This is a really interesting use of the theme. I wanted to try a run without looking at the guide first but I failed miserably. It's cool that the animals have different effects. It'd be fun if you could expand/upgrade to cast multiple spells at a time so you can cast an animal while capturing enough.
Once I got the hang of it, I enjoyed the 1v1 combat game system. However, the onboarding was tough, since there are too many critters / effects to memorize off-the-bat, so a good few minutes is spent losing playthroughs, and referring back to the how-to guide to see what the critters actually do.
Do feel that there's a balancing issue, and that the first (and presumably only?) level is way too hard off-the-bat. Not only is the enemy AI much more skilled at getting better critters than you, but it also seems to heal at a constant rate.
Gameplay would be improved if there are a few "gimme" levels at the beginning with very limited power-ups and either tooltips or a referable in-game guide as to what the critter does. But aside, I think the game design is quite good, the art + sound are complimentary to each other, and once refined, this will be a fun combat game!
Wow this game is hard. Wish I read the guide first because I thought the squirrels were healing me the first 2 tries lmao. This is such a cool little game, I love it!
Played it before I read the rules. Figured out the rules as I went. It was difficult to beat like that, but I did and it felt like an achievement. The squirrel (character that hurts you) being so common made it slightly more confusing. I am also glad that you included the Guide that shows exactly what every animal does and after I read it it became substantially easier. It felt very original to me and like something I'd find on a good plug-and-play game console.
The art is super cute, and the music is good, but some variation would be interesting!
I had a rough time understanding what I was supposed to do, but, besides that, it was really fun seeing the spells materialize and do some cool damage! Great work :)
This was an interesting game. The art was cute. I wish there had been a way to look at the spell guide in game, because I was having a little bit of trouble keeping track of what all the different creatures could do.
Great job, this is a really original and fun concept! I found the boss rather hard but I could definitely see this becoming a proper strategy mobile/steam game once polished, nice one.
The opponent was so strong! I didn't win but managed to get his dam HP to 13. This was hard!
I had fun playing the game, I love the idea of picking spells from the river! I guess I'm just bad at aiming 😄
