Wow, very original idea, i like it ! A minor drawback was the music, i get you wanted that cowboy lasso vibe, but i would have prefered something more chill. Gj !

I enjoyed the different knots you had, both real and fictional.  Playing with my trackball was a bit of a challenge, so I was delighted to find that worked with my drawing tablet.  It was fun with the trackball, doubly so when I switched to the tablet.  It would have been nice if there had been a full screen option, though it wasn't necessary to enjoy the game.

Pretty fun game! Cool to learn a bit of knots here and use it for fishing. The bowline is pretty tough to draw so I just ended up with Figure 8 knot all the time.

Funny little game with drawing knots! Liked it!

But the drawing of knots felt a bit off? It had some false positives on harder knots and false negatives on simplier ones. So I was kinda lost trying to figure out what exactly is need to catch a fish. Not a biggie though

+1 to the comment on the loop detection! We tried to do something similar in our game but struggled, so we weren't able to implement accuracy with the drawing of a loop. Felt like I was in a Duolingo lesson for learning knots and really impressed!

WOW! This game was a looot of fun. I'm genuinely curious how you got the loop detection to work from a programming perspective. That said, the mechanic is for sure the highlight of this game. I appreciate the leniency on some of the more complicated knots, and I found the game to be very well tuned. At first I thought I could get away with just spamming the most complicated knot but the introduction of faster fish forcing you to use simpler knots was a clever touch. Art direction is consistent but leaves something to be desired, sound contributes to the upbeat feeling of the game.

Congrats on finishing the jam, and well done!

Very calming! But got a little irritated that I had to draw the same shape 5 times to advance, other than that it was amazing!

Cute, great idea!

An excellent idea. Hard as heck using a mouse.

was not expecting to learn how to make knots today. difficult to make them the correct size!

I bet you spent most of the time trying to figure out how you detect loops! Which made me curious how you made them, because the way I thought is that you count left and right turns and loops when you draw them…

Other than that it was pretty fun!

I played the 8-loop and the last one (I noticed the wobbles are just a suggestion) the most since most of the other loops are hard to draw and I can’t be bothered playing accurately for the seemingly-simple one. I got upwards over 2000 thanks to the last loop!

Kinda wonder as well how you would handle in cases of those with shaky hands like wellregardedkevin’s comment here.

Also, HI STEVE!!!

Thank you, glad you had fun and met Steve! Loop detection was quite fun to implement, I did not think about counting turns and loops but that's an interesting solution that could've enable being less strict!

Basically, I've got templates for each loop, and I'm comparing how the shapes match for each of the templates according to two mathematical distances:

- a simple average of root-mean-square distances to determine which knot "fits best" among the templates

- Hausdorff distance to determine how well you've scored

Which, with some normalizing and rotations, works well enough IMO for a small jam game!

Oh that is very interesting to know, and it shows especially on the last loop being way easier than it should. Thank you very much for the info! It has been very enlightening~!

Definitely enough for a small jam game!

GOD this game is so hard (shaky hands you know). Very cute feel, quite funny

Thank you very much! I've tried to "flatten" shakiness but maybe some loops are still too difficult, sorry about that!
