The idea of needing to balance faith in the cult and blessings (from sacrificing people) makes the game-play more engaging. Really cool visuals too. The "cycling" through sacrifices whilst holding the X key and using arrow keys are not very intuitive especially since arrow keys are already used for panning the camera. I think mouse controls would've been better for selecting the members. Also great job on the background music, especially since you made this game in PICO-8!

Really interesting and creative game mechanics!

Although I only have 1 action(sacrifice) to do, the multiple counters I have to meet makes the gameplay really fun. In addition, I loved the visuals & pixel art!(As usual, I have reviewed a lot of your jam games, all of the visual are excellent!)

One suggestion is instead of holding X, maybe just clicking X to switch followers is enough---in my gameplay, it took a lone while to switch between the followers, and slowed down my gameplay by a bit. However, this is more of a personal opinion rather than an issue.

Great job!

Thanks, I really appreciate it! I originally started with clicking X to flip through them, but after I skipped the follower I needed for the nth time I tried out something that let you flip through them with both directions- I do agree it is a little clunky though. Pico-8 is quite limited with its input, but I think the most intuitive scheme would have been WASD to look around, mouse scroller to scroll through followers and left click to sacrifice. Anyways- thanks again!

Have you tried btnp() instead of btn()?

Not in this specific instance- did you have any suggestions? Always happy to hear feedback!
