Yes - I'm new to game jams!

How does your game fit the theme?
Since you can't find the start button, your goal is to "start" the game by other means...

Very awesome game definitely went under the radar 馃く
Creative take on the theme using the settings as platforms were so cool to see, I like it very much, very neat puzzle game!

This game's idea is awesome! At first, I didn't understand what it was about, but then it clicked. However, I couldn't get past some spikes, though I'm sure that was just me not figuring out what to do. In any case, you've got a really original and nice game!

The concept for this game is pretty cool! It also feels pretty polished! Some of the difficult parts were annoying but overall this game is good!

Really creative. you did a good job!

edit: first game? nice! keep on making games!

Developer

Thanks! First one, but I hope we make more!

Really creative take on the theme, and you managed to make the game work with the part that is the most tedious to implement and many players overlook when going into the jam and those are the settings :) I love how intuitive the solution to each puzzle is and it really nicely fit the whole game, and also I didn鈥檛 expect the game to continue, well as it did, I expected it to take on some more of the settings, like you could have a whole pause menu to play with other than just placing the moving sliders, but overall a really neat puzzle-like game

For a first time game jam, this is very impressive all around. From a cool set of puzzles to start, that reminds me of those games where you take a statement literally and make a puzzle out of it, it translates quite well with some unique mechanics. As another dev that uses Gamemaker as well, I'm also curious on some of your code, like the resolution shifting bounce you managed to work with. The art style also complements the game overall well. It was also a pleasant surprise to see that the game did actually continue beyond the first menu puzzle. I do kinda wish the spikes hitbox wasn't as unforgiving as it is, but that may just be because I'm not great at platformers like these. I hope that it can be expanded upon or perhaps be the groundwork to a game to come, the creativity and ideas are all great to see. But that all said, fantastic work, kudos to you all for this.

Thank you for the feedback! We plan to expand this idea and make a full game. The art was made by my parter, so props to him. About the code, XD I just spawned an invisible object  (when you release the mouse button or you stop moving it)  that tracks the slider speed and applies it to the vertical speed of the player (just if its negative, to go up). Thank you for playing!

PS. The spikes are a little bit hard lol

Well it's certainly an excellent start for a game, the creativity in it even began to churn my own creative gears for other mechanics that would be neat to see in it, though with what creativity you've already mentioned that you couldn't quite get into the game in time, my ideas probably are already covered by y'alls. And huh, that is a solid way to make that resolution-jump, that's a good one. Do let me know how that full game comes along

Developer

I am very happy that you liked the art style!

I don't know what I expected going into this game but it definitely wasn't that! I had a lot of fun, especially in the first part of the game and solving those puzzles. Very creative and very good job for your first game jam!

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it at the end!

Cool game

interesting

Developer

Thanks!

Very unique and creative! Although the "video settings" part was a bit frustrating, I did like all the unique spin on this interpretation of the theme.

I also found a bug though. After I got to the "actual game" (?) part, I died twice to the traps and then the movement controls stop working but I can still slide the "platforms" but not move my character.

Developer(+1)

Oh, sorry for the bug. When that happens you can press R to restart the level. I wanted the player to discover things alone in the Video Settings part, but I will add some help on a full version later! Thanks for the feedback!

Very creative! I want to speak about the cool mechanics but I can't spoil here! Anyway really good ideas !

Developer

Thank you so much, I am very sure your game is so creative too by the name, I will take a look there too.

You two are amazing! Good game, good art, fits the theme perfectly, 10/10, no notes!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! Love you game as well! Really nice pixel art!

Developer

I am very grateful, more game jams are incoming!

I really enjoyed this game, especially the beginning where you were going through the menus getting the different key parts. Great work!

Developer

Thank you! That's my favorite part too... I didn't have much time to finish and make everything I wanted after the door. But I'm glad you liked it!

That was really good! I loved it. I did not read the instructions before I started so I was baffled for a little bit, but it felt soo good to figure stuff out on my own. I love the way you introduced the sliders mechanic and then used it in the second half of the game. I would have loved to see it explored a little more, especially if vertical sliders could impart momentum to the player, that was really fun on the resolution screen. Very creative idea for the game, well done :)

Developer(+1)

I think I'ts a better expercience to figure things out alone! But I will definitely add the momentum to the player with the vertical sliders ( That was my plan originally, along with some diagonal and really crazy platform shapes) but couldn't do it before the end of the jam. But glad you liked it!

nice game w puzzles never played anything from. Gamemaker I might switch

Developer

Thank you! I really like GameMaker XD. I totally think you should give it a try!

Submitted

Lovely game! can't even begin to imagen how you made this is 10 days! Lovely puzzles.

Developer

Thank you so much!

Frankly amazed at just how much was there, took me so long to get past the initial phase in the settings I was ready to rage but when i finally figured it out I was amazed! Never played anything made in GameMaker before, and then there's still a whole other game afterwards! Reminds me of old newgrounds style games and was a really interesting concept

Developer

Oh sorry for that almost raging experience. I think i'ts nicer for the player to discover the puzzles alone, so I didn't put many instructions. But I will keep up with this project and implement every piece of feedback you guys bring me! Thank you!

Submitted

Pretty good! Even more considering it's your first time in a jam :D

Developer

Thank you! I did put so much work on these past days. Glad you liked it!

Well now we started the game we need to know how to play and finish the game right? haha. No but seriously I love theses types of games and this just scratched an itch. I love how the brightness made everythign dark and the fps froze the key just so creative and beautiful. The puzzles were frustrating sometimes but it was never too much. I was close to quitting sometimes in the platformer part but I stuck around until the end. This was one of the games I playted the longet. Unbelieavable game for your frst game jam but also just a really good game in general Thumbs up x 2

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Maybe made that controls changing platformer a little bit too hard XD

Submitted

maybe Iliked that it was hard tho, but youu oculd add hints on what to do maybe?

Developer(+1)

Great idea. I'll definetely add some help to the player on the full version (I hope to make one lol)

Submitted

Amazing game! I love me some puzzle videogames, very creative concept and execution, when I realized I had already played for like 30 mins. Very good job!

Developer

Thank you!
