How does the game fit the theme?
All those cheap meals belong to one place, OUR STOMACH. Run, Fight, Risk it all! don't let anyone take our precious half-priced bento!
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
We used skybox, vfx assets from the assets store, and some system package like Audio by Hellmade.

Really like the 2.5d perspective, fighting over the bento is comical, don't like how hard it is to hit the other hungry customers and it feels like I'm running on ice.

Visually the game is really cool. Gameplay is ok, but actually hitting your opponents is kinda hard and unreliable.
Also I was instantly reminded of a somewhat old anime named Ben-To =D
Aaaaaaaa, someone notice our reference! Ah yesss, we received lot of feedback about the hit-box, we will take the feedback and try our best post jam. Thanks for playing!
Loved the style of the game, 2.5D looks great here. If I could suggest one thing, maybe a subtle visual indicator for collectible items, so players can notice them without it being too precise.
Cute, fun and very simple to understand. Punching is essentially useless though, enemies run too fast.
Very cool 2.5D concept, 10/10 would give this girl their bentos again
I see ton of people gave the same feedback, it's a valid improvement plan for us. Thanks for playing;
Nice to see 2.5d still being done well. Not my kinda game but a cool entry. As Milkman Dani would say... Very Cool!
Salute to Milkman Dani... Thanks for playing the game!
Heh, good stuff. I'll always like the 2d sprites existing in 3d worlds. Good work!
Really fun game, it's a wild competition for the biscuit lol, the npcs are really well programmed, I think you made a great job in this, my only complaining is about aiming. I don't know exactly how to hit the npcs, sometimes I'm really near to them and the hit does anything, and sometimes I manage to hit them. Other than that, really fun game and the visuals are cool as well, but again: good job with the NPCs AI, I know how this can be really difficult.
That was fun. I thought the movement felt responsive and I liked how the NPC react when you punch them.
The is a fun little game. Love the graphics and the style. 2.5D is always a nice style that, for some reason, still looks good after all these years. The pacing of the game is also nice, and there's a story as well. Good job.
For some suggestions. I think it would be way better if we knew where and when each bento spawns in. Currently, it's down to pure luck if a bento spawns in your vicinity. I circled the whole arena, just not finding a single bento spawn near me for almost half a minute, and that's a bit frustrating. Consider adding something like a pointer or minimap? I would also say needing momentum for a strike feels quite unreliable, and given how floaty the movement is, stealing bentos from enemies felt quite random, and for most of the time, it's not even worth the effort doing so.
Anyway, with all that said, I think this is still quite a nice entry. Good job and keep up the good work!
Thanks for that! We will take your suggestion for the bento spawner and information for player. We wish had more time to polished more and more for the fighting to and give far more better combat experience. Thank you so much for the insight!
Really good implementation and idea! Nice touch on the short comic story...always great to see the backstory of a game! This has a lot of potentional with skills and upgrades.
Quick Suggestion:
Overall a great submisison! Congrats!
Ah thank you for your suggestion! I do find the less friction made some people lost the control and pretty frustating. We trying to create a janky wanky cartoonict fighting and movement, and i see there's lot thing we must adjust. Try to made it better with this suggestion. Thanks for playing!
Think Brawl stars but with goofy pixel art characters. Loved this game its not your run of the mill, average Brawling and V.S Game its Fun enjoyable and most of all made in 1 week (that's insane). I had a lot of Fun playing this, Rated 10/10 :D
Please here's my game, do try it and be sure to comment your thoughts and Rate the game :D
Racookie Heist
The art and music are surprisingly cute and cozy for a brawler!
It was fun to just wail on NPCs lol
The movement felt pretty slippery and out of control (which might've been what you were going for)
Took me a bit to realize you needed to build up some momentum to punch effectively, but it was pretty fun to just ram into enemies
Good work! I love the music, super chill for the beat down I was giving to the other bento thieves haha.
Love it!
Art was my favorite part! Also found myself not playing the objective and just wanting to hit things lol
Art is silly and sfx are very goofy. The control is a little wonky and slippery tho. And hitboxes seems not work as intended sometimes. But the vibe is good and the game is funny.
Visually very appealing, the idea of running for food is well thought out, but I found it difficult to hit things.
lovely artsyle a fun mix of 3d and 2d, the enimies were a bit hard to deal with but the main gameplay loop was fun and easy to understand
Thats so fun! i really love the art style and the overall chaotic vibe, keep it up!
I love the mix of 2D and 3D in the visuals. The game is chaotic and fun. The punch feels a bit ineffective though
