the same and tried their strategy but I couldn't do it, it's pretty tight!
Anyways, I loved this idea!! And yea 55 seconds before the deadline my goodness you must've been sweating bullets lol, I'm glad you were able to submit tho cause it's a great game :)
Congrats on having the new highest score!!!!πππππππ
So basically you saved homework, then movies and then?I am curious as to how you beat Mcfluff with a different strategy.
Tell me if you think there's anything to improve!
I played your game just now, fun game, but I didn't understand what the minimum and maximum year do.
Congrats againπ«‘π«‘π«‘πππππ
That was it, I think homework was 1100MB and finishes uploading just before movies is deleted, so then you drag Movies which is 1200MB and wait on the screen until it finishes and tadaaa.
Hmm I can't think of anything tbh, I'm not sure what direction you'd like to go with the game, but one simple thing would be adding music or sfx!
Ah thanks for playing! You're right maybe it's not that clear, basically it's how long the "watch" lasts, maybe I should add a note, I also forgot to show the range but I wasn't sure how to and ran out of time haha
Music and sfx are literally what I'm working on rn lol
>Submitted 55 seconds before deadline.
Wew, sounds sweaty.
This is fun! Short and sweet. Looks like the upload still continues past the game over screen, so here's the best strategy I could find:
1. QUICKLY save Family Photos
2. Keep your mouse over Movies and be READY to save it as soon as you can.
3. Save it
4. Wait 10 seconds on the game over screen, aaand:
You might have enough time to save Passwords at the beginning too, let me try...
Okay I'm back. It is possible, but I can't do it for shit. You have to be really really fast
Yeah, it was SO STRESSFUL, 2 minutes before the deadline MY WIFI WENT OUT!! I legit had a heart attackπ. Thank god I had my ethernet cable ready to go and the wifi recovered just in timeπ .
Insane record!π€― You COMPLETELY DESTROYED mine. And I'm the dev! I can't even count the amount of times I play tested it and tried to find out the max amount you could save. Congrats ππππ₯³π₯³π₯³π«‘π«‘
About the speed: yeah, you need to be fast by design, tell me if you think the speed is too high because I designed it to be fast and my mouse is set to 4800DPI so it's probably a bit faster than the one of the average player.π
In conclusion, congrats!! You beat the dev!ππππ«‘π«‘π«‘
Oh GOD that sounds horrible, worst possible thing that could happen.
I'll wear my "beat the dev" medal with pride. Thanks for the game!
Great work!
Thx! Glad to see so many people enjoyed my game!
Cool game! most fun time I've had with files :D
Thx, I really glad you liked it!!
Congrats on finishing a game!
The biggest flaw in this game is that as a player, you are not doing anything most of the time. Saving your files should require more action on behalf of the player, or the time it takes to transfer files should be lower. Perhaps a slightly different spin where you have to find a specific file to save is more interesting?
The first playthrough was also rather confusing since there is no introduction or tutorial. On a more positive note, the art looks good (its just ashame you left the default blue unity background in the back).
Hey, thx for the feedback!
When you say that saving files should require more action by the player do you mean in the uploading stage?
I tried your game too, one my favs from the game jam. Only thing I'd say is that there doesn't seem to be any consequences to have any of the stats low, especially piety. Maybe you could increase the hostility with which people treat you if you have low piety. Also maybe a date by which you have to arrive would give the player a bugger sense of urgency and incentivise them to risk their rations to go faster. Last but not least for me the game just blocked itself halfway through anatolia, I had the event but the buttons weren't interactable.
More action in the uploading stage would be one way, but more steps before that would also work. I would just seek for more interaction in general.
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions on my game. Ashame about the bug - I know why it happens (you can only click buttons if you have the required stats) and I thought I implemented a fix, but it wasnt a full fix it seems. I agree with your suggestions as well, and would definitely take such steps if there wasnt as much of a time constrain.
I like the suggestion and tbh I've been thinking about your feedback all day and I came up with a solution. I am considering changing the uploading phase so that instead of waiting, you'll have to click a button which appears randomly (or will stay in place. I have yet to decide) and you'll have to click it more times depending on the file size.
Yeah, fr about the time pressure. I felt it so much too. Was looking like this to finish the game.
nice game for the amount of obstacles you faced. you should decrease the amount of time it takes for you to upload a folder or allow the player to upload multiple folders at the same time cuz it feels like you can only upload a set amount of data. you should value what the folders are too cuz realistically you wouldn't care about game files as much as you do family photos. you should also add other directories like a pictures directory or game saves
Thanks for the feedback!
Basically you suggest adding some sort of subfolders through a directory system?? (I am genuinely interested)
When it comes to the multiple files at once it could work but I did want the game to require some decision making elements and for the player to think on the fly about which files to save to maximize the amount of data that gets saved.
I agree with you about having to pick better what the folders were tho because in the rush I did essentially just add any idea I thought people would want to save and random things. For example City Builder is there because I was playing Cities Skylines when I came up with the idea for the game lol.
And finally as for the times I must admit that those were assigned quite randomly except for the fact that I knew that I wanted mostly medium sized files in the 300-700MB range.
Thanks though, I'll attempt to fix those discrepancies for the GMTK Game Jam.
I checked out your submission while I was at it and i must say you have a very robust movement system. The slamming down on the ground while airborne is especially satisfying. Only thing I'd note though is that I found that the character tends to slam often into the wall without initiating a wall run. Except that, solid movement system. π
add like randomly generated folders and files too. maybe progression too? like the more files you save the faster drive speeds you have but bigger files. thx for playing my game btw
Hi, I'm the dev of this game. I hope you guys will enjoy it even though it's very rough. I would've liked to make it better but unfortunately I had to restart multiple times due to Unity not being able to build the game. If you guys have any feedback I'll gladly welcome it as I plan to add a few more features to the game and I am still a beginner so all feedback is welcome.
