Very cool platformer! Everything work together: music, graphics and speed. I like the idea that you need to press space button in order to get power up or avoid debuff. Very well implemented
The character controller feels very fun and satisfying to use! Nice entry :)
Very nicely done, pretty hard and lots of fun! Congrats!
Really hard, but good game
Some of the best UI I've seen on the jam scene. Lovely scene transitions and buttons!
Art and audio adds a ton to the exciting summer vibe of the game. Gameplay was a little too unforgiving for me, and I couldn't really make it out of the first few seconds of the first level. Quicktime events also too challenging, I feel, particularly because I think WASD would've been enough, but adding Q and E within the very limited timespan made them impossible for me (and then not being prepared for the instant transition, the critters behind you catch up immediately and trigger the loss condition).
Could use some balancing (or at least an "easy" option for low-performing gamers like me!), but otherwise, I love the style of Critter Rush. Very well done!
The critters chasing me definitely kept me on my toes! This was fun, though I kept wishing I could wall jump or climb, since missing a jump felt a bit tough.
cool work! Loved the swarm and the ever changing critters (those rhinos always fall to their deaths) plus the idea of minigames for boosts was nice. Well done for such a great 1st submission!
Really loved the menu, animations, and all that, like, it's insanely pretty, congrats!
The audio is also really good, music choices are absolutely on point!
For me, the only feedback is that playing it full screen makes it kinda small and a minor nitpick, you can see the map kind of disappearing behind you too.
Other than that, awesome work and you got to teach me how to do those transitions and animations, astonishing work :)
The first thing that got me interested was a main menu, which is very well made. It is so satisfying to see the buttons animate as you hover over them and also the dot transition is a great touch. Keybinding option is also a well thought addition, not many devs thought about it (including me 😅).
The core gameplay seems solid, it's a platformer with obstacles, but it's hard to differentiate between power-ups and enemies. And the power-ups acted more like a obstacles to me, since after you do QTEs there's a little control over your character and the "flying" power-up can end in the worst time causing you to fall into the pit.
You did a very good job on platforming gameplay, it feels responsive and enjoyable, overall it was a fun experience!
Thank you for playing and for the long feedback, so much appreciated! :)
The dot transition is a shader that I found in godot shaders if you want to take a peek
I agree that enemies and powerups MUST be more different, I need to study more games and see how they handle that
First off the audio design is well done. The plicks and clinks when interacting with UI is very satisfying. I did notice that the audio settings only seem to effect the main menu, as when I started playing the actual game, it went back to being very loud. I didn't get very far (skill issue lol), but I liked the challenge. Well done QTEs, good job \ (•◡•) /
thank you for playing! I really enjoy the plicks and clinks too! :D it was fun to implement it and I admit that I lose a lot of time listening to the menu audio, it was mesmerizing ahah
Btw don't worry I made the game actually hard on purpose, it's and endless runner with a "super meat boy" touch :)
I confirm QTE animations don't work on Firefox. A nice entry tho. Very clean menu and transitions. I thought I was clever by getting the invincibility buff then letting the swarm over take me, oops haha
Yeah it sucks that it doesn't work on firefox, but literally I couldn't find out why... I removed all shaders, tweens and animations and it still doesn't work, so I just give up. But I learnt a lesson about trying an html game in different browsers :D
Thanks for playing and for the feedback! :)
Nice work on this one! The QTE events are a pretty fun addition to the endless runner gameplay. I also appreciate the inclusion of remappable controls! Just a heads up, playing the game in full screen doesn't actually zoom in the game; it instead seems to be increasing the size of the viewport, which means the camera ends up showing a lot more of the level than I think you intended.
Besides that good job!
Thanks for playing and for the feedback! Glad you liked the remappable controls! They took while a time and I'm happy how they are now.
Yeah you are right for the full screen mode, I forgot that I needed to change a variable to fill the tiles behind the player in full screen, but I completely forgot ahaha
Man this was super hard but love the concept. Music options were fantastic.
If you want in the credits section there is a link to the whole playlist! They are so good :D
Oh boy, that was hard ahah. Great work on procedural levels and those extra abilities from fruits! Really interesting concept. And I loved that every restart music is different. It makes you want more to replay.
thanks for playing and for the feedback! :) Glad you noticed the music is always different <3
That game gave me a need for speed haha. Cool take on the endless runner genre! Love the QTE too!
Loved the soundtrack! also nice little endless runner game! I wasn't really sure which things dealt dmg and which didn't but i was running so fast I wouldn't notice it either way.
If you want you can find the soundtracks author in the credits session! thanks for the feedback and for playing!
That was surprisingly hard and fun! Not sure if I should collect fruits or avoid them, though.
Glad you liked it! for clarity: fruits = good (qte that if done correctly gives you a buff, such as speed, invulnerability, floating), all the animals does damage to you!
