Really cool concept and a fresh twist on tower defense — really enjoyed it!

A really cool concept. I was mostly spamming snares, and it worked surprisingly well, but I see the strategy for this game getting more complex post-jam.

Nice work :)

Developer

Thanks! I didnt get to spend much time balancing, but almost all of that time was spent making spamming only snares not 100% the unquestionably best strategy haha. Its tough, as by default its much stronger to invest in one type than spread notes out. Ive got lots of ideas though yeah - definitely gonna get more interesting soon <3

It was so cool building up my tune and adjusting it to fight new enemy types! I wanted it to go on forever so I could build up my musical tower army!

Developer

i'm so glad you enjoyed! hopefully you'll be able to build for longer soon <3

Very cool twist on tower defense! I wish there was more fool-proofing in the beginning since I made some dumb mistakes and could not undo my last purchase or sell towers.

Developer(+1)

thanks! yeah, for sure, its easy to misplay and thats punished pretty harshly since you cant sell. i dont think that'd be too problematic alone but it definitely is combined with no tutorial, some bugs and wack balancing haha. all that will be fixed in good time \o/ (or at least most of it :p) im glad you liked it <3

Really fun game, this is an idea that we got but though that was too hard, but you executed it well, nice job !

Very cool idea, I love this interpretation of the prompt. It would be nice if the towers and notes were colour coordinated so it was easier to remember what triggers what but overall great submission!

Developer

Thanks! The towers and noted are largely colour coordinated - well the bass tower is more blue than the green notes it is assigned, but for the other three i think i colour picked the sprites?

So cool ! Even with a few things that were rough around the edges it still kept me hooked until the end, very original.

This is so an interesting idea and I love it! Took a while to understand what I was supposed to do, but after I did it was a really fun experience. Maybe implementing a tutorial to explain main mechanics would improve the game further, but it being a jam game I think you did an amazing job - congrats on doing all of that alone in 4 days! :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yeah, its definitely not the easiest to figure out :p. An explanation is in the description, but like, who reads the description XD. Tutorial is definitely one of my priorities to add soon <3

Very interesting concept! I echo the need for a new game button.

READ ME <3

Gotten a lot of positive feedback already, and multiple people have expressed interest in seeing me continue to develop the game. This was the plan anyway, so I figure ill drop the discord for my (ex) main project so i can keep you all up to date. Its very bare bones and made for my other game - dont worry, revamp coming soon. See you there!

Awesome idea of mixing drum sequences with the tower defense genre. Feel like there is quite of polish that is needed (need that new game button!) and figuring out how to interact with the game wasn't easy to pick up on at first. I hope you keep working on this game, great job!

I'm glad you liked it <3. For sure a lot of polish needed though i agree, i reeeally pushed the scope as far as i could haha. Just letting you know as i posted it after you commented, ive added a discord link in the desc. where ill put more info about the game if i work on it more :)

This is my favorite idea in this game jam so far. Perfect example of theme use. I can't wait for this to be expanded on. Who knew we needed a beatstyle TD?! Awesome - can't want to see more waves, controls/towers, you name it. Really great stuff.

Developer (1 edit)

Omg I'm honoured, thank you so much!! All the above is planned and more :) I figured id drop a discord since you and others have expressed interest, info in the description ^^

Interesting iteration on the tower defense genre, managing the towers themselves as well as how they each attack, placing them far apart to manage a limited note supply, which replaces the idle part of most tower defenses. I do worry managing buying new towers, upgrading existing ones, and managing your note supply could be a bit too much to handle. Definitely hope this gets a bit more attention.

Thank you, i appreciate the feedback :). Yeah, it ended up being quite a fun idea to work with <3. For sure a lot to manage though, yeah - although maybe there could be ways to offset that, like difficulty options?. I do plan on developing it further - i enjoyed making it much more than i enjoy my main project, so itll probably replace it haha. Ill do a post on my profile when that starts if you wanna keep an eye, if thats how itch works? edit: nope, just join the discord (i added it to the description) if you wanna stay up to date <3
