How does your game fit the theme?
The core mechanic of placing defense structures on five distinct orbital paths around your home planet is directly inspired by this year's theme and we think its a solid reflection of the theme both visually and mechanically. The game itself is also an endless loop!

Fun game, i like the implementation of round-based upgrades here. My game is similar in some ways to this but you did a way better job of balancing the difficulty than i did lol

I love tower defense games, and I love this one. Well done! Great implementation of a challenging but not overwhelming difficulty curve.

Great idea but so hard to finish it.

Submitted

very nice, appreciate the simplicity of flipping the orbit to control your ships, and good ramp up in terms of difficulty!

Submitted

fun tower defense thing, your ships getting destroyed by the asteroids is challenging

Submitted

i do love me some tower defense

Submitted

Hey mate, awesome job, we also make a TD game, so i understand ho hard to balance this one, you did great!

Submitted

I love this take on the theme, how it's kind of a tower defense game. It's very tricky though.

Submitted

I like the game, it's a bit hard at the start with only 1 ship. The ship just missed the debris every round :/.

Developer

I do regret not being able to playtest more. It does seem like the first 1-5 waves are really just timing the orbital reversals with a single gunship. I appreciate you checking out my submission!

Fits the theme pretty well, and deceptively difficult, but I'm not very good at this type of game.  Ramps up a little too slowly for a gamejam game.

Submitted

A bit irritating at times, as i felt like i had minial input into what was going on.

All in all fun little game, great job!

+ The loading screen when starting the game is a bit ridiculous or am i crazy? What is it loading?

Developer

Haha, it loading the sound effects and particles. Without it the game would stutter when they played for the first time. I have no doubt there is a MUCH better way to do this. Alas the jam timeline made me put together something pretty.... questionable

Submitted

Understandable! :) cool entry nonetheless

Submitted

That's a really fun game! I made it to round 17. Great work on fitting the theme well too!

Developer

I am actually pretty impressed by that. My hiscore is 25 and I tested a decent amount. Were you using a lot of explosive mines? Thanks for checking out my submission! I'll check yours out before the end of the day.

ship doesnt shoot at whats in range

Developer

Uh oh that's not good. Do you know if it was the Laser Ship or Gunship that was having this problem? And are you certain its attack wasn't on cooldown? The gunship and laser ship start with 2 and 3 second attack cooldowns respectively, but can be lowered with upgrades.

Submitted

it was the first ship, it wasnt shooting at like stuff that was in last third of the circle, i found it annoying as it couldnt destroy some of them but yeah its not as that big deal

Submitted

This was our original ideal before we switched! We wanted to do a tower defense game where you place your ‘turrets’ on orbits defending a planet.

My main feedback is that the game feels a bit too dependent on reversing orbits and I wish there were some non-circular orbits (I only made it to the second orbital ring).

Overall good job and congrats on the submission!

I couldn't play it because the screen doesn't fit on my macbook, fyi. implement resizing to your aspect ratio for future submissions.

Developer(+1)

Ah dang. I thought the viewport was adaptive and would resize in fullscreen on smaller displays. I tested in on my M2 but that was about it. Sorry to hear. If you have a chance can you shoot me a screenshot of what it looks like in fullscreen on your display? I will try to fix it on my local build just so I know how for future entries.

Really nice game! Did not notice about the reversal at the start. Overall super nice implementation of the jam theme, would really play a game like this

Submitted

More of a technique game than strategy game lol

But I really like the game.

Always loved the idea of space defense. I just would increase a little bit the money earn per asteroid destruction and maybe create some expensive item to detect asteroids origin. I HAD FUN!

Submitted

Very nice idea and slick style. My only criticism is that the ships seamed pretty irresponsive and often didn't shoot at what would be in range

Reminds me of the fun I used to have playing flash games as a kid, very easy to sink some time into minmaxing strats!
