The art is so cute and I'm obsessed with every little duck I see. I've never really played a game like this before and there was a lot to read and understand but I just kind of put my ducks in places and hoped for the best, and I ended up winning. Great game and its pretty friendly to people who have no idea what they're doing, like me.
Glad you had fun! :D
Damn, lucky with the ducks, or maybe you're more skilled than you thought!
this game is just the kind of game I love, but right after the second round my audio started lagging and really glitching out
Glad you enjoyed! :D
There should be a pretty big audio buffer, because it's made for even mobile devices to be able to handle it, what browser are you using? Firefox?
thanks for clarifying
I am using safari I think it was just my low memory mixed with my old headphones but I tried playing and I couldn't get the bug again so I think it's safe 👍
One of the most fun games out there tbh. I LOVED the design, the sound and the gameplay mechanin.
I would have loved seeing more duck mechanics and more interactive stuff in the game like shop and stuff,
but overall - you guys rocked!
Glad you enjoyed, ty for all the kind words! :D
Will add some more ducks once the jam's over
This game is addictive, the gameplay loop is great and the visuals are spectacular! Well done, you should continue the game!!
Glad you enjoyed!!! :D
I'll make some more ducks after the jam
I'll keep an eye out for it C:
The art style is amazing! Doing an async multiplayer game for a jam is crazy. I had a lot of fun playing it, good job!
Glad you enjoyed! :D
I had no less than the HTML wizard himself to help with multiplayer backend😎
Got onboarded on the jam team midway the jam with the sole goal of getting multiplayer going! :D
Glad you had fun.
yk we can see how long you actually play games for right >.>, and we can see when new duck teams are made on our game, where's yours?
You're not even leaving a rating to the games you "play"
I LOVEEE THE ART ITS SO CUTE!!!, i think having more bounce and tweens to the ducks would be AMAZING but even rn its already so good!!
All sprites drawn by PaleGhosts ofc
When the jam's over, I'll work on the game a lil' more, and add some more movement to the ducks, both in teambuilder and battle scene
Thank you!!
This is so well executed.
It feels very polished and I love the gamble mechanic as a twist to the classic shop.
The Art-Style is also very cute.
Well done!
Great to hear you enjoyed :D
This is so well made! The gameplay is simple, yet many possible moves and positions to consider. There's even potential to teach kids programming with it! The art style is also cute and creative for the various ducks implemented, and I like the SFX when clicking the ducks, especially the sad quack when removing from the team XD. And to think you pulled off Async Multiplayer for the Game Jam and promoted variations in the combat phase. Though there is not as much risk in the game, it still fits the theme and
You guys really nailed making this game! Keep up the good work!
Tysm for all the kind words!✨
I'm glad you enjoyed🎉
Got on-boarded on the team in the last few days to pull off the multiplayer. Really happy we did as it added a lot more character to the game!
Thanks for playing <3
really loved the visuals and all the duck options. Wizard duck is definitely my favorite. really fun game play loop and it was interesting setting up ducks in a 2x3 grid. having two lanes of fighting was a good choice
Great to hear you had fun! :D
The night before uploading the game I did a big playthrough, and past round 10, all my playtesters were using wizard teams, he was way too powerful lol
I ended up bringing his HP from 3 to 2, and making the Safety duck
this is so cool! the art looks incredible on this one and i enjoyed seeing all the different types of ducks! everything about the game was so well put together and i especially enjoyed the quack music and random quack sounds. just feels so put together with that!
Thanks I had fun quacking XD
Loved the game! It was a little complicated at first, but after the first battle I got the hang of things. The "trash" items being ironic was pretty funny and a good idea. Well Done!
We're glad you enjoyed :D
Super well polished game, wow!! The art is phenomenal and I love the creativity in all the ducks. The gambling element is very well done too! Fantastic game!
I'm so glad you enjoyed! :D
Hoping to add some more ducks once the Jam's over👀
Awww, cute.
Thank you!
I'll be honest, I think I made a really good decision sticking to your journey. Its absolutely insane that following what you've made for the past years or so have really shown your improvement. And its even more nuts when you've been making games through HTML instead of any game engine (unless this is different), but i digress.
So, after playing this for about 15 minutes, I can confidently say that this just had extremelyyy similar vibes to Super Auto Pets. But honestly, I think it does it slightly better in terms of the theme.
I might have to note that there isn't any biscuits involved in this game, which is fair, considering you may have taken the phrase instead of the physical object itself. But, I think what I can best say is... This game just executed super well.
Big fan of the audios, big fan of how I had to strategize what in the hell I had to do (lets forget the first 2-3 runs I did when I just ran in without anything), and big fan of just how 4 people were able to balance this all out.
It's insane to think that your team made a game that was just this great in general. Maybe I just needed to think more outside of the box myself to grant myself more ratings or at least eye appeals, but being beaten by this game will feel honorable.
I can already see a lot of potential for this to score high, so I'll contribute a bit more to its score to let it soar high!
Great work Quinten and your team. Take my stars, and a 10/10 from me!
Thanks!
I really appreciate you following my gamedev journey through the past year <3.
10th gamejam so far, worked on 11 games, 8 games fully done in HTML and web tech, and 2 utilizing it in some way, only 1 isn't using web isw and that was a challenge xd.
---
In this one I wasn't the team lead, but I wrote the async multiplayer backend using web technology too :P And it hugely pays off playing against other familiar names!
I also worked on snail racing this jam in which there's some HTML magic too, with embedded games inside the game as a secondary mechanic.
---
I'm in Jamlytics discord vc a lot of the time, so feel free to hop by if you want to talk. :D
I can tell your comment is mostly directed at Quinten, but nevertheless, thank you so much for all the kind words! :D
(I'm the lead dev, I used Godot for this project though, I don't have Quinten's crazy coding skills to work without game engine!) (but Quinten did code the Async Multiplayer backend management just with his HTML wizardry ofc)
Both of ya'll are awesome. I know it's kinda directed at Quinten, but I hope it didn't discourage. Still got major support for ya'll for making the game!
Still really appreciate the comment, made my evening <3
Marvelous game.
Can't believe I forgot about the "kahoot style nameslist" when making the name filter OMG xd
Glad you enjoyed playing
Lol it's fine, I like these kind of names, they're not offensive, and if a non-child friendly name like this is read by a child, it'll go over their head anyways
Few days ago a DnD player of mine named himself Mike Rotch lol
The game's visual style is beautiful
Yes it is.
Thank you so much!
I gambled my basic duck into garbage before trying the game because I'm smart like that! Thanks for giving away ducks even if you lose because I would have been unable to recover otherwise LOL. The quacks are so funny!
Free win for the enemy I guess xd
Glad you had fun though!
Glad you enjoyed! :D
Don't feel too bad about your little blunder, the game could really use a tutorial, but alass, time's short in the jam!
I feel as though anything I say here is redundant as everyone else has been saying it, obviously the art is peak, the music is peak, the quacks, peak. Surprised at how much unnecessary detail there is in the background with all the stuffed animals, that fact that they aren't fully copy pasted but have different face expressions is awesome. I never got into super auto pets, as I sucked at it, not much difference here lol. I do like how you've changed up the formula and allowed for two rows and looping through a row when a duck reaches the end, even allowing ducks from different rows to hurt each other once the path is clear, a very good expansion onto the original idea, a very well polished game overall even down to the itch page, really incredible work, great job to the whole team!
Awh thank you so much!! I had a lot of fun doing the stuffed animal variations, the alien bear is my personal favourite (And the blue one is a reference to a Carebears character, haha)
Personally I like the fox the most, reminds me of the game Tunic (or you know.. just foxes in general lol)
It was definitely worth the effort :)
Thank you so much for your kind words! :D
I was worried we might get some people disliking how much inspiration I took from Super Auto Pets, but I'm glad to see you're enjoying what we did with the concept :D
I'm ofc super Lucky to have such talented artists as Spook and Scarly by my side to make the sprites and music🎉 (and ofc Quinten who came in clutch making the multiplayer backend!)
Oh I love this game! Getting to see all the different duck art + stats and then gambling them away, perfection! Art is great, music and SFX as well! The ducks quacking to the soundtrack just a cherry on top. Hope you guys keep working on this after the jam. Great work!
So glad you enjoyed! :D
I definitely hope to add some more ducks (and a tutorial!) once the Jam's come to a close
