This game nails a nice retro feel. Idea of your own bullets being an additional threat is intresting, but it is hard to tell what is going on the screen and because of that it is harder and less enjoyable to play.

Feels so clasic haha Love this!!

Cool retro large pixel aesthetics! Super cool pixel-loop effect. A lot of effects, some time too many. Feels retro, but much more complex, that's nice. Controller support - one of the very few games in the jam, good. Nice story, green donut story. All feels a bit surreal in a good sense ... LSD or is it LCD aesthetics.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Thank you for trying it and for the feedback!

I really love some pico 8 games! The visuals you managed are very nice particularly that edge effect you made.

The loop making it so you're own threat with the bullets is pretty genius.

My only complaint would be that the loop indicators made it very hard to read what was going on

Thank you for giving it a try and the feedback! I have a few ideas to revise the loop indicators, and a few other things, to make it a lot easier to see what is going on. I plan to update the game after the Jam is done.

That's good to hear! I'll be sure to check it out when it's updated

love the retro style and visual effects, and the music is amazing!

I loved the retro presentation, my only issue being sometimes there's too much on the screen and it can get a bit visually cluttered.

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I agree that it's a bit too busy. I have some ideas for cutting down on the clutter after the Jam is done.

An overall solid game. Gameplay was fun, visuals were nice, and I liked the story telling. Only complaint would be that there should maybe be a bit more feedback on taking damage since there there is a lot happening on screen so its hard to tell when you get hit.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for trying it out and for the recommendation. I agree that it needs better damage feedback. I wanted to include a brief explosion animation for each hit, and a bigger animation for death, but I ran out of time. I also think I can improve the sound effects. I'll work on these improvements after the Jam.

Soooo pretty!

I love the visual effects on this and the surprising amount of story. I died pretty fast and had to look up the controls but after that I hooked. Brilliant that you can hit yourself with your own bullets.

Is there actually a two player mode like suggested in the controls page?

Developer

Thanks for trying it out. I'm glad you enjoyed it. No two-player mode, unfortunately--the part about "friendly fire" means that your bullets can loop back and hit you.  Maybe I should revise that part to avoid causing confusions.

Great concept, love the cutscenes, and amazing use of visuals and audio glitches in the loop. It got a little hectic at times but boy did I have fun. And pico-8 always <3

Developer

Thanks for trying it out and the feedback. I'm glad you had fun.  The cutscenes are my favorite part.

This was actually so good. First, it really made me feel like I was playing on an arcade machine. Second, the concept of loop here is so well done. The fact that you have to be careful about your own bullets and go through an actual loop caused by a black hole is great. But there were some things that bothered me personally:

There’s just so much going on in the scene that my eyes couldn’t really handle it. It was hard to focus on one thing.
The music was great, but at times, some parts had such a high pitch that it really bothered me. Still, overall, it was good.

In general, well done, guys. You’ve successfully made a game that feels great and uses the concept of loop perfectly. But in my opinion, there should be some adjustments, like the things I mentioned above.
