IGTAP: Incremental Game That's Also a Platformer's itch.io pageJudge feedback

- This is an absolutely fantastic and addictive game. The puzzle design is well-paced, starting off easy and gradually becoming more challenging, which keeps the experience engaging throughout. I had a lot of fun solving each area and discovering new mechanics. Also, Number go up! One suggestion I have is to include subtle hints or visual markers to guide players toward the next area or to make it clearer that progression is possible beyond the initial loop. While I personally didn’t find it detrimental, players who are less inclined toward exploration might mistakenly assume the game ends after the first section, which would be a shame, considering how much more the game has to offer. The music contributes nicely to a calm and relaxed atmosphere, though I must admit, I felt anything but relaxed during some of the trickier jumping puzzles! That said, the sound effects are well-executed and match the in-game actions very effectively. Your GDD includes all the essential elements, but it could be improved by adding more visual references, especially GIFs or images that illustrate specific mechanics in action (Parkour, Upgrade, Clones, etc.). This would help better convey the gameplay to readers who haven’t yet tried the game. Overall, great job, this is a memorable and well-executed entry!

Summarize your game!
An incremental platformer! With light metroidvania elements.
Estimated time to beat: 50 minutes
Please explain how your game fits the theme.
The player is the “only one” around, tasked with generating an inordinate amount of power. To do this, they must upgrade their abilities and clone themselves. Also, the music features only one instrument

Very interesting mix of genres. I really enjoyed playing this, though I don't really think it fits with the theme. There are some stuff that annoyed me like the way wall jump worked (you can't go opposite direction before jumping) or that you can't dash while sticking to a wall but overall it was a great experience. Also adding some reset button for getting good times would be super helpful.
Oh god this is so addictive! You already know you did a great job, but I still HAD to find a way to stop playing and leave a comment. I loved the character art, the mix of the genres is unique and has so much potential... maybe there could be a series of IGTAPs set in different worlds in the future? Like this is IGTAP - Voltage version, then others could be set in nature or different planets or mythical forests... What I'm trying to say is, I love it please give us more xD It would also be helpful to have some story background, just enough to know who we're playing as and why... Something to help describe it to others, as in "Oh in this game you play as a volton/creature/something who needs to generate infinite power because..."
Only problem I encounter is that I can't get the wall jump... I can't get the upgrade itself. I keep hitting the button and it's not responding like the others do... I'm playing on Chrome if it makes any difference. I'd love to check back in the future and give it one more shot!
more is coming!
The wall jump being broken is strange, its not something i've seen anyone else have issue with. ill have to look into it.

This version might work better for you? not sure though.
🤦🤦🤦 I'm stupid. I kept reading 1 KW as 1 W, because it's on the far left I thought it's supposed to be the first thing you unlock 🤦 Sorry and thanks for trying to help. Back to playing!
i thought thats what it mightve been! We've since changed the font, in the release version it should be more obvious!
Excellent game especially since you only used 7 of 14 days! Really like the concept. Wish the character controlled better. Love how clones copy your best time instead of using some preprogrammed course.
DAMM GOOD GAME. Core mechanic was 10/10, maybe its because my engineer brain sees the principle of electromagnetic induction made game xd. The music was great. The art as well. The game design was well developed. No bugs, no crashes. Power ups were nice . Love the easter eggs. Random Cats aproved. FUN
Not a big fan of incremental games. But mixing it with platformer was clever. Additional motivation to beat it quicker)
I had only 2 issues:
P.S.: Pepper and Tango are sweet <3 ;-)
The game felt really great to play!
Controls were smooth worked really nicely on a controller.
Music felt very calm & dreamy ( didn't help that I'm playing at midnight xd )
Very nicely done!
this is an Amazing Idea! Combining Platformer and Idle game Concept, i'm addicted! . it felt there's more thing to do instead of just clicking thing. i love watching those clone doing the jump, felt more alive. progression is pretty good , definitely not a Rage game, idk why but the sound effect and music sound depressing, But i'll comeback when i have the time to have fun, Overall Good game and it has potential!
Great great premise. I like your cats. This is what more incremental games need; something to do while you wait. Also I jumped off of the cat platform to the left side and fell forever until I hit unity blue then I quit out lol
Played and reviewed on stream!
Amazing concept and execution. Looking forward to finishing alter. Some points you are aware of is that I think a coyote on wall jumps would be great, find ymself walking off walls. Also perhaps being able to dash in intended direction when 99% off a wall would be nice for some sliding sections.

2 things:
1) The gameplay. I found that the "farming" part of the game was gatekeeping the parkour. I enjoyed the platforming far more and you totally could have made it just "beat this "circuit" 4 times in a row to get the next ability". The whole idle part doesn't go together with the platforming except for the fact that being faster means your clones are also faster. The wall jump didn't have pity frames or they were too low meaning that if you pressed a direction key before jump you wouldn't jump and I HATED that. It felt terrible, especially when the jump itself had pity frames. Dashing off of walls was also quite inconsistent when trying to time it perfectly to be as fast as possible. For the positives - I loved going back to earlier "circuits" and beating them faster with my new abilities. I loved the secret parkour but I wonder if it was possible without the dash. I tried it a few times but didn't see success. Overall it was very fun to play the platformer, very unfun to wait.
2) The theming. You really could have gone further into the electricity theme. What am I playing as? An electron?? The upgrades could have totally been named "voltage" instead of "watts per loop" or "electrons" instead of "+1 clone" or "less resistance" instead of "clone speed"
I ended up beating it. I did encounter 1 bug. My camera bugged out when I died in the first big gap jump after buying an air jump. Luckily it fixed itself, I though it was over for me.
Wall jump and dash buffers are two really important features i need to add. They're not features i need (because of how i play these games) which is how they got missed, but clearly other people want them.
The game is both an incremental game and a platformer. Some people dont like incremental games, and thats totally fair - A "platformer only " mode might be worth looking at in the post-jam period. A slight speed-up to the incremental part might also be welcome - ill look at something, though im *mostly* content with the balancing.
Theming isnt something i really thought about at all - if i had my way, i'd have ascii art aha! but the artist i work with is wonderful and cares more about that than i do, so they can probably give a better response
I forgot to mention that I liked the art. The wall hug animation together with the sound effect was great.
This was really well made. I spent way too much time on it, and everything worked flawlessly, until... my character disappeared and the game stopped responding to any controls as I was making my way back to the final door :(
This happened when I jumped into spikes after getting one of the "hidden" bonuses.
Still, it was a fantastic submission! Well done!
AHHH NOOO! im sorry about that, i thought i fixed most of the camera bugs but i mustve missed one
No worries hehe, I still mark it as a win in my book! ✨
Super clever! I love the minimal (but completely effective) instructions, the hypnotic soundtrack and engaging gameplay.
I didn't get far because I'm bad at platformers, but this is very fun!
Took me a while to open the gate. Controls took some time to get used to. One of my favorite games so far!
great job for finishing it! how long exactly! playtesting found the game to be ~1h long
The end screen said 3 hours, but I think I got distracted for about an hour in total as well.
i did try to give this game a shot, the twist is unique, but the gameplay honestly just feels the same as every other idle game with the exception that every once in a while you do a tiny bit of platforming, i feel like as soon as you get the clones there is no need to really play the game until you reach the next area. but that might be because of my own tastes in games, cool concept though!
yeah totally fair, if you're just a person who doesnt enjoy incremental games then there isnt much here for you. I'm glad you gave it a shot, despite disliking these kinds of games.
Very very addicting game. Im still playing it, lets see how far I get. The only thing that is not perfectly responsive is the walljump imo. Also it would be cool for the longer level above the starting are to be easier to reset. Otherwise I need to run through the whole course first.
wall jump could've used slightly more tolerance tbh. It's designed to lock your movement for a short time after jump, but if you move away from the wall and then jump the game has 0 tolerance. It needed coyote time.
a reset button was brought up by every playtester and i ignored it :sob: i shouldve just bit the bullet and added one. the only reason it's not in is my own laziness
Really nice platformer game. The control feels almost perfect and responsive. If there is some kind of action connection(Press jump before finish dashing makes the character jumps right after finish dashing for example) would be really nice. The jump input is ignored completely if I timed too quickly before the dash ends and my run is ruined a bit, but all is fine. Overall the game is good enough for me.
oh my god thats a huge oversight! i wish i'd have picked up on it earlier.
Actions have buffers in all cases *except* jumping out of a dash. it's a super easy fix but its not one i can do now :(
