Through my terrible handwriting I ruined Ricky's relationship and made an old woman immortal. Very creative, would recommend!
Honestly two positive outcomes, great job and thanks for playing!
Fave comment <3
Wonderfully creative! I haven't seen anything like this in the jam but it works so well.
Thanks!
I really like mechanics of this game, also amazing concept! Would be cool to have some birds you need to avoid
Thanks! We'll look into different modes we can add for sure
This is such a creative take on the theme. Skywriting was actually one of the ideas we came up with during brainstorming but didn’t know how to go about implementing it. This. This is how you go about implementing it. I love every part of this, from the drunken cursive loops I ended up performing because I was laughing too hard at my previous drunken cursive loop, to the background story where love succeeds despite my awful job at skywriting their confession, it all comes together beautifully.
I was riding the high of getting 5/5 on my first two jobs, and then it was all downhill from there.
The only real issue I had with the game was that the guide in the bottom right covers a lot of the sky that I needed to use on some of the jobs, but arguably that’s my own fault for writing the first line so darn big.
We really appreciate the feedback, thanks for playing our game! I definitely get writing the words as big as possible haha I still do that no matter how many times I play the game because it just feels good to write massive words
So glad you had a good time with the game! Thanks for the feedback- we’ve some tweaks in mind for the post-jam update.
WOW! I quite liked how y'all interpreted the theme, it was very novel and fun to play around with mechanically. I honestly wound up just doing one shift and then sitting in the tutorial for a good while XD
In terms of polish it's visually very well put together, and the sound is well balanced and the music complements the theme and aesthetic of the game very well. I especially liked little details like with the control tower and the player's perspective relative to the plane. I think the plane was a little hard to control, and I think I would've appreciated more space to fly over as for some of the longer requests I wound up running out of space to write. That said, this was certainly well balanced in that even though my writing was rough around the edges I was still able to consistently score 4-5 stars so I appreciated that.
Congrats again on the game submission, and very well done!
Thanks for the very in depth feedback! We've definitely been talking already on how to give the player more screen space such as making the paper on the bottom right slightly transparent so the player can draw from underneath it, and also making the plane even farther would help players as well.
It was difficult (very much so) but I got 5 stars on the last one! The environment that you set up with the style and the music and the theming come together to make something that feels very sweet. Great job.
Thanks!
What a great idea! It's a shame that I only got two stars each time 😅
I guess this isn't the job for me. Although customers weren't very satisfied, they paid something! 😁 Despite that, I had a great time and the background music was calming. Great job!!!
You may have gotten 2 stars on every job by you still got like 10 dollars out of it which I'd say is an absolute win!
This is impressive. The writing looks right. The scoring feels accurate. I read that you used a package, but impressive that it was used effectively in a jam.
The game is sweet and relaxing. It was a pleasure to play. It could use a free drawing mode for sharing funny screenshots.
I REALLY wanted to implement a free drawing mode but we just didn't have enough time unfortunately. Thanks a lot for the kind feedback!
Really cool take on the theme! My skills are higher than the clouds (maybe not quite, I have a bit of a skill issue). But I had a lot of fun, nice work!
Thanks! I'm sure everyone was very happy with your writing no matter what rating they gave you
hey, what a relaxing game! i think i got perfect score? 75? Also got the "bad ending" the first time xd. I'm really curious about the score system. I actually did a jam game a couple years back with a similar system (drawing instead of flying) and it was a DISASTER and everyone started drawing "bad" things. So how do you do it? is it like a grid? turning number? number of traces ? MACHINE LEARNING? The graphics could be a little more high res but the important part (sky and the smoke dissipating) are nicelly done and i like them. The remote control moving is a really nice detail. Nice work guys, i liked it!
The detection system was a package we imported and kept tinkering with to fit the game. What it essentially does on a base level is allow you to enter symbols into the database under an ID, and then the code uses a mix of stroke count, curvature, number of points, and the general motion of drawing to see which input was the closest to the database. We messed with that so that there's a base level percentage of accuracy the player has to hit to get a drawing right, and we also had to draw several versions of every message so that the judging would be fair and account for the different ways players would draw every message. It was definitely the most challenging part of the game to get working. Also you did in fact get a perfect score, I don't think any of us managed to get a score that high, great job and thanks for playing our game!
This was super cute and hilarious actually. The concept was simple and fairly well executed. I wish the canvas was slightly bigger so I could fully commit to my attempts at cursive. It was a little short and I would have enjoyed a couple of extra levels. Nice work!
This was my first jam (luckily we had some veterans on the team!)- I’m now realising that replayability isn’t a super high priority for jam games! We’ve too many games to play! But yeah, there’s a branching mission structure if you want more! :)
Very unique idea, super fun to draw things to the sky! Got 5 stars for my first drawing, then the next was 2 stars, oops.
One piece of feedback I could give could be that if the plane were to hit any obstacles etc. (like the ground) it could blow up in a satisfying animation! It might not be suitable for the intentional game play loop maybe, but I intuitiviely expected something to happen if I touched the ground.
Super cool entry, well made 👏
The background was definitely something we went back and forth about until the very last day, we did initially think about having the plane explode if it touches the ground, but ultimately decided to make it a background that the player can fly over. But I don't think we fully perfected the perspective to make that fact seamless, we definitely need to work on that more or commit to having the plane destroyed when it touches ground even if that might add a maneuvering challenge to a relaxing game. Thanks a lot for you feedback it's very appreciated!
Thanks for the feedback! We had a whole thing we were planning with losing money to fix your plane if you crashed… Crashing made it much more stressful. I think we prefer this vibe overall? What do you think?
Great idea actually! I see your point, if the plane were to be too fragile or was crashing constantly it would ruin the experience. This vibe is definitely more relaxing. Honestly, I like both relaxing and more action games, so I would play both versions :)
Super creative, a bit fiddly in controls but it was very enjoyable nonetheless!
Thanks!
Very creative game and interpertation of the loop! I wish the first tasks were a little simpler, so I could manage them, lol
Yea that's fair we definitely could have eased up the tasks at first, thanks for the feedback!
Lovely game! There's a lot of scope for expanding this as well - such as perhaps some "compulsory" loops you must go through etc. - but it's very well made for a jam and I enjoyed it.
That's a very interesting thought, we'll definitely give it a think when we discuss potential expansions. Thanks for playing!
I am so glad I got a 5 star cloud painting :D ("Go Time"). I do find some of the full sentences too big and difficult to fit the screen. But they were incredibly made as you could follow the loops in the letters very nicely. Lovely game!
Awe thanks. Yeah once we got that swoopie feel right it was plain sailing (it wasn't that's a lie)
The concept of the game and how it’s integrated into the gameplay are truly amazing! It felt a bit challenging to me at times, but it didn’t take away from the fun at all. In fact, it made the experience more engaging. I really enjoyed playing it , great work, especially for a jam game!
Thank you so much! It was a tough balance getting concise messages to work with the narratives we wanted for the branching mission structure. But seems like we hit a good balance? Glad you had fun, thanks for playing!!
My fellow aircraft-enthusiasts, it seems our teams had the same idea! Nice. It looked to me like we were the only ones for a bit. Congrats on a good jam!
Haha small world, thanks for playing!
This was such a fun little game and I'm really impressed at the text evaluation (as everyone else seems to be). I'm glad it was fairly forgiving as some of those messages were not easy. The atmosphere and the sound effects are really nice too.
By the way, thanks for playing my game earlier!
No problem I really enjoyed your game, thanks for playing!
Super original and fun !
I’m really curious about how you evaluate the quality of the plane cursing :)
Thanks! The judging system was definitely the hardest thing about the project to implement, the game compares your writing with a bunch of samples writings of that same mission that we put in, and judges the amount of strokes, points, the general curvature and the motion of writing
