How does the game fit the theme?
In The Last Crumb, your glow is both your health and your only source of light. Every step deeper into the ruins forces you to risk that glow...spending it to survive traps, reveal hidden paths, and fend off enemies. The farther you push into the darkness, the greater the secrets and rewards, but the dimmer Crumb becomes. It’s a constant balance of safety versus sacrifice, embodying the spirit of “Risk it for the Biscuit.”

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

Very enjoyable game! 3.04 was my time at the end of to be continued... I enjoyed this game a lot! From visuals to gameplay, this is a very unique game I can see a very far future in! Great job.

Developer

Aahhh Wiwiwi! Thank you so much for your kind works and thanks for playing!  Awesome time, its not the fasted but its still impressive! This feedback makes me excited to keep going and produce a much more polished game!

The visuals are so good, the concept is really neat and its really enjoyable, the little things on the edge to tell you fi you can go or not are top for clearlity. My only problem was that the yellow bar goes low too fast if you are exploring, once you know where to go you can speedrun it tho!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! We are so glad you enjoyed it.  And thanks for your feedback! Yeah, definitely something we need to look into... balancing the glow "health" bar.  We didn't mean for the game to be speedrun but after a few of our friends tested it and some of the community here on itch, we were pleasantly surprised by this! Know we have more to think about.

The idea is fun, but I didn't quite understand how it worked, good game!

Developer

Thank you for playing and for your feedback! We shall look to add some sort of tutorial in future developments ensure the objective is clear.

Thank you so much 🤗 Glad you enjoyed our game. 🤗

The game design was incredible, I really loved it ! The fact that the level spawns piece by piece, the hurry to remind the labyrinthic level etc.. Well done ! :)

Developer

Thank you so much 🤗 Glad you enjoyed our game. 🤗

This fits the theme greatly and the overall design and game feel is amazing. Can't believe you've done that in a weekend and for your FIRST game jam too. Amazing work. I really like how you added a speed run competition too, sadly I have a pretty bad memory and I am always running out of light :(.  Oh also that main menu design was very unique!
Overall a great game, my only feedback would be to try and make the movement more intuitive (but I dont know how). Well done!

Developer

Thank you so much for your kind words. 🤗 This game jam community is actually really amazing and motivational! 🙌 Haha, yeah we got a bunch of our friends to try the game out and get some live feedback and they quickly turned it into a speed running competition, so we thought it would be cool to get some of the community to try it out too, you should give it a go and post a score. 🤗
Yeah, quite a few people include my fellow developer has had a problem with the movement too, we have a few ideas we would like to try out and hopefully get some feedback from outside of the jam too. Again, thank you so much for your feedback. 💛

The concept is super unique and really fun to play. I loved how it perfectly fits the theme. Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much for your feedback. 💛

Really nice I love the fact that you are the light and have to balance seeing the map and not dying also the things that follow you are cool but there are to much for my liking Great game I really like it :)

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the game 🤗 Haha, maybe we make the flying things less and more scary 😜 You'll have to stay tuned for the next update. 💛

Sounds good I’m waiting :)

Really nicely done!  I thought the way that things got revealed would be annoying at first but the design was thoughtful to not make there be too much stuff going on which would make it overwhelming, and the fact that some levels were visited again made remembering easier.  Really enjoyed unraveling the puzzle!

Developer

Thank you so much for you feedback. Glad you enjoyed our game. 🤗

dzamm this game is cool, I love the art and gameplay though the objective is unclear at first. it just REALLY needs louder bgm cause I heard a few notes but they were so weak and rare. maybe a volume mixer would fix that. overall very nice submission def one of the most wellmade ones

Developer(+1)

Firstly, I'm definitely changing how I type "damn" because "dzammmm"😏.  Thank you so much for playing! 🤗 Quite a few players also expressed that the objective was unclear at the start, we hope to make this more intuitive in future builds, perhaps a mini on-the-run tutorial but not sure how just yet...I've added it to the our list! 🫡 Also, great suggestion, we definitely need a volume mixer, also on the list!

Wow, such a cool game and super interesting concept. I have never really played a game like that before and can't believe you were able to make something like this so quickly! Great job!!!

Developer(+1)

Such kind words man, thank you so much for playing!🤗 its so reassuring when you read feedback like this.  We also didn't think we were going to make the deadline, the last minute grind was real 🫠 we were on like 4 hours of sleep over 2 days.😵

Cool movement idea..and so cool how the glow let's things around appear.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing and sharing your experience with us🤗 I must commend my fellow developer(zimo8), he really brought the movement/glow concept to life🫶  We are so thrilled you enjoyed it man!😃

Submitted(+2)

Clever concept! I got lost... the light is cool, but I ended up being overwhelmed by the options. I've never been great at mazes though. Still, nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing🤗  And thank you for this feedback. So, we have been thinking to perhaps add more to Crumbs toolkit, which in theory should allow for better decision making when faced with multiple options. Your feedback here is confirmation that we need to explore this to see if we can balance the stress and fun🫡

Submitted(+2)

Interesting idea, it took me a while to remember which key was responsible for movement in a given direction, maybe it would work better if the camera angle was more rotated to suggest that up is up, has potential for further development. Nice work :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing!🤗 I hear you hey, we definitely have plans to correct the movement experience. Most people seem to be having an issue with it. And thank you for the camera angle suggestion🫡

Submitted(+2)

We might be looking at a potential winner here boys !!

Developer(+1)

Eyyyy! Let's goooo! 🙌 Wow thank you so much for the kind words man! Honestly this experience has been enough to make us feel like winners😭 thanks for playing the game 🤗

Submitted(+2)

Really liked this one. It took me a bit to get used to the movement and understand how to navigate through the levels, but the idea was really cool.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing! 🤗 Majority of the people who have tested it seemed to have the same issue with the movement, myself included😂 we definitely have plans to correct this for a better user experience.

I think it is just very tricky to move into nowhere, it is something that we are as players not actually used to do. But, it is what is the unique part of the game.

I think you used ready made assets ? I think if you would further work on this, you should definately make your own assets or find an artist that can modify those assets. so you can just make each of the parts of the maps have more visual indication where you can move. Some of the tiles were flat ground and even if you had the indications on the screen, it did not really help with planning ahead,  Think modified assets could maybe help with that (but, I am also just guessing)

But I also really liked the visuals. I think the way you animated the moving pieces of the map was really cool.

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback! 🤗 Yes, that is such a great idea to have the environment suggest movement to the player. 🙌 We will try to modify the assets or even build our own going forward...I mean my fellow Developer @Mampadda literally learnt game development in 2 days, she'll figure something out. 😜
