How does your game fit the theme?
Ballsy (the sentient golf ball) yearns for the holes. But his sentience is limited -- he can only remember a few directions, so he'll continuously loop them... until he gets bonked back into reality.

A really fun and enjoyable take on the "recording your actions and looping" theme I see across many games in this jam. Had a good time trying to get Ballsy to where he yearns for. Good stuff haha

Loved the original take on the theme, kind of reminded me of algorithm exercices to learn loops and stuff – great game :)

Man I love balls

Nice fun entry! I like the music choice and the visuals is also fairly nice. I didn't get the weird sound effects you get when the ball goes into the hole, but that's not too bad. The resolution on the web build on both windowed and full screen is not correct, but the game is still playable.

The mechanics is also fairly simple but fun and I enjoyed it.

One bug I have found is that the first time I load the final level, there were invisible hitboxes on some of the empty tiles, preventing me from completing the puzzles, even after I had figured out the solution in my head. I thought I was not supposed to go there so I tried some random things until I died. Then when it reset the level, there were no more invisible hitboxes so I could completed the puzzle.

Awesome! Great idea and execution. Funny sound design as well! :)

Great game! I enjoyed it very much. Dat dramatic level ending each time :D. Great implementation of the theme, great job!

Incredible game! And for a first game it's superb. It was a lot of fun and I now want more. I also just made my first game so I think its crazy how nice your game feels. (please make more)

Developer (4 edits)

Thank you pointing that out!! We were thinking about feel the whole time.

This is seriously amazing (especially when I read that it's your first game!)

I like the theme interpretation, and the game overall is incredibly polished. Very good audio, song, and visuals. As others have said,  the only feedback I have is that there should be a visible grid (maybe faint, semi-transparent, but there), because at times it was difficult to measure distances.

I think there's a bug on the last level. I pressed <-, then ->, then up, and won lol. It seems I bonked into an invisible wall and got right next to the hole. It didn't take anything away from my experience tho, as a matter of fact it was kinda funny.

Really nice entry, one of the coolest I've played so far.

Thank you for the thoughtful review and use of superlatives. Great bug find!

Looooved the art and the story !! Also the winning screen make Ballsy look incredibly evil, which I love, which nefarious purpose is this little guy up to ? Seems like he's out for vengence

The one note I might have is that i sometimes struggled to figure out the distance between elements ? Maybe having a discreet grid overlay would fix that

Thank you! As for the grid — 100% agree, that was on our list but time ran out (as always lol)

So far this is my favorite implementation of this jam. I think you've implemented the theme perfectly and backed it up with quite some levels. I love the idea of the looping movement inputs! The music was a bit loud for me and I'd love to have some option to lower it of turn it off altogether. Great job, great submission!

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. We assumed it was BYOMB! (bring your own mute button)

Haha! Loved it, one of those games I actually fully completed from this Jam. Very nice!

Developer

Appreciate it, that means a lot! I think I only finished like 3 games out of the 30 I played too πŸ˜… Glad Ballsy made the cut!

Really cool !

Developer

Much appreciated! πŸ™Œ

Great game, easy to grasp. The puzzles are clever and the pixel art graphics are beautiful. On a 4k screen, the game takes up a quarter of the window and an eighth of the screen, in full screen mode. But this doesn't spoil the fun ;-)

I really like the BGM melody.

A great submission!

We hard-coded pixel sizes instead of using screen-relative scaling. Great callout - wouldn't have caught that without your comment. We'll keep it in mind for our next!

Thanks for playing and for the thoughtful feedback! Love your word choice.

Nice submission! I really enjoyed reading ballsy's back story! Great art and sound! I saw someone mention that it was hard to judge how far he would go,  I had the same experience but overall amazing job! Congrats!

Thanks so much for the kind words and for playing! We totally agree on the movement distance — we had planned to add a grid but ran out of time (if only we had 5 more minutes)

Submitted(+2)

Really nice visuals and music, and a fun idea. I found judging how many spaces Ballsy would move based on my inputs a little unintuitive. Might be worth adding a grid to show how far one space of movement is?

Developer (1 edit)

We felt that too! Great area for exploration.

We're working on a new version of the game!

It'll feature 1 more level with an infinite "length," and a leaderboard! You'll have 5 wall hits before your body "shatters." How far you can get with different move combinations? See if you can beat other people's high scores on the leaderboard, including the creators' high scores!

excellent presentation, can't believe it's your first game!

Developer

Thank you! Congrats on making it to the end.

Nice game, well done, lockintwins & burnabl. I enjoyed the puzzles and the artwork. The soundeffects fit well. I had the feeling that my controls weren't always converted exactly the way I put them in - but maybe I just forgot what I had entered πŸ˜‚

Keep up the good work!

Thanks so much, appreciate you playing and for the kind words!
