How does your game fit the theme?
Looping back to a spot in the Chronotrail your car leaves behind will loop you back to that point in time.

Nice concept and really fun with the drift mechanics, awesome work.
real neat lil jam game! Actually really liked the drifting as it was a challenge
Very stylish game — I really love the art style! The controls feel a bit stiff though, and I sometimes get stuck in walls (probably just a skill issue XD).
Simple but stylish
I like how the time looping incentivizes planning your route
The car's drift is a lil too slippery, but otherwise I had fun
Thanks for playing! The car's drift was largely intentional, because we thought that if it was easy and fast to turn corners, the player wouldn't do loops. Thanks for the feedback!
I think my feedback would be instead of making the car control worse to incentivize loops, make the loop time bonus more powerful
There is no set loop time bonus- when you hit your loop, you go back in time to when you created that point in the loop
The jump in the lvl 2 really made me go WOW, the mechanic of reducing time making loops its so good idea, congratulations!
Liked the game, only thing that the control needs some polishing :)
Thanks for playing! I find this to be the most common and largely sole complaint about the game, so we can tone down the drift of the car, but it was largely intentional, because the drift was intended to make it hard to turn corners. We thought that if you could turn corners easily, you wouldn't do the loop around to get a faster time. Thanks for the feedback! I'd also love to try your game, but unfortunately, I don't have a mac.
Controls were a bit tough — found myself oversteering quite a bit and stuck on edges at time. But the core concept is really cool!
Thanks for playing! We could change the amount steering input is used, making it easier to not oversteer. Thanks for the feedback!
This game is cool! I like how you can get extra time by making loops!
This is the first racing game I've played for this jam. Its fun! I like the way it connects to the theme, and the gameplay is pretty addictive.
its fun
Cool minimalist look and interesting idea for a loop game were you can get a faster time by taking the long way round. BUT as the car handles like an ice-cube covered in WD40, it's usually faster to beeline for the finish because you WILL spin out. Car handling something that's REALLY hard to get right.
Thanks for playing! The drifty feel could be toned down but was intentional for the purpose of not being able to beeline for the finish line. The drift was intended to make sure you wouldn't really be able to make sharp turns and rather should loop around the circular path. Also, the tutorial didn't include that you could press ESC to pause, where you would be able to restart the current level. This would be helpful for trying again when you make a mistake. Also, mistakes you make during a loop largely don't matter, because all time you take to do a loop is reversed when you complete it. Thanks for the advice!
Super creative! I made a racing game last year and I know from experience how difficult it is to make a car controller. Yours felt pretty good though! My only nitpick is that maybe there should be a reset key. Great job.
Thanks for playing! I should have included in the tutorial that ESC goes to the pause menu, where you can access level select and a restart level button.
Hey !
Really liked the game ! The car is a bit hard to handle but you can get the feel after a while, and the idea is really cool !
a really fun concept, 7.64 was my personal best because i dont play much driving games, but this felt really good! a really fun game, might just keep coming back to play this game every now and then lol
Thanks for playing! it sounds like you've only played one level. There's 6 including the tutorial!
really good, graspable concept well executed. car is definitely a bit slippery, I ended up falling off the track a lot of times trying to corner, but very satisfying and fun.
Thanks for playing! The car movement is supposed to be drifty (but yes, could absolutely be turned down a little) because in the intersections with a path that loops around, you are meant to loop around the intersection in order to be going at a fast speed at a better angle, as well as reverting time to when you were there before, rather than making a 90 degree turn.
Nice twist on loop, didn't manage to get perfect score on level four >:) good job
Thanks for playing! It's definitely possible to get three stars! Maybe the three-star threshold on that level should be 25.5.
cool idea! loop stuff works well too. car is a little slippery!
Thanks for playing! I've heard this a lot, so clearly the car driving could be improved, but overall the car was generally meant to be drifty so that you would have to loop all the way around an intersection in order to be going at a good speed and angle rather than being able to make a 90 degree turn.
Had some skill relayed issues with controlling the car on corners. The game has simple yet cohesive graphics, immersive sounds and original idea. Nice one!
Thanks for playing! Generally the car was meant to be drifty, and you weren't supposed to make 90 degree turns in intersections that had a looping path, but rather loop around the intersection in order to be going at a good speed and angle, but revert the timer back to when you passed the point before.
Nifty idea tbh. I figured there'd be a lot of racing track type games but this is an interesting take where cutting across your timestream reduces your time down, really found myself trying to get a better time over and over. I will say the car felt a little bit janky to control at times BUT I've heard the same thing about 20 times for my game haha. Had a lot of fun with this, nice work!
Neat idea here - I agree with others that the car controls are a bit fiddly, but looking past that I like the core concept you have going on. I wonder if it could feel better to have a count down timer instead of a count up timer, to incentivize you to still drive fast when you're on an intersection loop. As is, when you hit an intersection you can slow and drive safely since you'll lose the time when you finish the loop. Maybe reframing it could keep the intensity high?
Thanks for playing! It is true that you don't need to care about mistakes during the loop, but the point of the loop is also to be building up momentum when you pass back through in order to be going faster in a different direction at that point in time than when you were at that point in time before, meaning if you make some mistakes towards the end of your loop, causing you to slow down, you may want to try again to pick up more speed during the end of the loop.
I see what you mean about momentum, I'm more thinking that the rest of the loop doesn't require much of you since you erase any mistakes up to a point. Not that that's a bad thing, just removes some tension.
