The 2d flat models are a really great design choice, it gave the game a lot of character. I wish there was a bit more feedback on picking up relics, maybe the hand moving or something. It took me a minute to realise that I had to step over things to collect them. The game might have also been helped if you had a bit of music playing whilst walking around. Maybe a Viking shouts when they see you ect. Nice entry, congrats on finishing.

Thanks for playing the game! We're working on updating the relic feedback just as you suggest. Adding a targeting reticle that pops up with the name of the object, and some audio feedback when it is picked up. Sound generally is on our list to fix up, and we'll be getting a sound-designers input for some fixes once the voting window is finished.

Glad to hear the response to the 2D effects! We really wanted to capture Coarsecurve's amazing art-style in the game, and they do some great character work. We'll be fully animating them to have walking cycles and some visual variations.

Such an ambient and immersive game! I was immediately taken in by the scenic backdrop and overall environmental design of the game. Unfortunately, beyond crouching around the houses and avoiding the raiders, I could do little. I didn鈥檛 figure out how to pick up the herbs or scrolls (despite using my mouse the way the control scheme indicated) - Would be cool to see some sort of gameplay uploaded somewhere! Seems like you guys are planning on building this game further - I look forward to seeing this grow beyond a HAGJ entry! Thank you for participating, and we hope to see you around these parts again!

Thank you for rating this early version! Yes, we definitely need some sort of reticle to guide the player, and we're already at work on the patch to release after HAGJ11 concludes. We've loved it! Very much angling to return!

Looking forward to it !

Love the flourishes on the UI. Lighting was also very cool. Great job!

Developer

Thank you! We're still working on how to best pair our the atmospheric lighting with the UI (like the hand) and textures, and new improvements are already in the world! I'm glad you liked the visuals; they're the historical accuracy we worked hardest on.
