Description
I thought of a game where you play as a detective who helps a person named Kelsey find their younger sister, named Skye, who has gone missing!
It had been many months since Skye went missing, after an incident where Skye and Kelsey's parents were seemingly murdered, not only was the killer still unidentified, but the police weren't making any progress in finding Skye, and Kelsey was getting sick of it. That's where you (The Detective) come in! Kelsey has requested the Detective to help them find their lost sister and their parents' murderer. The priority is to find Skye first.
You must investigate any places where Skye might have been. For now the only lead you have is a picture of her (the theme picture) that was taken that one summer night, when she went missing.
This story is darker than the mickey mouse power of friendship stuff I usually write but it's not that dark I think right
------ THE SONGS, IN ORDER -----------
- Last Seen
This is the main theme, it would play during the intro and probably some other important parts of the game! This was the first song I made from which I got the leitmotifs to use in the others.
- Looking Into It
This is the investigation theme! It plays during the sections where you have to investigate the places where Skye might have been, I tried to make it sound kind of melancholic to emphasize how Kelsey must be feeling after not being any closer to finding their sister after this much time!
- Then THAT Means
After the investigation is over, you must gather all the clues you managed to find, then try to piece them together and deduce what it could all mean! This track plays during the "logic" sections of the game. I tried to make it sound confusing at first with an odd time signature, which then changes to a more coherent time signature to signify how everything about the clues you gathered makes more sense as you keep thinking.
- Kelsey
This track plays during the part where the Detective and Kelsey manage to find Skye! The Detective calls out her name, she turns to look at them and her face suddenly turns pale, and her look changes to one of horror as she sees Kelsey (0:58). Kelsey stabs the Detective in the back (1:02) , killing them. At this point, the player now plays as Skye.
Turns out all this time, Skye was HIDING from Kelsey, the reason being Kelsey IS the murderer, and they have been looking for Skye all this time to prevent her from saying anything about it. Up until now Skye never said anything to anyone about this, she was hiding because she didn't want to believe her sibling was really the killer and was scared to tell the truth to the authorities.
- Unhide
"Unhide" were the last words the Detective told Skye, mostly meaning she had to stop hiding from the truth and actually tell the police about the crimes Kelsey had committed. As Kelsey is now standing in front of her with a knife, she starts to make a run for it, now set on facing the truth and accusing Kelsey with the authorities, and this track plays during that escape section of the game! The guitars that were present on every other track are absent on this one to signify the death of the detective. I would have probably made more than these tracks but didn't have time in the end
The game ends when you beat the escape section, Kelsey goes to jail, the Detective stays dead unfortunately. What happens after that? I don't know its like 4am right now i wanna go to sleep
shoutout to muse sequencer and surge XT i love muse sequencer and surge XT
Message from the artist
As always i appreciate any feedback anyone can give me so i can keep improving!! Also thanks a lot to everyone involved in making ost jams possible!! I had a blast making this and i look forward to listening to everyone's entries :)
Theme

How does it fit the theme?
Well... Skye went missing one summer night I guess. Also I wrote the whole story based on what I saw on the picture theme, which is also the first clue you get about Skye's whereabouts in this imaginary game.

All songs have so much flavour, each one unique but connecting with eachother so fluidly. One of the best I've heard thus far, fantastic work!
WHAT A TWIST IN THE LORE! (Poor detective...)
I love the storytelling here. The uneasiness in "Keysey" was interesting. "Then THAT Means" has my heart tho with the cool piano chops and grooves. My critique would be that "Unhide" felt too bright for an escape sequence, although I do understand that it also represents Skye's resolve. Perhaps it could be separated into two clearer sections. One for escaping and one for when Skye resolves herself to do the right thing.
Just my opinion, though. Amazing submission and as I said, super strong storytelling.
Last Seen: Ooh great synths. I really love the sound and chords in the second half especially. Makes me think of an alternate take on Megaman Battle Network music somehow.
Looking Into It: Immaculate atmosphere. I love the lead synth,
Then THAT Means: I love the rhythm and percussion, they remind me of Secret of Mana (this song in general does). And then the chords between 0:35-0:45 gave me goosebumps. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon vibes are heavy in the second half, composition and instrumentation wise. This is my favorite track here, its so good.
Kelsey: Nice textures. This gets so trippy towards the end and I love it.
Unhide: The Battle Network vibes are in FULL FORCE here. Love it. Great chords, lots of energy.
Amazing ost, great work! Another fiumals masterpiece
Fun soundtrack! I liked Looking Into It the most! Great job :)
very cool blend of different genres, like guitar and chiptune-esqu sounds. Though it would normally scream Anamanaguchi for me, this totally found its own niche with its more layer back vibes and chilly atmosphere that had still some drive.
The storytelling can be heard very well and your songs stayed very cohesive but still with everything having its own identity. Hard to call out only one song as a favorite, since they all had a very cool vibe going on with some very cool sound designe.
Awesome job!
The storyline goes really well with the music and I like that you had deeper connections with time signatures and stuff.
I actually really love your mickey mouse power of friendship songs! They are some of my favorites in the jams! As such Unhide and Last scene were my favorites as they felt like they had the most of that kind of energy.
I still have your song "A Day in the Life of the Sun" on my permanent playlist because of how happy it is!

the soundtrack’s detective-noir vibe pulls you just right holy cow the bass is scratching me !! it’s atmospheric, emotional, and genuinely intriguing !!! nice work nice work AND THE STORYLINE????? prety ><
Loved those chords on Last Seen <3 great intro ! I always love how you build your melodies !
The investigation is less busy and leave place for that investigation time, great move there I feel.
OOH so bluesy/jazzy on Then THAT means, and yet you kept it in the vibe established before :D The ryhtm is so catchy! It still felt like investigation to me but in a more tensed way. So it make sense as the previous theme leaves place for exploration while this one implies tension and a notion of urgency about piecing everyrhing together. Well made.
Aaaaw plot twist ! Didn't see that coming haha ! I had a second listen while reading the description and the pitched chords must be so effective if I imagine it in game, at that moment 👌
Then again, very effective track for an end game escape phase with Unhide !
I feel like your storytelling has improved, or at least, it is carefuly crafted and impactful there ! Don't know if it's the new rating criteria or just that story you wrote but it makes your music even cooler than before , GGs !!
Edit : paying more attention to Then THAT Means on re listen, I barely noticed the time change and I can't right now put my head around it ^^, but it feels so natural. Amazing job !
This submission is oozing with style. From the smooth sounding guitars and synths to the funky time signature in "That THAT Means," to that cool little drum lead-in at around 0:26 in "Kelsey." - not even mentioning the meltdown at the end of that track. Solid, fun little submission with a cool story and a neat twist. Excellent work!
Last Seen: I love a good i-bVI chord progression! It works so well in so many settings, including this as a main theme. The rock-like sound is very well made, in particular I love the drums and bass and how you were able to get it to sound like a radio song. I’m very impressed so far!
Looking Into It: I think you certainly captured the melancholic vibe. When I listen to this, I imagine Kelsey outside looking up at the sky simply thinking. I really love the high-register twinkly sounds that bounce over the soothing leads - it all paints the picture of a starry night.
Then THAT Means: This is a really creative use of time signature as a tool to convey story elements. The jazz influence here helps add a sense of curiosity, mystery, and calm collectedness that works well for a “logic” section. Also I think that is a cool genre (I guess?) of video game music that totally makes sense to have, and I think this would be prototypical for that!
Kelsey: Wow I got chills as I read this part of the story just as the music started to warp. That was a really cool moment and was extremely creative and was an incredible story-telling element.
Unhide: Wow, this is a really fun and energetic track. The arpeggios and fast synthy elements are very impressive and my favorite part of this piece.
Overall: This was a really well-written story that was conveyed very expertly in a complete form in only 5 tracks - that is quite impressive. I think that in addition to earning full points for storytelling from me, I also think that the creativity with how you told the story through the music is extremely impressive! The composition and quality were also very on par with the high standard you set in the first track throughout. This is a great soundtrack and I really enjoyed listening to it! Wonderful job and thank you for sharing!
guys thank you for all the feedback!! sorry if I don't leave comments back on your submissions but I am listening and rating everyone back I just haven't been feeling confident in making comments bc I feel like I don't know what I'm talking about most of the time but I will rate every comment back for sure!!
Last Seen sounds like an ambient track to be lost to, and doesn't really set the tone of what you've described in the text: a central musical theme for a game with a heavy tone like trying to track down a killer. The track feels considerably more lighthearted -- still serious, but not on the side of I am trying to find justice for something very wrong and horrible that happened to us.
Looking Into It is very contemplative, and sets a good tone for any investigative work. It may express frustration at not getting closer (the guitar is really good at communicating that), but it can also communicate the gravity of a given situation. There is no room for error and this case is getting cold if we don't do a thing about it, or maybe it is already cold and we're fighting against all hope. Even when the synths and drums kick in, it does convey that desperate fight -- desperate isn't the right word. It's more, hope against all hope. When your C#minor -> F#minor bridge comes in, I still find it a touch too lighthearted for the subject matter. When it tones back down the gravitas is back.
Then THAT Means... I sense some very strong Ace Attorney influence. The bass and opening synth do give that sense of concentration and urgency in solving logic puzzles. The key shifts are sublime here, and they do convey the idea of cracking one's head to solve things, an air of mystery. This is your strongest track.
Kelsey. Now this is also an excellent cue to describe a massive plot twist where she is unearthed as the killer. It's slow, it's measured, it's methodical, the detune adds a level of chaos and confusion and extreme emotions associated with this scene.
Unhide got my chest pounding hard. It is a wonderfully tense, your life depends on this escape sequence with a very singable and memorable melody. I do put it up there in this OST, a very close second to Then THAT Means... . The jazz tonality works really well here and also throws me right back to noir films and thrillers where this music is front and centre. (Probably the thing that would seal the deal would be subtler, greater with finesse, but equally urgent, jazz drums.)
I have no complaints with the mixing.
This is an OST that does take a while to come into its own, but oh when it does, it really, TRULY does. There's a lot you've done in here that is simply delightful, and as such you should be proud. All the best in this jam!
THIS IS SOOOO FUN I LOVE IT
Amazing work as always! Then THAT means is definitely my favorite one, but all tracks are great!
Very great soundtrack, it has a lot of variety and it flows together very nicely !
With the theming, style and soundfonts that you use, it reminded me quite a lot of Ghost Trick's soundtrack (which is always a plus).
I really liked Last Seen, lots of different interesting sections that mesh very well, Looking Into It has a great atmosphere and is very immersive for your story, and Unhide finishes the album very efficiently with great energy. Very nice work, congrats (and very nice story too, that makes two of us for the detective setting from what I have seen for the moment) !
Loving how groovy this opening is, it's fun and spacious with AWESOME melodies and chord movements holy. Last Seen is a great song to come after with the catchy melodies continuing. The more somber vibe says a lot in terms of the OST's storytelling. I love all the elements in Then THAT Means, gave me huge DS era vibes which is always a joy. It felt like the mix was just a little bit busy, but still tons of fun. Not too much to say about Kelsey other than as a part of the story it works great. Unhide is a fantastic way to cap it all off, overall I absolutely love all the little textures you add to all these tracks that give them so much character. Your chord progressions and melodies are just so catchy and effortlessly fun, awesome, awesome work!!!
The soundtrack starts off strong, overall very nice composition. The setting of the game, especially "Then THAT Means" reminds me of ace attorney. I liked the sudden mood switch at "Kelsey", very cool. If I could give criticism it would be the fact that the soundtracks sound too happy for a detective game. I love your basses it sounds so delicious lol. Overall pretty nice!
