The introduction sequence up to the title screen was made for the week-long GB Showdown shortly before GB Compo 2025, but I intentionally started a couple of weeks later on this jam to make up for it.
Intro music and comm chatter sound effects were commissioned for the game.
Other music and sound effects are from bought assets.
Made in GB Studio using shin's Shmup Reloaded and gearfo's Fade Street plugins.

I'm late to the party, but heres my two cents:
I haven't played a lot of GB games so I'm quite ignorant to the "games that defined the system" or "what games were like on the system". That said, the game is very pretty given the style its going for. The writing is cute but after seeing the first few lines 5 times (I was testing things out), it wore out its welcome. The sound effects were a good touch but 10 minutes after playing, I'd be hard pressed to point any of them out in particular.
Its a gamejam so I knew there were would be a hard time limit to push things out the door but the game is very empty. There aren't many enemies to shoot/dodge and that created moments where I'm just waiting for the next thing to happen. Again. And again. And again. Combined with my previous issue, having a built cheat code was a godsend. By the time I got to the second level I was facetanking hits and healing through it.
Damn, that's quite the game!First of all, it's beautiful for a game boy!
On par with commercial games!
Then, it's the just the right balance of difficulty to make you continue to play, even when failing.
Congratulations, it's a very good game!Tested on real hardware with oled screen, and it's gorgeous!
Thank you so much! You're much too kind. I'm glad the difficulty felt right, as it can be hard to judge once you've played it as many times as I have!
I was impressed you managed to put together a game in 5 hours! That's a small window for a fully working concept.
Well, I guess other may find it easy because I'm not good at shoot them up, and as I tried to read everything while playing... well, let's say I lost a lot of lives = P
Yeah, 5h is really short (2h Friday night, 3h sunday night) but on the other hand, I spend maybe half an hour on paper beforehand to put my ideas and clearly know where to go.
Plus the game is awfully simple, the positions you can go to are limited and always the same, there is no collision or anything, no sprite pool, and barely any game logic, so, the perfect kind of game to do in such a short amount of time = )
Oh, and a good decade or two programming too, that helps a lot XD
It is a call back to the classic Gradius gameboy games with a lovely anime twist, and a gorgeous sense comedy.
My desire to play a full release is MAXIMUM!!!!
Thank you!
