Cool interpretation of the theme! it reminded of those adventure books where you have to go to different pages depending on your choices.

Yeah! I saw a video on YouTube where the person was showing a book called

Maze: Solve the World's Most Challenging Puzzle

(yeah i copy that name from wikipedia every single time)

and yeah check it out it is the main inspiration for the game (though Blue Prince was an inspiration too!)

Fun fact: Blue Prince is also inspired by

Maze: Solve the World's Most Challenging Puzzle

Very interesting game! I was clicking random doors by the end but it was fun. Great job!

Developer(+1)

That's also a strategy! As I said, hints are there for you not having to loop around in circles. "they can save you iterations."

The game's called Next Iteration because you go around in a loop, and then click the door you didn't click earlier, and maybe that'll lead you to the answer, it's like iterating through items in a for-loop.

It was a difficult experience, I had to check the spoilers :D Really unique concept, loved it!

Developer(+1)

Ok, i have a question. Should I create you know some sort of section in the spoilers where we go over the puzzle in each room?

Because many people don't understand them and just check the full answer :)

Submitted(+1)

For me it would be great since I'm not good at solving these kind of puzzles :D It may be a good idea, we can see how to approach each puzzle this way ^^

sorry I don't understand the pattern between the numbers

Developer

no problem.

WELCOME TO THE

THE WEIRDOS

"Bones plays in background"

Note: If you didn't understand it is a THE BOYS reference

Well... It took me 312 steps until having to look into the spoilers haha! This felt like the most raw representation of the theme, and I really liked it for that. Well done!

Developer

What was your time?

Submitted(+1)

Had i played with a pen and paper I think I would have cleared it a lot faster. Kinda funny that you mention how long it takes you to finish the game in the description :) you made it!

Great scope and a nifty idea!

Good job!

Developer

I made the game on pen and paper first, and then translated it into a video game.

However even with all the rooms and where they lead in FRONT of me, I was unable to beat it.

So to lead you to a little secret:

I asked ChatGPT to find the solution :((((((( Yeah I know I am a noob but how am I even supposed to make a puzzle game if I can't beat it myself :(
Submitted(+1)

It’s quite challenging, but it’s unique and fits the theme well!

Developer

I did not think it was challenging when I made the game since I already knew the shortest solution. However I gave it to a friend for playtesting and he struggled. That was when I realised how important playtesting really is.

Submitted(+1)

The idea is neat but it's so obtuse sometimes

Developer

Thank you ^^

Submitted(+1)

I love the idea, but its just so hard to beat lol, very fun.

Developer

Thank you!

Took me 72 Steps to get though this. It reminded me of old flash games I would play when I was younger. I can definitely say that the "hints" were about as unhelpful as you claimed! Most of getting through this for me was just keeping track of which rooms lead to where and using process of elimination. It was charming, and fit the theme well! Not bad!

Developer

What was your best time?

Note: Some hints are helpful!

SPOILER: The constellation hint for example, points towards room 7 as it is of a constellation with 7 stars. The triangle with an arrow hint actually means "base" (it points towards the base of the triangle). What is the base for standard counting? 10. So room 10. I made some hints unhelpful on purpose as I thought the game was too easy. I have second thoughts about this now though.

It took me about 5 minutes to get though it the first time.

Oh, and the music will haunt me for a few days.

Developer(+1)

I used beepbox to make it and the instrument I used is literally called "Dark Choir"

You, devil... I was planning to review several games over the last 30 minutes but I'm only reviewing a single one now. Am I happy? No. Am I satisfied? Yes.
54 steps and 2250 seconds. 6 steps and 15 seconds on the second try.

Developer

Thank you for your kind words :)

And yes I am a 😈. My favorite character is Raphael. My favorite song Raphael's Final Act.

However you are correct, it takes some time to figure it out, but it can be done in less time later on. You can beat it in 5 steps (see spoilers on game page)

I'm more of a I Want to Live and Down by the River kind of guy ;)
