Combat felt mostly good and the weapon variety definitely spiced things up from round to round. I only say 'mostly' since my first run I got the melee baguette item, which seemed underpowered. The main thing I noticed was that it didn't seem to hit and knockback the floaty guys as I would have expected. My favorite gun that ultimately pushed me through to the end of the game was the croissant. Seemed to have good balance all around.
I love that y'all were able to get a boss in the mix. It provides strong motivation to go charge up your toastiness in the dungeon before heading into the final battle. I did encounter a weird bug in my boss fight. I had gotten their HP all the way down, but then the HP bar started going negative with the 'lich' muffin continuing to fire at me. After sticking around for a sec to see if I had a second form coming my way, I stumbled upon the finale bread, so luckily I could still claim the W.
After figuring out how it worked, the toastyness does seem like a cool mechanic. It should definitely get a bit more explicit instruction in the game, however. The immediate slow-down effect was great intrinsic feedback that I done goofed. The insta-kill some time afterward was not so clearly tied to that overcooked event.
Overall pretty fun! The multi-modal boss fight was a very cool encounter. Also liked that final bread collection sequence.
