Yes - I'm new to game jams!

How does your game fit the theme?
The player, Antwon, has to run past obstacles and back to bring some food back to his anthill. When he gets back with part of the food, he'll find out that he's just getting started. Now, he must run along the same path, but with more enemies between him and his food.

Very good for your first jam! I think it just needs checkpoints after every level change and a removal of the stretches where there aren't any obstacles. Maybe the first food clump could be closer to the start, then get steadily further away, then there would be less space to have to continually redesign each time and would make each level more and more daunting as the challenge increased. That, or just creating entirely new levels each time so the terrain could also be different, but I do like the idea you had of remixing the same level over and over, so you be the judge.

Good job on your 1st game. In that you are victorious.

The ant theme is good, but you aren't taking much advantage of it. There are long stretches where nothing happens. It makes sense if you are going to add more enemies and obstacles as the player completes multiple passes. Bit it is still monotonous. Especially if you miss the jump off the ramp returning to the 1st water hazard. Also, there could be more game mechanics that meet the ant theme beyond a standard side scroller.

Congratulations on your first game jam submission !

Controls felt good and suitable for the platformer we got here. Funnily first thing i noticed, because i wanted to walk left instead of right, that the HUD seems to be bound to the player instead of the viewport/camera. But thats no big deal.

Great job !

Developer

Thank you for the congratulations! We knew about the HUD issue but sadly ran out of time to fix it XD

I definitely let Antwon down, but at least I had fun. I couldn't beat the first level, despite trying like 10+ times lol. I died to just about everything you can die to. A lot. I consider that curved ledge on the way back to be the game's final boss, and you can't convince me otherwise.

Echoing the comment below: I love a bug game.

Developer

Thank you for playing our game, Antwon forgives you!

That curved ledge has gotten the best of me many times, I found that sprint jumping was key for consistently making the jump.

I don't know if fun is the right adjective, but this game does tick a lot of boxes and feels oddly satisfying, great job!

I think there's a bug in the sound track, after I died the first time, it just started looping the last part of the song

Developer

Thank you for playing our game! I appreciate the feedback, we'll look into the audio bug after the jam concludes.

I see bugs, I play! Well done, especially with you being new to game jams. :)

Thank you!

The idea is great, I felt like a worker Ant. I would love checkpoints! Enemies were a bit tricky at first, but the difficulty is fair.

Developer

Thank you!

Will definitely look into adding checkpoints after the Jam is wrapped up
