A very ⬤ -> ■ game

This art is incredible! Also cool take on the theme! lol your description for how it fits the theme is great. All the HUD looks great too! That's not common in a jam game! Nice work!

Also I'd appreciate feedback on my submission if you get a chance!

I'm with campak. Pleasantly confusing.

Developer

Pleasantly confusing is a perfect phrase and exactly what I wanted to invoke! Thanks for playing (and your game was great if you worked with campak)

Submitted

Oh, I just meant I shared his view. I think it's really neat, it's in my highlight collection for this Jam!

Thanks for playing, it really means a lot!

I'm not sure exactly what happened, but I felt good. From what I gathered you can throw objects, but with a trackpad I wasnt able to, they didnt carry the inertia properly. Despite that I was able to upgrade myself to a point where I just had to tap circles for a lot of points ahahah

A game that trascends words and a nice take on the theme, simple, addictive and evocative

Developer

Yeah, there's a throw mechanic. It's not too important but gives the player some more control. I'm sorry it didn't work on trackpad, I haven't quite worked out how to get it working with it, I'll probably add some buffering or something. Thanks for playing!

But for real now, really fun idea, good job, I liked it a lot, especially working my way to understand more and more and more myself

I really enjoy this kind of game, and this was no exception!

I feel it could do with a little balancing, as things got overpowered quite quickly for my play through, but it's tough to balance that overall when making a short game. well done! art work and gameplay is nice :)

Developer(+1)

Yeah I agree, turns out the collision rules are very overpowered and breaking the game comes pretty easily, I'll probably fiddle with the random generation to make infinite spawns a little more difficult. Thanks so much for playing!

Submitted

I'm a sucker for games where you have to figure out the rules for yourself. This was well done!

Developer

Thank you so much, I appreciate the play and the kind words!

Submitted

Really really fun one! SO mysterious, even the mechanics feel mysterious all the way to the end of the game. Things get really fun when you learn what is going on and manage to break the game. Blinking each rule box when triggered was a great way to get the player to learn what was going on. Very cool!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! And I'm SO glad somebody picked up on the little blink animation, that was one of my favourite additions.

Submitted

I finished the game and I still have no idea of what was happening most of the time.

It looks like a cryptic roguelike, but everything is pretty intuitive, so you don't even need a tutorial or an explanation! It was very fun looking at my screen break up in a thousand blue particles after making a game breaking combo lol

Developer(+1)

Haha sounds like you've had the ⬤ ➛ ■ experience!

Submitted(+1)

Awesome balance of mystery and intuitiveness. First run through I was kinda stumbling around and butting my head into walls, but the generous amount of trial and error plus the brief pulse of each box on trigger (this was a genius addition that tied the game together) gives enough info to the player so they can understand what's going on. I respect the commitment to the alien language even on the score screen. That thing with the teeth was nice though right? It was just coming to thank me for feeding it all the spheres?

Developer

Yeah of course! They're just a misunderstood creature, he means you no harm at all I promise

Submitted(+1)

Excellent game, super cryptic but surprisingly understandable??? Reminds me of Gnorp Apologue, really well done!

Developer(+1)

Wow, funnily enough somebody recommended me that just yesterday, what a crazy coincidence, am I right

great game! very fun, i love the music and  it was very satisfying!

Submitted(+1)

Extremely polished game. Very satisfying as well. Maybe a bit too cryptic, at the end I just kind of stopped comprehending what’s happening. Overall though, very fun!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing! I was going for a cryptic game that you find satisfying without really understanding what's happening, so it seems I got the reaction I was after.

Woah dude nice game break!

Submitted(+1)

This was actually fun! It was a clicker game with more strategy vibes. The idea of getting more little orb things by utilizing different shapes is awesome. 5 stars.

Developer

Thank you so much! I really appreciate you playing and the kind words!

Would love to play a web version of this or a mac-compatible one!

Developer

I had a web build but it was laggy unfortunately!
