Great game. Really easy to get into, and quite addictive. Visuals and sound are perfect, and it´s just a very polished experience overall. Had a lot of fun with it!
Thank you so much!!
Very well-polished game! The combination of Minesweeper and chess works really well together, and it feels like it would fit perfectly on mobile. That said, I felt there was little to no difficulty scaling as the levels increased—though that could just be my playstyle. I mostly used the rook and played slowly and methodically, starting from the center and expanding outward, only using other pieces when necessary. The king’s movement felt mostly luck-based; it makes sense given his ability, but it was still a bit frustrating. I think I’d really enjoy some form of progression as I move up levels, something to help tackle the higher-tier stages. Overall, a really fun game!
Thank you for playing the game and thoughtful feedbacks!
The visuals had a nice, clean presentation and I UI for available movement squares made it very clear which moves were valid. The rule set also seemed pretty interesting, but the limited move economy felt very strict at first. I tried a number of times but I wasn't able to reliably hit all coin locations before running out of moves. Only later did it become clear that you could collect all of the items along a straight line when using the bishop or rook (clearly I liked the knight a bit too much). After that realization, it felt like I had a lot more meaningful decisions available.
The king ability and movement restriction was a nice touch in setting up the risk/cost tradeoffs. It makes sense that the king should be harder to move since it comes with such a strong upside on revealing the squares around it. I think I'm onboard with the "only moves onto shields" half of the equation. The shield cannot, however, then be used to go clear a bomb. Since the king starts without a shield on it anyway, it felt like that should be an available option.
As far as the other pieces go, the rook felt best for raw coin collection, the knight was then good for picking up precise shield squares to clear out bombs and make way for another big rook move. The bishop seemed to be the odd one out. I usually only moved it once and that would mainly just be done to clear the way for the rook. I'm not sure what could be done to make the bishop a more attractive option. I can say, however, that it definitely felt especially restricted whenever it spawned on the same diagonal as the king.
Wow, thank you for such a detailed feedback, i really do appreciate it! About the Bishop yeah I totally agree and I was even thinking that i could replace it with another rook or even a queen, but i just left it the way it is. I would consider it if I wanted to make a full game with this concept.
This was a fun puzzle game (tho im not very good at it). I like the mechanic of tiles being hidden unless surrounding the king. My main point of confusion is the king/shield mechanics. I understand the king can only move to a shield, and the shield removes a bomb, but once they share a tile neither the king nor shield can be interacted with again with got me stuck a lot. Im not sure if Im misunderstood some of the mechanics or if the guessing part is intended but I liked the challenge either way. Great visual design aswell!
Thank you for your valuable feedback, yeah the mechanics were intended in that case but those aren't very clear.
stunning visuals!!
Thank you!!
great game! I appreciate the creativity in making this. The learning curve is good, and has good replay value. I enjoyed playing this one! congratulations! keep it up!
Thank you!!
Creative game! I like these sort of deduction/puzzle games. For a while I abused the restarts and just tried revealing as many tiles as possible with the rook, hoping not to get many bombs. It worked surprisingly well. After I re-read the description the game made much more sense once I knew how the king worked. It's also very elegant looking, good job!
Thank you for playing!
Really neat idea. I mostly did well when I got lucky taking risks to make big moves with the rook and had shields to cover up. Background music could be nice. Also more visual ways to know you are running out of moves or other things. I didn't realize that was a lose condition until a few times in.
Thank you for your feedback!
At first I missed the fact that the King could move. I played a few levels, and the fact that sometimes the King can’t move anymore was a bit frustrating — but that’s part of the game, I had to deal with it.
Good job
Thank you!!!
Really enjoyed this one, it's like a combination of chess and minesweeper! Took a bit of time for me to grasp the mechanics, but got used to it and had quite a bit of fun with this.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
A fun game, the sense of risk is really awesome, it's special
Thank you!
The concept is a bit complicated. It took me a while to figure out that the king was highlighting the contents of the cells. It would be nice if the game had a step-by-step tutorial that showed how to play step by step. But I liked the idea. It's a fun game.
Thank you for your feedback, I couldn't make time to fit a tutorial in it, but i might turn this into a complete game, so I'll keep that in mind.
Nice game cool take on mindsweeper!
Thank you!
Cool idea! Really like the mix of mine sweeper and chess. Had fun playing it, great work
Thank you!
Cool game!! Very original. Took a bit to understand the basics tho
Thank you for playing it.
Quite cool idea, sadly pretty difficult to understand, although I did half get it and was close to winning, I think the thing I understood the least was how do Shield pieces work and why couldnt I move sometimes, nothing was highlighted, but after watching the video I think its a little clearer
Unfortunately yeah. i ran out of time to add the tutorial. so i had to add the video, hope it helps lol.
Very interesting entry, difficult to understand though
Thank you!
This game is pretty cool, it was a bit hard to understand on the first few tries but was enjoyable
Thank you for playing it.
I had to watch the video to understand how to play. A little in-game explanation would have been nice. Once you understand it, it’s great. Great work!
Thank you for playing, yeah can't agree more.
Took me a second to understand how to beat a level, but great concept, had fun playing! :D
Thank you!!
Yeah, it would be better with a tutorial!
Every Jam I think "This is the Jam where I include tutorial text", but I never do lol
