A beautiful game with good atmosphere. The sound effects were satisfying and I feel like I should know what plays in the background but can't remember.

SPOILER ALERT FOR THE GAME:
When I first saw the concept I thought to myself smugly, "I'll just slow down at the highest point and then speed up at the lowest." Except it loops, so that's not possible. I was banging my head against the wall for 15 minutes, because I focused on changing the orbit instead of exploiting that I can retain speed through the loop without the orbit changing. I felt like I was just sitting in a tin can and there was nothing I could do. But the solution pays off.

I wonder if they'll believe Major Tom when he returns home. Reminds me of Final Countdown movie (a similarly funky situation occurs).

One note (not sure how you could get around this): the constant turning made me pretty dizzy. But so far this is my favorite entry.

Hey, thanks so much for playing the game and sharing the experience with us! :D Also, congrats on escaping the orbit!

The music playing is "Claire de Lune" by Debussy :)

About the dizziness - yeah, we were a bit worried this might happen to some players :/ We did our best to avoid it by keeping accelerations low, so I’m sorry to hear it still affected you. Hope the escape made you feel a bit better though!

It's a nice game. I did not manage to escape, but still enjoyed playing.

Developer

Thank you! If you'd like, you can check out the hints for escaping below in the comments :)

Wow that's such an impressive game for a game jam ! Really well done :)

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! Hope you managed to escape the black hole.

Took a while but I eventually managed to escape! Spent a good while playing this game and is probably one of my favorites so far!

Developer

Oh wow, thank you! Also, congrats on escaping the orbit :)

What a polished game! Looks great, sounds great, plays great. I haven't managed to escape yet, but have checked on the hints below and will try again later. Congrats - phenomenal work

Developer

Hey, thank you so much for playing and the lovely comment!

Yeah,  we might've hidden the record player functionality a bit too well...

I've done like 25 loops and couldn't escape. I think I get every aspect of it and know what the periapsis is and I’m activating the main fire but I'm still shy of 580 speed.

Still an incredible looking game, probably my favorite from this jam. Thanks for making this

(A hint to wtf am I doing wrong would be appreciated, but I don't want other people to see it lol)

Wow, thanks for the lovely feedback!

I'm happy to share a few hints, they might be helpful to others too so no worries :)

- Use the record player

- Fire/use up all engines

- Rotate some engines strategically

- Keep an eye on your ship's angle

Let me know if these help you escape the orbit! :)

There's also a gameplay video that might give some clues:

THE MUSIC PLAYER REWINDS TIME! I only tried it inside the cabin so didn’t notice the time thing, now I’ve got to play this again 😂

Beautiful shot of seeing the black hole outside. Amazing ship interior, absolutely lovely. I found that the space comms aren't that too helpful, it just seems to be useless when you have the manual on the left and there are only some hints I feel actually help you such as boosting at the periapsis. I tried my best to find the timings for the boosters but I couldn't hit escape velocity, so blame me for my skill issue :(.

Developer

Hey, thanks for playing and sending us your feedback! :)

Have you used the record player to solve the puzzle?

Submitted(+2)

Very beautiful game, I'm too dumb to solve it but it feels very good to play.  Just wanted to let you know my gaming pc fan started going crazy when playing so there may be something using a lot of performance.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you so much for playing and sending us your feedback! We'll defenitely look into that :)

Nice David  Bowie reference!
I feel like other than spinning I can't do much, i've done 4 loops maybe i didn't get it

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and great job at spotting the Bowie reference! :D

Also, a tip for solving the puzzle: you have to align the ship and/or its engines correctly to prevent spinning around. You can also ask Ground Control 1 question per loop and get a tip back, there's 15 questions total. Hope that helps :)

Very cool. Looks gorgeous and gives a bit subnautica vibes but in space. Definiely has a lot of potential, i don't even want to begin to imagine the cosmic horrors :D

Developer

Thank you, means a lot! :)

The graphics are very cool! Loved the narrative and gameplay!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! :)

How the hell did you make this in 4 days. Would buy a full version if it existed.

Developer

Aww, thanks!

Submitted(+2)

Its gorgeous, I'm just too dumb to progress.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Maybe give it another go sometime :)

Took me 10 whole loops to get it, 5 Stars All Around!! Amazing game, reminded me of Iron Lung in a very good way. I would have figured it out quicker if the record player was facing the window,

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! Also, thanks for your feedback, we'll keep it in mind :)
