How does your game fit the theme?
This is a music based rhythm game where the control scheme changes for each new song, looping through the controls and the playlist as you travel to different background environments, continuing to explode fireworks to the increasing beat! How far will your loop last?

For someone who play quite a few rhythm game, this game had a unique rhythm mechanic! Yet i feel quite tired in each song because it take quite loong for each song. Maybe some balancing in the note can make it better. Great game thought!

Thank you! Yeah, trying to balance game for this was a bit of a challenge. Originally I was going to have different selectable difficulty levels, then I thought about instead having the playlists themselves be the difficulty levels, then I realized I had like 5 hours left and didn’t even have a Start Menu lol. So when I decided to expand upon this idea I’ll take that into account!

Well, I am one to talk about rhythm games, it’s one of (if not THE one) best genres IMO. Musical loops is something really present in the jam, and this was no exception. I’ve got a few critiques tho.

I understand the idea, and it is really unique when you look at it alone. But the execution lacked some twist, I think. The playlists were too long, and the game seemed like it lasted forever. Having one set for each level is not really engaging, I think switching sets in the same level would be cool. And sorry if you did do that, I didn’t play after the second level, but if you did, I think it should appear sooner. Making games too hard can be an issue, but so does making games “too easy”.

The music itself fits the futuristic vibe, but along with what I said, it goes on for too long. And the art is actually really pretty, the scenarios are good.

Rhythm games are special because of their adrenaline, their fast-pacing, the bumps, the effects, and all of that. And I think the game lacked a bit of that. Anyway, it’s a really interesting approach to the theme, so good job!

I really like the idea of a firework rhythm game. Im impressed by the structure, the menus are complete and clear and the different sets are a nice twist. I just wish i could get to the harder speeds way sooner.

This is a nice little rhythm game that is well polished in artwork, music, and gameplay feel.
The only change that I would suggest is ramping up the difficult faster.
It's fine to take the first 30 seconds slow to let the player get used to the game; but I'd like to be feeling a bit overwhelmed in a rhythm game by the 2 minute mark.

Fun Rhythm game

I love rhythm games, and this is a great base for one! I like the concept of a VSRG that's not just guitar hero, and I think this could be improved to be an amazing rhythm game! I think you could definitely benefit from more polish, like the missiles doing something whenever you hit a missile successfully. Additionally, I think it would be good to have an additional distinction between the missile types, as if you have 2 missiles close to the opposite edges of the screen the gameplay feels a bit unfair. For example, maybe left and right missiles could come in moving to the left or right a little bit so you can distinguish them more easily, and some could come in faster as well. However, I think this current system you have has resulted in good gameplay, and it is a good rhythm game base, especially for the short time it was made in. I am not sure if you manually charted all the songs, but if you did, I would recommend taking out some of the break sections, as there were some 20 second+ periods in songs where I only had to hit one note every few seconds for that entire period, and some periods where the music didn't feel super well synced to the missiles. Great job though, most of the charting is pretty good!

The concept is good and interesting, but I think could have been implemented better. Sometimes I don't feel that the gameplay is actually synced with the rhythm. Adding more "juice" could help the game feel better (even simple stuff like making the background or the rockets pulse to the beat of the song surely will elevate the experience). Overall, you have a great foundation here, and I do hope you keep building upon it.

Thank you for the feedback! Yeah, and I think I know what you are talking about where some areas feel like they arent "synced". The way it is implemented is that runs calculations against the Spectrum Data to find the peaks and the threshold to allow a rocket to be launched lowers over time (Or well it looks 2 seconds ahead as the rocket takes exactly 2 seconds from being fired to reach the center of the line but still). So like it is mathematically synced, but I completely understand what you are saying. lol

And yep, I'll defiantly keep the idea of adding more visual elements to match the pulse/rhythm of the music for when I decide to expand upon this concept!  Thank you for your feedback! : )
