Such a cozy vibe, then immediately a cosmic scale frantic vibe lol, what a contrast. I love the feel and visuals with the music, great all around. The gameplay is a little slow and it's kind of annoying how, at least for me, the sheep kept moving in a herd farther and farther away from the barn which made it hard to progress. But the vision is totally there and I still enjoyed my time with it. Nicely done!
Brilliant. And I got the giggles for real the first time I pulled out the shears near the flock. Incredibly well done. Thank you so much for this :D
YEEESSSSS!! This is awesome.
great!
I’ve only played a couple days, but I’m really enjoying this game! I would play more, but it’s much too long to do in one sitting, and there’s no save function. This seems like something that really needs that to be playable beyond the first little bit. The Cthulhu theming is hilarious and super creative, and the game world is gorgeous and brimming with personality. I appreciate the depth behind all the different mechanics and upgrades, as well.
I found that there was a lot of busywork in the gameplay. The lasso makes you wait ages for it to retract until you can use it again, and running all the way to the sheep across the field became tiring, especially because I could only hold 1 wool at a time. (Side note - I was only able to shear sheep when they weren’t in my pen. Judging by the game’s design, his feels like a bug?) In general, the game involves a lot of back-and-forth that becomes tedious. It’s possible some of this gets automated later on, or alleviated with some of the fun machines you build, but I didn’t get that far, so it was mostly slow lassoing and slow wool-carrying.
You’ve done a great job creating a fun game - the world is colourful and inviting, full of little things to poke at. With a saving feature, and a bit of that tedium in the gameplay ironed out, this could be a great cozy game to wind down with once in a while. Nice work!
Thanks for the really detailed feedback. You're totally right about the busywork—that's a part of the long list of things we never got to address before our time was up. Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you, you have no idea how much this feedback mean to us.
Yes, there are quite a few bugs that we wish we could have smoothed out, in fact I went back and in about 30 minutes fixed everything that’s been mentioned. The sheep are supposed to be shareable in pens, that one was just one box we left unclicked the the prefab 😭
As for the slow lasso, you can press Q to reset! We could have made the tooltips a bit more visible for sure.
That reset button will help a lot I think, thanks. I may give this another play post-jam once the kinks are ironed out.
While you’re fixing bugs, another one I noticed was that the tutorial prompts are sometimes a little off. The “pick up tools” one won’t go away if you pick them up before it appears (you can fix this by setting them down and picking them up again), and the altar sacrifice prompt just never went away. Might be worth a failsafe in case the game somehow skips the trigger to progress those.
Yep, we literally made the tutorial in about 30 minutes on the last day (and thank god we did!), we’ll definitely do another pass on that as well as balancing and getting the fun mechanics in faster. I’m personally sad that we put the sheep cloning in as late game as it’s one of the parts I think is most fun.
i liked how things were signposted! so that it was easy as a new player to tell where everything was and where to go. well done!
Really cute! I love the Aardman-esque characters and the explanatory doodles in the guidebook and the rope physics are really nice touches that make for a really charming experience
There is a lot in here and it was a lot easier to follow then I expected it to be at first. Very impressive.
Quite impressive amount of content and features for a 4 days jam, well done!! I had fun herding my sheep :) Encountered a few bugs, but definite potential there!
Looks like a really interesting game with a unique story and exploration vibe. It made me curious — what’s here, what can I do, what else is out there in the world?
I had to restart the game twice because of bugs and then I gave up, sorry.
The first time, my sheep was still on its way to the pen when the day ended, and it just disappeared before making it there. The second time, the day ended while I was leading the sheep, and my lasso bugged out. I couldn’t switch tools (but managed to make a few sheep fly after me). My inventory was full, and I couldn’t even pick up the sheep I needed for the quest.
So I didn’t get far, but after some fixes, I would play more. Lovely style and a surprising story. Great job for a limited time!
Thanks for the feedback!
There are definitely some pretty big bugs and we're all wishing we had time for another round of playtesting before shipping.
There's a ton of content that's locked behind resources that you can only get after your first day.
Cthulu feeds... Super nice aesthetic and cool concept
Loved the simple 3D aesthetic and the game concept was really creative! Great job!
I love it! verry funny game.
Feeding c'thulu is NOT what I'd expect from a sheep herding game, but I thoroughly enjoyed it :)
What a lovely and wacky game! Love the style, gives me wallace and gromit vibes. Great job <3
Yes, wallace and gromit was definitely a strong inspiration point for us. Thanks for the amazing music as always!
Everyone else, check out FlowerHead’s music! Critically underrated and the livestreams are nothing but chill music making.
I absolutely love the aesthetic of this game! I'd totally keep coming back to a version of this with permanent progression
