This looks like a lot of crafty work! Excellent comic-style introduction, great map drawings, and mechanism details. I think using the tide clock helps push the players forward sensibly. Awesome work!
Refreshing old school throwback. I cast detect magic markers.
I love the idea and whole style. A fascinating location for adventures. I do not have too many problems with reading your handwriting and I think this way of writing adventures is quite cool. Though the meaning of the text itself is a bit hard to decipher for me. I would like to see more projects of you in the future where you have more space to put it all together.
I love the art, it´s so charming although reading it is a bit hard, the separate text is appreciated.
Thanks! :) Yeah, my hand writing isnt the best, it was a good suggestion I got to do a separate text file.
Im happy you enjoyed it!
I love this art.
Thank you, Im happy to hear :)
I love this art.
The art is amazing, I felt extremely joyful after opening it.
But I must also say that the reading is pretty hard. I read about certain limitations you choose, perhaps you could add a text-only file for better understanding?
Thank you! Im happy it brought you joy. The inspiration comes from JP Coverts youtube channel and his drawings. He brings a lot of positivity to the roleplaying game hobby.
A text file! The obvious solution that didn't cross my mind. Thanks for the suggestion, I have added one now :)
Really liked that it's all drawn by hand and the comic on the front page is really effective in expressing the vibe of the adventure.
Some of the text is a bit hard to read. And I actually couldn't understand how the mechanism works.
Thanks for your feedback. My handwriting isnt the best, however sticking with the limitation I set for myself doing it all by hand I tried my best to make it readable.
The mechanism raises gates from the bottom of the sea that block off the arches of the trident, there by stopping the tide from entering the bay and reversing the flow of water. Instead the water raises up along the outside of the trident. Exactly how it works is only known by the dwarven and gnomish engineers that built it.
I hope you still found it entertaining
Thanks for the explanation, now it's more clear to me. I think I got a bit confused by the locks being inside of the chests. But now it makes sense.
Also I would say your handwriting is fine, it was more the orange background that made it hard for me to read.
Overall - really nice job here, I have enjoyed looking through it.
I have added a text file now with the relevant text, so it will be easier to read.
Yeah, the orange wasn't the best choice. Will change that for future work.
Im happy to hear that you enjoyed the creation, and Im glad to hear that the comic made an impression. Its the first time I have done a comic and my thought was to introduce the adventure and as you said express the vibe. The White Witch is actually the name of a miniature sculpted by Julie Guthrie for Grenadier miniatures in the fantasy personality line from the mid 1980s. I really like that line of miniatures and specifically Julie Guthries minis. There is a high probability that future npcs will be inspired by her miniatures.
I like how you presented this module. It has a vintage 1950s science fantasy feel to me, which is neat. The only choice I don’t think you should have made is the orange background to the text boxes, it made your text harder to read. All in all though, good job.
Thanks for your feedback. I agree with the choice of orange not being the best. It was a limitation on the brush pens I had available. Wanting to do it by hand made changing color difficult, since there wasnt really any other colors to chose from. I had tried out orange on a separate paper and it look ok. But once I actually started coloring in the textboxes and I saw the first one I wasnt all happy with it. I was left with the choice of having different colors (could have tried another) or just run with my choice. If I do another one, I'll expand my brush pens and chose another color.
Happy that the vintage feel came across. I was aiming for some old school classic fantasy feel.
Do another, don't stop now! Have a crack at this, I think it'll fit neatly into your new world! /jam/build-a-better-world-ttrpg-jam
I'll keep going! Thanks for the suggestion, it looks awesome :)
