How does the game fit the theme?
Help your friend win as much money as possible by hacking into his slot machine!!
Beware, the machine may catch you or you may run out of time. If you get caught cheating your friend loses all his money...

Love the art style and direction! Super unique and interesting game :D
Very unique idea and great visuals! Good job!
Thank You. Gambling is fun!!
really unique game
A very cool and unique entry. It took me a few minutes to figure out how everything works but it was fun to try things and see what they led to. The delicate balance of going for risking higher threat levels and taking the loss was very well done!
thank you for playing the game!
I love gambling!!!
Damm, this was soo cool
Like not even talking about the gameplay, but just the vide and the diegetic UI were soo good and well made!
I did notice tho that while betting. the timer on top was partially hidden, the betting numbers were overlapping the controls below
This was inconsistent tho, like its normal 3 times out of 5 but then this happens sometimes when I reload and play again (I did see you mentioned scaling issue bug mentioned in the desc but not sure if this is what you were talking aboout)
Coming to the gameplay, its pretty simple, but just the overall atmosphere you built with the console like ui made it very fun! Though I do think it could use more mechanics to double down on the risk factor
Right now, it definitely isnt like easy, but it isnt really hard either to get a jackpot
Also when we enter the number and press enter to like lock it in? Id love to see the game point it out specifically that its locked in, cuz I pressed enter bymistake and was confused why it was stuck and why i couldnt change it.
Overall you guys did a great job, I love the Ui and the asrtstyle! The CRT effect also helps alot with it!
The gameplay is quite fun but can get a bit repetitive and could use some more mechanics imo
Great job you guys!
the screenshot you attached is unfortunately the scaling issue. we were applying scaling to the elements differently earlier but then we switched our settings to scale the viewport instead, which meant on all display sizes the contents on the screen would look consistent. but in the build i last uploaded, i forgot to remove the code that calculates scaling for other display sizes which was no longer needed; we tested it on a display with 100% (1.0) scaling which made no difference to scaling, which is why it went unnoticed at the time.
following is the intended look across all display sizes;
however, the bugs have been fixed, its just sad to see that we can’t update it for a while since file uploads are locked.
there is a gentle audio cue as of now, we do have code for visual indicators on the cursor selection however, i think we cut focus on it since we needed to get the main gameplay done first.
about more gameplay mechanics…yeeeeahhhhh there was a lot more we planned but had to cut on or we’d not finish the game in time, hah. there was a dialogue system; the slot.listener was initially a dialer and you’d listen your friend’s dialogues on a call while he gambled, etc. we had minigames with that, and a short sequence before the actual gameplay where you’d login to the machine and it’d be a different server every time, and the player would have to figure out how to login to it, etc.
overall i think, as you suggest, this concept has more potential to it. maybe after the file uploads are unlocked we’ll see to implement these things as we have some code already written for it.
and yes, the crt shader is really fun. i had code for it where like an actual crt display the scan lines would slowly move with time, and other edge sharpening code and more stuff.
anyways, thank you for the review and thank you for playing our game!
It isn't very clear what exactly you are supposed to do, but it is a very cool idea. I recommend adding an in-game tutorial in the future. Other than that it's a good game.
did you read the readme.md? it has hints on how to play the game 😉
very unique very special
Thank you for your kind words. :D
"mouse interactions are disabled", me as a programmer: "Ah, I see you're a man of culture as well"
Very cool idea and the game has a good polish. I just think the learning curve is way to high (or I'm to stupid :D) took me a while to understand the game.
But still very great work :)
Thanks for playing.
You basically have to look at the sheet and match the icons in any row. But changing rows increases threat.
So change few rows and leave some matrix as is if you won't be able to make good combo.
We toned down the difficulty a lot from original concept.
Maybe give it one more try. For the Culture 🤟
you’re not stupid! you’re just one readme away. lol
i can understand that the learning curve may be high, but we tried our best to not make is too difficult. earlier we had the player type out commands to get things done which was very unintuitive for an average gamer.
regardless, thank you for playing the game!
Cool idea, visuals and audios good too. Gameplay-wise it's very basic but good game regardless.
I liked the interface and visuals the screen looks really nice. The concept itself is a good fit for the jam’s theme, and I really enjoyed the SFX for selecting numbers and the pressure from the timer mechanic.
That said, personally it didn’t quite manage to pull me in, and at times it felt a bit like solving an exam question :D
Overall, it`s maybe not for everyone and not for me but seems really enjoyed the others !
i think this is one of the more unique/helpful responses we’ve gotten about the game, and i think it does add value to our game design for the next project, really. i do agree with you on the game somewhat feeling like an exam to solve but it was merely the vibe we were wanting to go for.
the initial iterations involved a lot more complex puzzles which required you to code up solutions from given schematics (diagrams with written explanations, etc.) but we figured players would just rage quit 😆
regardless, thank you for the critique, and for trying out our game!
Really awesome concept and creative. Like others said, it was really hard to understand what was going on at first. For future players: you increment the numbers in the first, second, and third column UP/DOWN. The goal is to align the middle row to match a pattern in the sheet to the right. Game very polished and awesome theme and implementation. Visually it may help if bracket is around only middle row for the 'locked in' feeling. Also the sheet was a little far away to look at / small. These are small nits on a really well executed original concept. Nice!
Thank you for your elaborative review. We changed readme multiple times, hoping it would make understanding game easier.
But yeah we will add some visible indicators and stuff to make it more easier to understand.
Thank You!!
Feels like I'm a hacker lol, great job with the game feels quite polished and well made.
thank you! have a great day ahead
Weel done. It's nice to be the cheater so now and then...
Very well-made and original.
it really does feel great to be unethical…but not the smartest thing to do in real life lol
The visuals of the game are dope especially the monitor distortion! The game looks fun but I'm not sure I understood what was the correct payload I had to change even after reading the how to play. The idea is great so I'm sure I just need more explanation probably. Well done nontheless!
you are pretty much supposed to help your friend win more money, perhaps by not making him lose money, or by reducing chances of them losing money, OR by being obvious and hitting jackpots every time. you can refer to the reel sheet on the right and match the indices given in the incoming payload matrix.
regardless, thank you for trying our game out and reviewing it!
very fun
thank you 🙂↕️
At first it was a bit confusing, took me a little while to understand what's going on but once I figured out how to play it became really fun felt like I was a hacker:D
Thanks for playing.
We discarded implementation where player had to type commands for doing stuff, I'm glad it's somewhere casual now.
I really really love the asthetic and nice implementation! :)
thank you thank you 🙂↕️
Oooh I love some good command console on CRT graphics. And the game fits the theme perfectly and makes me feel like Hackerman™. Despite not having the flashing images and jingles a traditional slot machine would, it gives me this weird satisfaction. I did encounter bugs that makes some controls not working but I could just start a new run. Nicely done.
yep, we are aware of the bugs with inputs. we had other bugs with the display scaling, etc, but unfortunately now that the updates are blocked we cannot upload fixed builds.
however, you still enjoyed is what matters. thank you for checking out the game!
The concept is actually really good for this jams theme! I really liked the sfx for picking the numbers, and also really like the timer so that you feel pressured. Maybe a good feature to add would be with each payload the timer to select the numbers decreases and maybe even randomising the key for the numbers on the top-left each round! A lot of potential for a full fledged game, good job!
the feature you mention was on the agenda 😄, we had to put it aside or we wouldn’t finish the main game in time unfortunately
Totally get that <3 ( Our game has a few missing ideas as well :P )
