Cute drawings and fun concept. I would have liked to be able to speed up the race at any point because it becomes less interesting after the first lap. The first race path I drew was very long because I didn't know it would take so long, I had to leave the game and come back because there was no obvious way to restart. Also, I wasn't sure what the gold was for. I'm guessing it's just something that didn't make it into the game because of the time limit.
Cute little game, well done!
The positive: This was such a fun concept. I loved being able to create the track and strategizing to make it advantageous for my player. I loved that the map and player could be regenerated at will. The artwork was colorful and cute. The music and sound effects were also pretty cute. I enjoyed the easy style of gameplay. It sort of slowed down my day in a way that I found relaxing.
The negative: The game did crash on me when I played it in browser which was a bit disappointing because I was almost done with my second race and probably would've gone for one more after that. The music started to feel repetitive early on. Other than that, I don't really have anything negative to say. Good job!
Over all: I loved this game! I could see the concept being developed into something much more complex with the same slow and easy play style for PC/Mac. It did feel like it was more for kids than adults which is fine (and hey, I enjoy connecting to my inner child sometimes). However, the retro art style might not appeal to a lot of today's youth. Adults do tend to only play juvenile games like this on mobile but I don't see this game shrinking down to mobile-size very well so the target audience may be difficult to pin down but I do think the right people are out there.
Hey thanks for playing and the thorough feedback!
Sorry to hear it crashed. There shouldn't be anything weird going on but I will take a look. Which browser are you using?
Didn't expect the art to be called retro with all the pixel art games flying around (my usual go-to as well) but I'll take it :D
I was running it through safari on a Mac. A lot of games from the Jam crashed this way. I know Mac and Safari aren’t exactly a gamer setup. Haha
interesting concept, but i wish there was just a bit more you could actually do to affect the race. I also wish the music had more than two bars haha
i also found the bug where you could regenerate the map during a race, and i'm not super sure but i'm pretty sure i managed to use it to win a race by constantly regenerating until most of the tiles were my character's "strong" tile. i feel like there's something interesting there!
Thank you for playing! Oops, yeah that bug needs to go after the jam.
I did initially plan to have obstacles either placed or laid down at random locations. And fully agreed on the music, haha. I've cooked something for that already.
I love the concept. Great idea and fun little time
Thanks for playing!
The run is fun to watch. A fast forward option would also be nice.
Thanks for playing and the feedback!
Nice Game, i really liked to watch them race to the finish.
But i think it would need some balancing and also the reseting in my opinion shouldnt be free.
I also found a bug, that you can change the map while the run is going on.
Thanks for playing and the feedback! Interesting idea to make the reset cost something, I just wanted a way to pass horrible RNG. But I guess you could sum it up to balancing as well, which the game could definitely use.
Good catch with the bug, it escaped my mind during the jam!
