Hey, this is jumping off a post I made in Sammy J's "Share Your Progress" topic. To recap, I am writing a campaign called "The Western Book of the Dead," about police detectives uncovering the King in Yellow's influence in Las Vegas. My current goal is to have the first scenario ready for playtesting by July 15th, about a month from now. Currently as of writing this, I am working on the missing persons investigation before diving into all the mafia stuff, which I am not exactly experienced with since I have no understanding of organized crime outside of movies and Al Capone. I will update this post when I make progress within this week, which is week #3. Subsequent weeks will become other posts beneath this topic. My progress is as follows:

  • Designed the basic structure of the first scenario (there is a bit of a blank spot with the mafia stuff but I'll work on it)
  • Filled out the clues for Alice's apartment by day and for talking to Alice's loved ones

Hey, so, it's been two weeks.

I'd like to say something, to offer up an excuse or proof of work, but I don't have any. The truth is, I'm stuck exactly where I was two weeks ago. I don't have the best work ethic, and as the next school year approaches and my group steadily begins to wrap up God's Teeth, my attentions have... shifted. I'm drafting some stuff for a MAJESTIC-12 campaign that likely isn't applicable here because of its liberal use of published scenarios. I'm still devoted to this concept, and I love Alice and the world I've made that surrounds her (I even have a missing poster of her that I made hung up on my wall), so I've promised to myself and this community that this campaign will be finished, even if it sucks or if I'm the only person willing to run it. Current deadline is still July 15th for a playtestable version of the first scenario, I'll update again soon.

And honestly: it’s just like that sometimes. But it takes guts to admit things are going slower.

Looking forward to the 15th!

Here's the link to the (unfinished) first scenario. It's not usable, I'm just a little hung up on the "Apartment At Night" sequence and was wondering if any folks in the community would have tips. I'm trying to make the building feel haunted like MFADR but not warping the space that much unlike the Night Floors. Also if anyone has any tips on the mafia stuff that would be appreciated. The end goal right now is to have them go raid this mafia guy's drug den and like pimp hangout who is connected to the wider KiY mafia cult in Vegas. Surreal bullshit ensues. So, that's why I'm trying to save that drop into full unnatural stuff. Thanks y'all.

Update: that concept has stagnated so I'm pivoting to try and get a product out before the contest passes me by. I think I'm doing something with the Exalted Circle. More news to come soon.

Alright, I've been working up this Exalted Circle thing for the past few days. It's mainly concerned with their Deep One breeding programs and the drug experiments within, but I plan on expanding it to cover the wider Cthulhu worship in the cult (despite this, I don't think I will be fully addressing the Kuen-Yuin/Deathless Masters, maybe just alluding to them). The first scenario borrows and twists a hook from the  original Targets of Opportunity writeup: a lawyer shoots up an office building raving about fish-things. The terrorist, a new Sentinel, was looking for another Sentinel. When they came into contact, the terrorist tried to kill the man, but then burned up from the inside before the FBI sniper could hit him. The scenario will involve the other Sentinel, an accomplished wizard, playing mind games with the Agents as they surveil him and try to prove he killed the terrorist with magic.  From there, I plan on a bit of globetrotting, going to Hawaii, Ecuador, Peru, Tuvalu, and maybe some Caribbean islands. Deadline for this for now is still July 15th. Read more about the Exalted Circle in Targets of Opportunity or here, on Fee Fi Fo Fin's blog: https://feefifofin.blogspot.com/2025/07/an-exploration-of-exalted-circle.html

Deadline will be changed to July 18th. Making good progress though. I hope to write 2 or 3 more scenarios after this one. Whether or not those will fit in the contest's deadline is something I cannot accurately foresee right now. I think at least 2 more will, though.

Hey! The first scenario (unedited) is mostly done! I didn't finish over the deadline, I simply forgot to post it. It needs to be edited, but is mostly ready for playtesting and reading and such. I need to finish the stat blocks and turn a few bullet points into paragraphs. I'll also link the main campaign doc so you guys can get a feel for the whole campaign. This first one is centered around espionage, and the others likely will as well, but less so. Deadline for the next one is July 30th.  Here is the scenario and here is the campaign doc.

Read through Plutomania, looks like a fun campaign! I like the layout of an almost circular trajectory of the scenarios taking the Agents around the world. I’m a sucker for Cthulhu and getting to see an Exalted Circle campaign is really fun. Excited to see the rest!

Update: I've been busy, both in real life and with my new '90s DG campaign. I haven't updated the PDF that's linked on the Itch page, but I can promise that I'm working on it. I'm drafting the third scenario now, which I think is where I'll stop until after the contest, then I'll put in the extra scenario and all the maps. - Lalonde

Update: PDF updated. Deadline is approaching fast, but hopefully I'll be fine.

Alright folks, Plutomania is half-done but submitted. It comes with two linked (and playtested) scenarios, stats for the evil things your agents might find in them, and a wealth of information on how to use the Exalted Circle in your own campaign. It was and is fun writing this, so the completed campaign should be done by November, as I'd like to continue working on it. Thanks everyone for your kind words and criticism.
