Historical Accuracy
I know about the Vikings from sources that I don't remember at the moment. These are just generally known facts about the Vikings.
Thematic Relevance
I learned that Scandinavian sailors who made sea voyages in the 8th-11th centuries regularly raided, in particular Britain. The main active activities of the Vikings were connected with travels and battles. This is what my game is about.
Disclaimers
I used AI to generate a code that indicates the location of the enemy, because I didn't know how to do it. I also used AI to find bugs that I couldn't handle on my own. The AI also told me how to loop the tileset of the sea so that it moves down endlessly.

I really liked how many different aspects of the Viking experience you incorperated into your game. The art style was really great as well. Saying all that, I found it really hard to use the axe swing of rowing mechanic. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong but it just didn't click for me. Congrats on finishing.
Thank you very much. Yes, the controls are not intuitive, but I will not fix it. On the last day my code turned into real spaghetti, and now I am afraid to get into it :)
For the art I used Inkscape (and references)
The rowing mechanic was immersive and clever! I barely got a few clean strokes in though, and I think it could benefit from more feedback on what I’m doing right or wrong. I think this game clears it up - I wouldn’t last a day as a Viking! But it was a fun way to find out.
P.S. That aside, We don’t actually allow extensive AI usage on our jam -and we consider using AI to create code that you couldn’t do, and using it for multiple situations, crossing the line This fully breaks the rules, which has been stated clearly in the FAQ/Rules for the jam, as well as listed in rule-related articles in our announcements.
We are sending 1st time warnings to your team members to be careful of that for future jams. This infraction has been noted, and if this happens again, you will risk a ban for the jam.
Thanks for the feedback.
Do you mean the warning about the code that indicates the position of the enemies?
Competing against the other Vikings for treasure was cool, though they always died by the end!
That's right. My record is 6 surviving Vikings and 1600 total loot.
Loving the sound effects, the two-part activity breakdown, and the ability to customise weapons + weapon speed. Lots of little touches that bring home the ‘I’m playing a game’ meta joy. Also, have to give it up for the grimace faces and name tags.
Thank you, I am very pleased
I like the character customization and the concept! The controls were a little hard to get used to, it seemed like the sword wouldn't always attack with the up and down movement. Still, a lot of fun!
Thank you! Yes, the controls are very specific. You need to release the mouse before attacking again. And there is a small bug - the weapon will get stuck in shields that are lying on the ground.
