Captures the woes of the modern office employee quite well. My only critique is that is money system does not make any sense without an explanation, I lose money for going to work?? Nice game!

felt like work :)

I work in an office in real life, and as I was going through the first day I thought "wow I never want to do this again", so clearly you guys conveyed the emotion really nicely. The first day I worked I owed the company 57 dollars? I'm hoping it's a bug and not that I sucked really badly

REALLY GOOD ART

Submitted

The art is beautifully depressing and I can see the shell of a great gameplay loop, but unfortunately the game seems to be unfinished (which is perfectly understandable for a 4 day game jam!).  Below are some of the main issues I noticed, I'm sure you're aware of some if not most of them, but I thought I'd be thorough just in case.

  • The work instructions weren't clear. From my (possibly mistaken) understanding, you're only supposed to keep the forms dated today. Stamp the signature if necessary, and make sure the coloured stamp is the same on the form and on the folder. If this is correct, I often would end up throwing out every form I was given.
  • I'm not sure if work performance affected pay at all, I got $10 on the first day regardless, and got docked a lot of money (from mistakes I presume). I think I was left with $3, but at the shop screen I as still able to buy a lot of the meat noodles ($6 each) so money doesn't seem to mean much either.
  • I was able to work at the desk multiple times in a day, same with going to bed repeatedly without going to work, though that seemed to break the game and prevent me from going to work at one point.
  • There seems to be a needs mechanic, as I got a game over saying I starved to death. I didn't see any indication of needs, and the character looked fine/happy when looking in the mirror too. At the minimum there should be some kind of needs bar in the UI so the player is aware that they need to keep eating. More diegetic indicators could work too, like the character saying she's hungry/starving, or her looking visibly skinnier in the mirror.

There's a lot of work that needs to be done still, but there's potential here. Best of luck if you decide to keep working on this game!

Finally someone took inspiration from my life to make an exciting adrenaline filled game. Gray two room apt. without a shower, exciting paper stamping job, finishing my day making -25 money and then eating the whole fridge. Thats how I like it! I don't normally like these kinds of games but it kept me playing. Amazing art style my favorite was the coffee making scene. What annoyed me a bit was the long transitions and locks around pop up texts and that i could not click them away after reading. In contrast to me in the game , you did a great job!

The art of the game is beautiful. I think I had ended up breaking a stamp in the office job area which made it impossible to stamp anything but beside that, it is an interesting story.

It's probably the most realistic Loop for a lot of us :) :(

Great sense of style

The atmosphere was cool, and the work minigame was nice, but explained a bit confusing, not sure if it was a bug but there didn't seem to be any end to the game? After two weeks, I could still go to work and be happy, so not sure if something was supposed to happen. But overall still pretty enjoyable

The sprites on the promotional material look great, but tbh the game itself doesn't look too good. I liked the narrative and the Papers Please-like gameplay idea, but I feel like its implementation just fell short. If this game were fleshed out a bit more, especially with more interesting characters and a bit more polish on some janky mechanics I could see it being really enjoyable like Papers Please or That's Not My Neighbor though.
