Yes - I'm new to game jams!

How does your game fit the theme?
The main character is a mouse cursor who wants to get started developing games. Based on my experience when I was trying to learn Godot by kept procrastinating and finding other things to do on my computer.

I didn't have any crashing levels, luckily, but I did run into other issues, such as HP drain, double hits, and a general lack of feedback when interactions were happening. There's a lot going on all at once and the gravity folders and homing missiles are extremely hard to dodge. Those missiles will 180 and come straight for you.

I like the concept of the game - avoid distractions and start developing - and the music definitely gets the blood pumping. Good job ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

Thanks for playing and leaving feedback!

Pretty unique concept and really loved the mechanics(enemies, obstacles) you made in this, There are quite few bugs which other have pointed too especially crashing of levels (so I suggest you to revise the code once) but other than that its very creative and fun to play :)

Developer

Thanks for playing! I’ll try to fix the bugs at some point in the future

The game is fun and the levels are increasingly difficult. Also, the struggle to start working on a game with so many distractions was real. Very good job!

Developer

Thank you!

The game is quite unique, and all the art is great! The tutorial is also quite funny. Idk if I'm bad, but I found the game quite difficult, but nonetheless, the mechanics that you've introduced is fun and chaotic. Great work on your first game jam!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Don’t worry, you’re not bad, there are a lot of people who found the game difficult. I was afraid of it being too easy but apparently I overcompensated in the other direction lol

pretty good concept. Took a while to get the hang of it but i got there.  Once i figured it out it was a lot of  fun, it has some potential for sure.

Here’s ours if you haven’t seen it yet.

I really like the concept, it's a cool take on the theme, and the story is quite fun and cute!

The gameplay has a lot of mechanics, and it can be a bit chaotic, but once you get a grasp I found it entertaining and quite understandable

A really cool game, congratulations!

The idea is super fun and cool, but the balancing's not that good yet. Some things I'd suggest to improve are: the pop up windows are almost impossible to close, since they spawn too far away from the coursor, and it's just too slow to close them. I'd also like to see some ways to recharge dash, the game would be so much better just by implementing that. I hope you enjoyed making this game, it is insanely good for your first gamejam and I'm sure you'll do even better next time:)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback! There is a way to recharge the dash: there’s a pickup that’s gray with a yellow symbol on it. It’s supposed to look like a charger but I’m not very good at pixel art. Your other feedback is true though, I will try to improve at balancing next time.

I absolutely love the idea and the tutorial/story is implemented suprisingly well, and I wish that some upgrades/stuff would disappear after interacting with them, boosts and black-holes could have been an one time event like bonus health and energy are. Overall a super fun and short game :D However some of the disclaimers you put in the game kind of lowered my expectations before I even got to try things out… I actually didn’t run into the problems you mentioned, the tutorial worked perfectly fine, and I’m just saying that the game might come across better if you just let people experience it for themselves… Overall a really great 1st game

Developer

Thanks for playing! Sorry about the disclaimers, I was extremely sleep-deprived when I put them in. I realized in retrospect that they were probably a bad idea. Well, I’m glad that you enjoyed the game anyway!

Great concept, and it was fun after getting used to the loop. Unironically I had more fun in the tutorial than the main levels lol, in a good way. The writing was good, I would suggest maybe lean into that in the future honestly.

I'm not sure if the music was bugged for me or what, but it sounded kinded garbled half of the time. Other than that, the presentation was pretty good, and yeah I really like the concept/idea, plus it fits the theme perfectly and is very relatable haha. Great job for a first game jam submission!

Developer

Thank you! I enjoy writing a lot, I’m glad to hear that it turned out good this time.

The music was supposed to switch to a different track at some point during the level. Maybe that’s why it sounded garbled, or maybe it was a bug, I’ll look into that. Thanks for your feedback!

short but fun game! I like the concept, very creative :)

Interesting idea and very related for most of the people here 😂
I love the protrayal of social media and other programs in this game, you did pull off quite a handful of features in such a short time, very impressive work, keep it up. Some bugs did pop up but the idea is there and if you polish this up, you'll have yourself quite a neat game!
As a fellow newbie, congratulation on making your first game! 🎉

Thanks for playing! I’m glad it was relatable.

The art and music were really fun! I did run into some bugs and some polish is needed but the idea is there and thats what makes the game fun!

I liked the pixel art and the game concept. Reminds me of the YouTuber who made stick figure animations fighting Windows components. Solid effort for first game jam!

This is exactly what my desktop looked like before the game jam LOL Loved the concept and thought it was fun to play!

omg I got jumpscared by the first social media in the tutorial xD Actually this is a really impressive game you've made here, do not sell yourself short on it! I finished the story and it was super relatable, but I was not prepared for how cool the levels were going to be. You have a lot of really creative ideas going on, like the streaming services that suck you in to them and other enemies that chase you around and folders blocking your path through the desktop, unique powerups and effects everywhere - these are all really great! I'd really like to see what you can do with more time because this is lowkey a really decent game with a very unique idea.

Developer

Thank you for your kind feedback!

Really fun game! I can sadly relate a lot with not being able to continue or get started with some projects. Good job!

Developer

Thank you. I’m glad it felt relatable, that was the goal.

Congratulation on your first game jam submission! And you submitted 4 hours 22 early ! Thats great.

The visuals are solid, as the sfx and bgm is. The game menu ui needs a bit polish, e.g. when you close the settings window the red x moves out of its container. But that being said - you focused on the main mechanic and that was the right choice.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for playing!

I like the presentation of the game a lot and the idea is very creative! I do think that the speed feels bit punishing at times since the regular speed is very slow but I do think that's part of the intended experience goal. Overall great job, esp for your first jam!

Developer

Thank you!

For a newbie to game jams, this is a decent game. It does take a second to realize what all is what, but once you get the hang of things, it plays out pretty well. Though if I did have to give feedback on something, the icons can get a but cluttered with all the different color schemes present at once that it can be pretty chaotic to look at, but if that's the intent, then you've succeeded there. Don't beat yourself up about this submission, it's comes around to being a pretty solid experience all things considered, so good work

I really love the concept I've seen this concept of trying to get started as a game dev a few times but you still managed to find a unique way to do thaso that's impressive. It was fun to play but all the levels were kiind of simliar to me, they were all hard chaotic and messy (which was good :)) but maybe some way of making each level stand out could be goood. Well done on you firstgame jam :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! The levels feeling too similar is a good point, I’ll try to keep that in mind when I design levels for games in the future.
