If you have implemented the modifier, how have you done so?
If I explained it, it would be a spoiler. But there are three or four layers to the narrative.
Any additional information for voters?
There's a lot of reading to this one. As always, the downloadable version is recommended.

This was great! Love the title art and intro. It really adds to the experience and makes the fakeout especially funny!
I love the subtle details put into this! The devlogs were really funny. There was clearly a lot of work put into characters, passports, etc, and while the runtime is was fairly short, there is definitely some replay value, and some blink-and-you'll-miss-it references!
I like the star system and how it tells you what you did wrong. Maybe I'm now delirious from playing 60 games but I remember myself being better at Papers Please 😅It does definitely seem quite mechanically deep, to the point where this could be expanded into something bigger - though also quite nice that it doesn't outstay it's welcome.
Sergei would be proud - well done!
Thanks for playing!
Papers, Please is a game I loved a decade (maybe more now) ago and I got pretty far back then, but I absolutely can't handle it now, so maybe it's not just you. It's interesting that you like how the star system/end screen works, because when Lucas Pope was creating Papers, Please he found that you really needed instant feedback. Maybe it works here because the levels are shorter and simpler.
There's definitely room to expand this, it'll probably never happen, but although there's a fair bit of jank in the code it would be pretty trivial to add more levels.
Another banger, another banger from Ja Wizardman IV's XCVG!
Now that I've properly looked at it, I definitely see what you mean by wanting to paly the game promised by the cover art lmao.
The opening and the menu were very well done! It really captured the Baldurs Gate look and feel in the classic XCVG style! I admit I did feel teased by the dice rolling sound though, genuinely expected the dice roll screen to show up at some point lol.
As for the gameplay itself I liked it as someone who 100%'d Papers Please, and I loved all the references to other games and IRL events. Though I admit I felt the text was too small to read on the passports at points, some form of zoom in function would've been great, but hey its a jam, and SBIG at that!
And the multiple layers to this thing really added to the experience, I was immersed the whole way through!
10/10, a new SBIG classic!
Thanks for playing!
I think I mentioned this on the Discord, but I did want to do some dice rolling mechanics early on. I didn't have time to get to it, though, and I couldn't figure out how to fit it in.
A magnification function would be a good idea, but it wouldn't have been a problem if I'd been more careful with the sizing. I personally feel I've omitted most of what made Papers, Please so special, but maybe I'm just being too picky about it.
It was very much a "throw everything in and see what happens" project. I have mixed feelings on the meta layer, and I'll go into that in the postmortem, but from the reactions I've been getting I think it did land more than it missed.
Glad you had fun with it overall!
That was weird and janky. Short, but definitely on point for SBIG Jam!
Thanks for playing!
I've always felt it's better to make the game too short than to make it too long, especially for this jam
(and it was made in a massive rush)Did not see this one coming either. I never played Papers Please, but I have to imagine that this is what it was like. Very well done! This had lore, a well defined game mechanic, and even voice acting! Literal title even.
so much lore, such a gate! But i do need to see your Visa in order to rate this game
I love how the game at first presents itself as an RPG game then spirals into quite literally being about a gate. I can see a lot of attention went into this, with the plot and the characters. I love that this game has characters migrating from other IPs / universes with their own funny gags
This game caught me completely off guard, and I am in awe. Pure kino.
This is a really nice game! I love that you dedicated it to Sergei. I don't know much about Boulder's Gate, but it reminded me a lot of Papers, Please which I do know about. Some of the passports were really difficult to read, and it took me a couple of days in the game to understand the controls. Amazing work!
Thanks for playing! You've definitely caught one of the inspirations for the game. I love doing something meta for SBIG Jam, and I haven't since I think 2021, so this one was a lot of fun to do. Make sure you read the spoilered text on the game page if you haven't already.
Ohhh okay yeah I saw that and didn’t know how to read it- welp 😅
Still, awesome game
so bad that it's good.
Thanks for playing! That's the idea ;)
This is perfection right here.
Thanks for playing, glad you liked it!
I am not a very good boulder guard
Thanks for playing! Funny enough, this game in part came from my own struggles with the game it was inspired by.
Nice game, had fun playing it.
