I feel you there. I personally liked it when it gets a little intense in the beginning by increasing the spawn rate, but many play testers complained that they didn't like being bombarded by enemies so early on, at least, not while the shooting rate is as low as it is. I think what I might try is to increase the movement speed of the demons so you can't just run away from them. Great recommendation. And thank you very much for playing our game!
