Beautiful graphics!
Incredible to have some voice acting, very cool! The character animation is nice, yeah, I can see you worked on that. Unfortunately, and I dunno if this is a problem with the engine or something, but I was having pretty serious framerate issues and input lag, making the seemingly simple platforming become almost impossible. After failing at the same bit near the beginning several times, I gave up. Still, a good effort on your part, and I don't think the issues with the game are really anything to do with design decisions at least! So it's not really your fault, lol.
Thanks for playing. I went ahead and uploaded an OpenGL version of the game. Also, most of the testing was done with a controller. All windows controllers should be supported. But you may need to press a different button to jump on a dualshock controller. Thanks again for the feedback.
I had a difficult time understanding the jumping and judging how close I could get to the edge, I really liked the voice acting and the opening as a whole. Otherwise great job!
Thanks for playing. Thank you for the feedback.
I played the game! It was not obvious how to run but I found .bat file with instruction inside to run the game. Maybe I did something wrong but couldn't find any other way.
The music is super great, really like you did it by yourself. I couldn't make to the end somehow my computer had problems with framerate but I did find rest of music in assets and listened it. Cool!
The core mechanic of torch going down is interesting, would love to see next game with similar idea, make you feel anxious when you going dark! Cool!
Thank you for playing! Yeah, I set the renderer to Vulkan because I thought it would be more compatible these days. Theoretically you can launch the game by double clicking on the bat file. If you graphics card is intel based it will run in software renderer which can be super slow. Also if you close and re-launch the game it might be faster because the first launch its caching the shaders. Thank you for the feedback!
After doing some research, if you decide to play again you might get better performance if you update your graphics card driver. I should have built the game with open_gl... I might take down the linux package and add a windows open-gl version. Since most GPUs support opengl 4 these days.
I went ahead and uploaded a OpenGL build of the game. If you use a controller you may have a better experience. Thank you so much for the feedback.
Added Control instructions to the description page. No more updates required.
Added the Linux Version for muh linux peeps!
Windows version has been updated with bug fixes and removed erroneous files to make download size smaller. Game was submitted at 10:40am on 8/10.
