I really like the idea behind that combat mechanic, it's a very cool concept that both players have a circle looping around and they get to attack when it overlaps with the top. I feel like the game is a little boring at the beggining, "teleporting" between squares instead of smoothly transitioning between them makes it a it harder to read the map, and fighting 4 cubes with just one weapon is a little too slow imo. But again, it's incredible that this was made in just 4 days, if you decide to expand on this idea, I would love to play the game later

Really great idea, loved the turn based mechanics. Amazing work!

I like turn base fighting games.  Its a bit hard to figure out what to do in the beginning.  Its a cool concept! I like the fighting loop mechanic.  Good job!

Really cool idea and well executed! I think there is room for more exploration regarding the turn mechanic, instead of just watching the circle goes around it could be somehow interactive to make it skill based! Congratulations for such a great work in a small time window!

very neat! i like the combat mechanics with the speed affecting how quickly the combatants circle the loop. i couldnt get the game to end and let me fight myself but thats also a fun idea! even though the visuals were mostly basic shapes, i still really liked the aesthetic of the game, voronoise is so nice looking ...

The game looks nice, but I got stuck on the screen while fighting the cube. I don't know if I'm stupid (probably). Don't see a hp bar, and attacking it seems to do nothing.

Cool idea!! the camera makes me a bit dizzy but i liked the interpretation!

Little confusing mechanics but I liked the character art

I like it, the gameplay feels slow though.

Nice mechanics, It would be nice to add mechanics that can somehow reduce that opponent has too many turns before you, so you could beat him by hitting some key too hard to sped your turn (that blue circle), otherwise Im still dying for tat bloody tuslakts in my wet concrete socks.

that context menu is way to nested but i enjoyed it

Love how you used "loop" in both the combat and the idea of replaying the same level over again. While the latter was a very common interpretation of the theme, the former is such a unique and interesting way to do turn based combat. As others have said the turn loop is something that would be really cool to expand on in the future!

Enjoyed the timing mechanic, but I'll +1 the other comments that having an ability to influence it during battle would be enjoyable.

One other comment -- the early enemies take a /long/ time to get through, with a lot of downtime just waiting. Think the earlier improvement would help with that!

Developer

Yes, thank you I agree with you

Loved the idea of the attack timings being represented by the looping and you being able to change the speed, I just wish there was a way to boost it like a small mashing mechanic where you could try to actively race the opponent's turn to go first and potentially avoid some damage. Overall had a good time playing, good job! :D

The goose boots were amazing btw!

Developer

Thank you, A mashing mechanic between turns to increase your speed is an interesting idea I'll have to consider such a thing for a future update. Also the Goose Boots are a little EE to one of my much older games

I understand what the game is trying to be but I think it just missed the spot slightly. Some larger UI would've been nice because I spend at least 30 seconds with that first enemy wondering what I was meant to be doing because I didn't even see it

Developer

I understand and agree completely, I have much work to do on the UI visuals and how it works, such as the UI being controlled by the keyboard and not just the mouse is quite janky. I'd also like to add better controller support for it.

Really liked the twist on active time battles with the looping turns, something I think can be easily expanded on. I wish the turns were a little bit faster or having an accelerate button. Cool game!

Developer

Thank you, an accelerate button is a great idea.

The idea is quite cool, but the combat is a bit slow and the enemies are a bit too overpowered, at least in the early game. Really mesmerizing visuals though!

Developer

Thank you, I'll have to balance the game better and consider some sort of thing to make the wait time per turn more feasible to the player.

really cool idea for a turn based battle! I wish I could have explored the game more but I couldn't get very good equipment before dying to a huge scary encounter, and everything takes a little too long to do

Developer

Thank you, I need to work on these things more but I think more polish and thought into the game will turn it into a fun little game in the future.

I see the core idea behind the looping turn scheduler, but the combat seems very much unfinished and unfortunately doesn't use that core idea in a satisfying manner.

I like the sound and the visuals are neat too, but the battle has way to much downtime and therefore takes to long because of the turn circle. I am sorry, but I don't have the patience for it when I know there are more jam entries to try.

Developer

That's understandable thank you for giving it a try nonetheless
