I do not do rythim stuff but this was fun nontheless :-) love the artsyle
That was a very fun game! It's extremely well designed and I love the main gimmick of the game with the beat looping and have the platforms change colors also. The art is very well done and of course the music is perfect! I noticed you mentioned you updated controls for after the jam so I'm looking forward to that because as a WASD player, I struggled at times haha! Great work!
Fun platformer. Good level design and music as well. Great work!
Cool platformer, I like the witch vibing on the corner. As for feedback I would increase the coyote time just slightly, but maybe I'm just bad at platformers ^^'
Thank you ! Yeah that's fair. It really needs some fine tuning, I'll keep that in mind,
Thank you for the feedback ๐
I'm glad you like it!
Yeah we love the witch ๐โค๏ธ
The Frog and visuals are super appealing!
I love it.
Thank you ! Our artist did a good job. ๐
Great platformer! I personally found the input very precise and intuitive, and ended up head bobbing to the evolving beat as I went through the levels. Love seeing a good composer + designer collaboration, nice job :)
It's incredible that the composer managed to make something exactly as we're thinking, and he did it super fast !
I love how the music gets hectic as it goes. It is my first time working with such a talented team, I usually work solo
Thank you for playing our game !
Wonderful music and neat elaboration on Celeste's casette blocks mechanic however the character controller could really use some work with coyote time, jump buffering, etc. espacially with diapperaing blocks in mind. Extra credits for making all the assets during the jam!
Wait, but it has all that ๐ฅบ
And they are really generous as well.
I implemented coyote time, jump buffer, variable jump height, improved control on jump peaks
That was one of the things I was proud of.
I'm getting really concerned about those comments ๐ฎ
Could you elaborate?
Oh wow then sorry. Now that I think of it, jump buffering was definetely there, so good job on that. The coyote time seemed to not work with platforms disappearing from under the character but I may be wrong about that. And I think one thing that would be good is to detect if the player presses the dash button just a few frames before changing direction and dash in that direction instead of the origin l one(hope that made sense).
Hmmm, that makes sense, yes. like a buffer for the dash, right?
Letting people change the dash direction for a few frames after it already started dashing, like a buffer or something. It could improve the experience if the person clicks on the dash button and directionals at the same time.
I think I did a pretty good job for a jam game, but in the end of the day our work can always be improved by giving attention to small details like these.
Thank you for the feedback! I'll implement those and then update the game when the jam is jover.
Insane banger music. but the controls felt really awful. Half the time my dashes with diagonals weren't working and i honestly thought it was a skill issue and I had to double check by opening my copy of celeste. 100% agree with the comment below me.
That's my first time hearing an input did not work.
You pressed buttons and it simply didn't dash? could you elaborate?
You only unlock dash after certain point in the game, and you can only dash again after hiting the ground or getting the dash renewal item. Other than that, it should work 100%.
The input scheme is the same as TUNIC for example, it should not be unconfortable. Based on feedback I already added WASD, but can only update it after the jam is over.
for some reason when i press up and left i would only dash forward, but im running it on my macbook air so it might be hardware. but im sure im pressing both up and right/left, so i double checked it in celeste, but again it might be my hardware. but the control scheme is a bit weird. i think its a good game over all, might be a hardware issue on my end idk
Hm I see!! I'll check either way, it should not happen.
Since it works well in celeste and not in my game, I should probably check on that. It could be a 3 keys limiter on the browser or something like this. It is worth checking.
About the control scheme yeah. I added WASD already but cannot update it yet. I'm also thinking of changing the dash button to z, q or even let people choose, when using the arrow keys. When using WASD, I put the dash button on K for now. I'll review the key bindings a bit more
Anyway, thank you for the feedback! I'll review the controls and make it a cool experience
this was a good game tho! glad to see one of my favourite sections in celeste again (i see the inspiration!)
Thank you !! Yeah, it's one of my favorite games of all time ๐
I'm glad you like it ! Thank you for the feedback ๐๐๐
It's probably a keyboard issue. Sometimes, when doing things on older or less powerful, or even high-quality keyboards, on online or high traffic websites especially, your inputs won't go through if you're holding down a couple other keys.
Saw your video on this, and had super high hopes! The game definitely delivered in the art and audio, I do think the spritework could use an outline though, but the music was super groovy and reminded me a lot of celeste if it was made for a 90s pop concert haha. The dash was a cool idea, but the controls, OH GOD THE CONTROLS WERE HURTING MY SOUL. You should definitely be able to just jump with up arrow and z/x because holding your left hand in this awkward-as claw so you can chain dashes and jumps is so godforsaken hard man. I also disliked the blind jumps you had to make occasionally, but they weren't too prominent. Fantastic game, but these controls need options.
Edit: I just realized I'm probably just supposed to put my fingers on z, x, and c and then my thumb on space, instead of just on c and space :(
OH I SEE! NOW I GET IT ! YOU GUYS ARE PRESSING SPACE WITH THE THUMB HAHA OH NO
I got a lot of comments about our keybinds. I already added WASD and fixed some bugs, but cant update the game until the jam is jover ๐๐
I use the index finger for space, and middle finger to press C, so it's very confortable. Gamepads are also supported.
I don't really like the idea of jumping with up arrow key since if we want to dash from the ground upwards it would jump and then dash, so I like to have a dedicated button.
Thank you for your feedback, and thank you for playing our game! ๐ I'm glad you like it! I'll update those as soon as the jam is jover
By the way, nice drawing. I see your soul hurting and I'm sorry but it made me giggle
Ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that makes so much more SENSE haha. And yeah, I just mean being able to jump with a key other than space (x or z could be nice). Great work on this game!
Yeah you're absolutely right. I think Q is also a good option. I may even make them customizable at some point.
Thank you again for the feedback :D
Very cool idea. The artstyle is great. The music is a big part of the game and it is perfect it also reminded me of donkey kong country music for some reason. I think the game gets too difficult too fast and it might be because of the wacky controls. I would also add the option of using WASD. Besides that is this game very cool!
It's funny you saying that ! I made a short youtube video yesterday about this game, and used DK2's Stickerbrush Symphony for the soundtrack ๐
This makes me very happy as DK's 1 2 and 3 from the SNES are some of my favorite games of all time.
Oh, you mean, the control scheme? Yeah, WASD would be good.
I'll add it after the jam is jover. Thank you for the feedback!
I've only played DK country returns and DK country tropical freeze.
those are real gems, I can't reccomend them enough
Very nice musical take on a celeste-style platformer. The ending was funny and the platforming was challenging but fun. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks !!
Just found out the ending changes depending on the device, I must have forgotten a delta timer somewhere ๐ญ
Thank you for playing ! I'm really happy with the feedbacks
Really fun and love the music, especially how it changes slightly each level
Yeah, the music is on point right? It was made by our composer, he made a really good job
Thank you for playing !
Super fun! The way you introduced each mechanic was on point. Teaching how to play your games on game jams is not easy and you nailed it, congrats!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! I think just explaining the controls is more than enough or most games
I love rhythm-based games! Cool artwork and a great entry.
Suggestion: I didn't find Space and C to be very convenient.
I'm glad you liked it!
Oh !! Yeah, I was concerned about that. I couldn't add WASD unfortunately, already sent the game near the deadline.
When the jam finished I'll add another control scheme for WASD, that should make things more confortable
audio and platforming was perfect, only it's a bit difficult so very good game
thanks!! I'm glad you liked it. Yeah, I may have made it too difficult, but this is where the fun is hehe
played though it all. it was SO well designed. it explains everything to the player without a word (besides the main mechanic) and levels designed hard, but not hard enough to rage quit. every time I finished a section I would scream in my head "YES". and the music is obviously a banger. bloody lovely, hope to see it in the top 20.
Thank you so much! I took my time to make interesting levels, altough for some levels the difficulty spiked a little.
I think we did a very good job but MAN, I did not expect almost 10.000 people to send games this year ๐๐ . If our game gets into the top 100 I will already be the happiest man alive. Top 20 will be a super tough fight.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I had a blast making it as well. I like making games I would play myself.
these tunes positively slap
Right?? Those were made by our composer @FirahFabe, he's super talented. The music he makes is top notch
these tunes positively slap
quite hard,but interestin
Thank you for playing !!
I had a blast making it :D
holllyy this game was difficult. i still had a blast tho
YEAAAH! I'm glad you like it!
By the time I finished making it I was already basically a speedrunner ๐
I was playing and thinking to myself: hmmmm, this is too easy let's make things more interesting ๐
I obviously overdid it ๐
Thank you for playing regardless! This feedback is super valuable not only for this game, but for my main game as well.
