- Your GDD is short and to the point, which for such a simple premise isn't bad but would have benefited from a section dedicated to laying out the gameplay elements a little more. The actual game itself was a really fun play the way you integrated mechanics to the level select is a clever touch. While the difficulty felt well balanced, I did occasionally solve a level without exactly understanding how. Not sure if my Minesweeper habits just kicked in or if you might be able to add clearer "tutorial" type levels? I think if you cleaned up/developed the art a little more you already have a real special game!

Summarize your game!
Back to square one is a puzzle game where players move structures on a grid to ensure that every tile that has a number displays the number one.
Structures can add or subtract from the value of nearby tiles.
You move structures around by clicking on them.
Please explain how your game fits the theme.
the game's goal is to make all the tiles show the number one.
in other words, the goal is to get only ones.

Bam!
Very nice. I liked the incorporation of other board games. Difficulty curve was perfect. I don't have much more to say. Maybe add a GO piece where it flips from black to white depending on the number thats under it?
That's an interesting idea, if i continue working on the game, i may do that.
Also, i'm glad you like the game!
That was very, very cool. I love coming accross original concepts or interesting twists on the classics.
Here's a thing though. I managed to complete all 30 levels, but most of them—semi-mindlessly, just by combining a little logic with moving things around intuitively. When a level is completed, it disappears right away. I would like to be able to linger on and inspect the result I have just achieved, to better understand why the solution is what it is. Other than that – outstanding work!
FWIW, one of the games I submitted to this jam is in the same genre as yours: /jam/pirate/rate/3754576.
Yea, i saw a few people finish a level and be like "wait, what did i do ?", if i continue working on the game, i'll do something so you can explore your solution fully.
Glad you like the game !
Great idea! Always enjoy a good puzzle game
After the first puzzle that part of my brain that used to play Minesweeper kicked in. Very cool concept!
thanks!
the base idea was "minesweeper but you move the mines around so any number shown is a one"
Very clever twist on Minesweeper, super approachable and dangerously addictive.
Thanks!
I seriously enjoyed playing all 30 of the levels you've made. 100% favorite out of the games submitted so far
thanks! that means a lot.
One of my favourites so far. I especially love the way you switch worlds =)
Thanks!
