This is beautiful and emotional. I'm glad that you came back to complete the story. I also love the addition of the epigraph poems.
The checkpoint and the ability to skip through the page animation made it much more smooth to play through platforming mistakes instead of getting frustrated at having to do everything again, which helped keep focus on the story.
It could use some polishing and line editing, but it feels very complete as is.
