So good! The dithering effects and animations are amazing! Nice work

Damn, that's a deep game. Also, those dithering animations are so cool.

Such a distinct and unique art style (I wish I can do pixel art this awesome). The story is also great, feeling like an cool adventure in a very unique setting as well. The game is pretty long too, so bad roll can really really hurt (either lost crewmate or a game over), I guess it is to depict the difficulty of the journey? but it does feel quite horrible, the game is quite long too so it can take a bit to get back to where you want (at least the random events do spice things up a bit).
The writing is great as well. I had a fun time with it

Art style looks amazing!

This is amazing, the art, music, story, sound effects. I'm impressed with the amount of polish in a 7 day game jam, great work all around!

For sure, the game with the best soundtrack I have played. I never really played this story games, but I was really into it. Almost made it with my whole crew the second time around, but ended up losing one to the winds. I just have a question, what does gaining the favor of one of the "teams" do? I gained all 3, and it didn't seam to make a difference. Also, the end was a bit anti-climatic.

Developer

Hey thanks for playing! Did you play the full downloaded verison? There is a full ending finale! Depending on if a faction has your favor or not it completely changes it! Lmk what you think of the ending and hopefully its less anti-climatic.

What a fascinating game! Right off the bat, the art-style is incredible. The pixel art, the color palette, dithering, and the lore just gives it a strong, psychedelic feeling. I also just love text rpgs and it's great seeing one presented in this format with such a high degree of polish.

Really like the style and execution on this one!

Whoa what a journey!! Not sure how many outcomes there are, but loved the one I got (thank you turkey friends). The writing & art were really on point and there was a really nice balance of silly and evocative and creepy vibes. Great work!!

Developer

Hey, thank you for playing it through until the end! Really appreciate the kind words.

Super solid entry! Art is brilliant! The writing is funny (and at times genuinely pretty interesting). Didn't get round to finishing it, but it's absolutely one of my favourite games of the jam so far.

Submitted

Really cool, I love the visual style and artwork!

Downloaded the game cause it said in its description that only the download version had the ending, but as soon as I sailed off and came upon my fist choice for what to do on the boat (a rat was causing trouble) this popped up.

Developer

Hey! I am so sorry this happened! I instantly realized this was an error upon adding the full version. I just posted a patch! Hopefully, if you are willing to try again, you will enjoy the full experience!

I tried the game again! Loved the narrative and little challenges! I lost a crew member in a storm, but then I did a fun test for the Brigade and had a moment of connection with its captain, then I was caught in a gravy vortex and started back on the tutorial. This was very fun! The music changed pretty fast, but I liked the different tracks! Very funny worldbuilding. Good job, team!

I cannot understate how much I appreciate the color ordered dithering. I have so many questions about how the art for this game was developed, so needless to say, I loved it! Text based adventures are great and often under-represented. Amazing work.

Yo! Artist for the submission here, this style of graphics is actually super quick to make! First block it out in blender, I used the ocean modifier for the gravy sea. Dumb down the export resolution, then import into Aseprite. Aseprite has a really cool function for indexing the colors, so all you have to do is load ur palette, then go to sprite -> color mode -> more options and you can choose the level of dithering.
The art style is one of my faves, so thanks for your interest! Hope you have a good one :)

Wow! So the background I assume is a set of images or gifs? I assumed it was a shader, very useful info, thanks!

This is probably my favorite one so far. So silly and funny - you guys NAILED the theme (sailing on a gravy boat for example). I like the random choices and stat rolls - Only 2 runs, but I had fairly different encounters enough to be memorable. Do some outcomes just lead to death? Or is it a certain number of failed checks?

The music and art is great and really work together to set the ambiance. Favorite moments are dying to the voices in the storm, and the Biscuit Brigade absolutely destroying the cabin boy, just murked him.

Only feedback is it would be nice to see your crew stats before you decide on a choice.

Thank you so much for the kind words <3! I 100% agree. If I had one more day to work on it I wanted to add a sort of menu that always lets you see your crew whenever. Writing the dialogue took probably about 80% of the game's development, though, and ran out of time. Maybe in a post-jam update!
No scenarios 100% lead to death. Every scenario is survivable just some scenarios happen to be harder. Lol just like your poor cabin boy getting 100 cannonballs to the face. Thanks for playing!

I always love a good text based game with random chance involved with the decisions. The aesthetics and the audio are great! I enjoyed the game!

The visuals and audio are great. Usually I glaze over with text adventure, but this kept me in.

This was such an awesome and interesting game! I'm usually not a fan of these games about reading but the music and visuals tied it all together. The sound also was super juicy. Overall great job!

Well done game! Love the audio, but I don't like to read 😄Overall, really good game!

Super interesting submission. Love the idea of picking different crewmates and figuring out what the best course of action is based on stat rolls haha.
