Its clear a lot of work went into this game, so congrats on getting it all done. The art is really good, and I liked the “voice acting”.
From a gameplay perspective, I wish it was more obvious the issues I was making as I was making them. It felt like realistically you just had to keep getting caught, get one more hint, and then make one more change. I think it would have been fine if it was obvious that I left fingerprints, or got spotted on camera (a little popup where my hitman says as much) wouldn’t have ruined the game since you would still need to figure out how to fix the problem. Plus then the character would seem less inept (rather than the player).
Also, I didn’t feel the Loop vibe too much. I LOVED the time-change flashback, that was SUPER well done – but from a gameplay perspective it just kinda felt like what happens in any game when you fail, you try again.
Regardless, you should be super proud of this. Its very well put together for a jam! Great job!
Thanks so much for the feedback! Offering a tip system to the player was something we wanted to implement during the diner scene but just didn't have enough time haha our thinking was when talking to the woman you could go "got any advice on handling fingerprints?" Or some other prompt related to what the detective just told you. We also found it pretty hard to step into the shoes of the player -- when ya design the whole puzzle from the ground up everything feels like "common sense".
Also the time jump back scene was one of our most exciting accomplishments for the game hahaha
This is such an interesting concept, and I enjoyed trying a few different strategies each loop. I feel like it was a bit too challenging for me to figure out what I was getting on - I appreciate that you're given a hint at the end of each loop, but I could have used a bit more help personally. That being said I thought this was creative and an interesting puzzle to crack, even if it just proves I'm really not cut out for a life of crime.
Honestly, I had a lot of fun with this game! The car camera had me stumped for a long time, until I learned (more things). I really like puzzle games so I was determined to figure it out. You only barely had enough time to finish it and you had to be perfect, so it definitely felt like you had to be smooth about it. This is a very polished game too.
UI could have been better, for the art style it was very good for the time you had. Music was simple but fit what it was needed for. Only two small things is it was a little hard when you got stuck on walls, and the laundry didn't register that the pants were done right away, you had to step away, then step towards the machine to get the prompt to pop up. I really liked that you gave the feedback hints on what to fix about your muck ups in crime.
Overall fantastic game!
Another instance of playing the same level again and again, unfortunate interpretation of "LOOP"...
The art work is okay, the sound and music are neat.
I did not really enjoy it however, not my type of gameplay...?
Good luck next time though :)
Pixel art was a ton for the amount of time you had. Interesting story to tell not my genre of game but nevertheless I see the appeal for those that like mystery.
I think UI could be more polished up and cleaner and some of the perspectives threw me off a bit. Overall good play.
P.S. not a virus guys its okay to download.
Thanks a lot for checking it out! We wanted to have a mystery-esque/escape room style game while leaning into the humor of the whole situation. (Also anyone reading, check out Pontax's game too. Pretty fun!)
