Clean design and interesting take on the theme/tetris!

Really satisfying to play, the animations and style is very clean.

Really interesting concept, though I found this a lot harder than regular Tetris - and I’m already bad at regular Tetris! I agree with many of the other commenters here in that it’s just not clear what constitutes a “loop”. I had been under the impression at first that it would be essentially an outlined square, which I spent several attempts finding little success at forming. When I finally did build a loop, I hadn’t even consciously registered I was doing so, and didn’t manage to see what it looked like before it disappeared. That happened several more times for the rest of that attempt; I have no idea what any of the loops looked like, because I made them all by complete accident. Some kind of diagram, or anything really, at the start of the game that explains what the game considers a “loop” would help a lot.

Otherwise, this is really well-made! The Tetris theme remix in the background was interesting and certainly more climactic than I’d usually expect from a puzzler. I like the dual use of the theme: you don’t just form loops, the board itself is also a loop! (Though, it felt maybe a bit too small to me. Both in a gameplay sense, but also as in, geometrically I think I’d expect it not to loop as quickly. Maybe. I’m not the best at judging those things, though.)

Surprisingly not the first Tetris clone I've seen in this jam, but definitely one of the more unique ones. It wasn't entirely clear what counts as a "loop" though. You might need to make that a bit more clear.

You made a reason to rotate the square piece in Tetris. I love it.

So simple and so unique idea! Making this color loops is way harder than it seams at first, but when you actually get it it's really satisfying!

I love tetris and I was excited to see a variation of it on this jam! I can see the potential in looping the tetris board, but unforunately I just didn't understand how to play the game properly. I didn't quite get what constitues as a loop and couldn't figure out how to play efficiently with random pieces that i was getting. That could probably be just me though! One more thing that I have to commend is adding an option for colorblind people, that is very neat!

Your game is really satisfying to play and add a ton of depth to basic tetris. I really had trouble to make loops instead of lines haha

Really like the concept! I think maybe a good tutorial to teach how to get the loops easier would help a lot as well cause it's hard to plan how to make them

Such an amazing idea! Very challenging though. I wish it was a bit slower so i had more time to make decisions :)

looping tetris with colors, amazing idea!

This was a really interesting take on Tetris, which is something I’m a fan of. I did think there were a few too many elements though. The multiple colors, shapes, and the camera movement! It was a bit dizzying. I do think it was amazing that since you knew that, the color count was configurable. Amazing job for that! I think to take this further it’d be a matter of fine tuning the experience and how it feels to play.

Beautiful reinvention of Tetris. I had difficulty with 3 colors so I can't imagine with 6.

Felt like I was getting lost with the camera panning. Will have to come back and try again!

Very clever game and neat execution of an idea! (a bit difficult to get a loop, but when you achieve to do one, it is very satisfying)

Fantastic execution! It was quite difficult, so being able to first try a bit with 2 colors before moving on to three colours was very welcome! I didnt dare any more though. My best score was 650 with 3 colors.

I was thinking if there is some way to make it a bit less overwhelming, because you have to analyse a LOT if information to figure out where you even should try place something. On the other hand maybe that is what makes this game so great, I personally havent played a lot of tetris but for pros maybe this is exactly what they look for.

I also am very impressed with the polish on this!

Super clean execution of the idea! Feels like everything was made very intentionally and with much care!

I got overwhelmed quickly and I think maybe having a progression of unlocking the different colors would have been a nice way of easing the player into it.

Love the music great way of calling back to it's inspiration. The sound design overall was super satisfying!

I like that your game fits the theme in multiple ways. At the same time, I think the stronger mechanic is creating loop shapes on the board, and the screen wrapping doesn't really add much. If anything, the scrolling camera makes it hard to predict where the next piece is going to spawn. This means I can't pre-calculate my inputs, which inhibits my ability to build muscle memory over time. In normal Tetris this usually isn't a problem because pieces always spawn in the same place, in the same orientation.

On the other hand, I think copying the full roster of 4-block shapes from Tetris maybe adds too much complexity on top of the multiple colors. Since you have multiple colors, I think it's ok to tone down the complexity in other aspects so that the player can focus on building the shapes they want. As it stands, even with just two colors, it's too hard to execute on a strategy IMO.  I'd be very interested to see how this game would look with 3-block shapes, 2-block shapes, even single blocks, or only 2x2 boxes (like in Lumines), etc. Might be more manageable, and the player has some hope at improving, and maybe even build some chains?

Maybe a good reference point is Dr. Mario. In that game you have 2-block shapes, 3 distinct colors, and you have to make 4 in a row. That sounds super simple on paper, but it's complex enough to make the game a timeless classic. Compare that to your game which has 4-block shapes, 3 distinct colors, and you have to make a shape that is more complicated than 4 in a row.

Also IMO, if "loop" is the terminology we're using, I think it has to have a hole in the middle, whether that's a different color or empty space. This would add a type of friction that I think I like, because you have to be a bit more intentional about arranging your colors. It counters the strategy of grouping colors together, which seems to be kind of a natural thing for humans to do if you look across lots of different falling block games.

Very cool and inspiring idea, impressive implementation especially as a solo dev. Would love to see where you take it from here.

Nice game. Quite challenging, but really satisfying when you manage to pull off big loops.

I caught the music reference and loved it — and the minimalist visuals are just great!

The concept is super cool but it’s really hard and I’m not able to manage to clear any loops at 3+ colors. Maybe you need to get rid of some types of blocks? Or restrict some of the possible combinations of colors on a tetris piece?

Very cool concept, hope you expand a bit more on it!
