This was very satisfying, especially once you massively upgrade your player damage! The only critique I have is that it felt like I was getting punished for having high damage output in the later waves since all the enemies were spawning on top of the coal so I couldn't collect it. Maybe having the enemies spawn from multiple points could help. Regardless, I played this for quite a while and really enjoyed it!
hopefully i made a playable game, thanks for your feedback i will try to improve it after the jam
fun game with a fun loop! Awesome art too!
thanks, your game is cool too
Once the lag died down, this game was pleasant. While the core game idea was solid, I do think that the odd way the shops' UI doesn't close and the lack of visual feedback on the train's guns do take it down a peg. I found the game really easy, but in a more zen kind of way (despite all the bombs). The calm music and tropical local actually made it pretty relaxing as I made it all the way to level 45. Nice work!
thanks, i didn't have time to improve the game and finish all the other stuff, i like your game tho
cool game! I don't know if its intended or if its a bug but i couldn't move the camera and I did not get how to add coal in the train T_T
The game would really benefit from different enemy types. I also never understood the train's purpose tbh. Shooting was satisfying though
the train had turrets that also damage the enemies
yup
This was fun! It was the kind of game where I wanted to keep playing, even when I died and was unsure of the mechanics. Great work there!
My main recommendation would be to make the upgrade stations usable with a hotkey rather than walking on them. In my first play-through I accidentally walked on one of the upgrade pads and couldn't figure out how I did that or how to exit the menu.
I did have some performance issues on a Chrome-based browser, but that might just be my laptop.
I had huge freezes on the html version on firefox. When my projectiles hit enemies I think.
maybe windows version is less laggier
I got the lag as well and it looks to me like it's a shader compilation issue since it only happened the first time an effect, like an explosion, was shown. The same thing happens to my Godot projects. The web exports tend to make the issue a lot more noticeable.
If it is shader compilation lag, the easiest way to fix it is to have a splash screen at the start of your game covering the screen while you load a scene with one of every material in front of a camera for one frame. That forces Godot to pre-compile all the shaders before the game actually starts (I did the same for my game; although I missed one material). The Godot docs have a more detailed page on why this happens too.
cool
