the dialogue and clear feedback and ui made it really fun! the ending with all the corgis was the best

only thing that slightly threw me off was that maze was a lot harder than the other locations, I started at the maze. I think I expected it to be similar in difficulty or have a build-up

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! The maze was initially like an experiment turned last location before we made the UI/stage selection a thing, but yes it also needed to be a bit clearer in the navigation.

Super happy you had fun with the game! <3

Very cute game! And fun too, the concept itself is very entertaining! Very straightforward gameplay, I only had a bit of a struggle in the maze because I couldn't really tell where I was going or if I had made progress through it (I kinda managed to get all the corgis there by sheer luck or what felt like it XD) The descriptions of the corgis are great fun too, very cute good boys, 10/10 would recommend.

I did notice after petting one of the corgis and continuing with the game that the text from the pet prompt showed up along with the new text on the following dialogue, but disappeared after. It did not impact the gameplay at all, though.

Developer(+1)

Super thank you for the comment! Glad you found it entertaining!

The maze ended up being a bit more confusing that intended, will be reworked, but I am glad you stuck through and that luck guided you haha

As for the dialog bug, it's probably fixable by adding the clear dialogs at the continue level, I had them at the start of the sentence (hence why it appeared "before" the next sentence. Much appreciated.

They are all cute good boys indeed. Very happy you had fun :D

Cute game! The maze was  particularly challenging to  navigate. Wasn't really clear on how to move forward. I think it'd help to add  some distinct land marks within the maze to help  orient yourself.

Great work overall!

Developer

Thank you so much for the comment! Yeah, the maze started as an experiment but needed a bit more clarity in the end. Landmarks would help a lot or even just enough distinction, will be a WIP.

I liked collecting all the corgwyn and the little slide display of them at the end.

The maze was a little difficult with knowing if I had gone to the right once, twice, or three times with there not being an animation on the little hands. I think just a flash or a finger animation would let me know I had selected it. That's the only thing I had a little difficulty with, but was still able to get through it.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the comment! Happy you enjoyed the game, the credits roll was my  favourite part as well!

The maze did end up being a bit unclear, it will be reworked for better navigation. Glad you were able to get through it regardless.

aww this game was really cute and it felt satisfying to find the different types of corgis. The maze felt a bit stagnant in terms of interaction, but I appreciate that you guys had 3 different locations to find the corgis. I loved all the mini descriptions of the corgis  (the love peninsula one lol), and I realized at the end that you can pet them and that small interaction made the corgis feel really alive!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I agree the maze could use a bit of retuning, and yes! the petting mechanic just had to be there one way or another, adds a lot to their personalities :p

Glad you found it cute and satisfying! Super appreciate the comment!

Developer(+1)

Hey Melody!! So happy to hear that this was a satisfying play, and you had a fun time collecting the corgis! (Also so glad you were able to enjoy the petting mechanic at the end!!)

The maze definitely needs a re-work, so we'll be going back to this portion specifically to clear up and tweak this scene!

Thank you so much for playing!

I LOVED THIS. It's small and simple but the joy it brings is plentiful. When I read the word CorgiDex I knew I was in for a good time. All of the corgis were fun and adorable, and the game radiates charm. The only thing  that confused me was trying to navigate through the maze. I suppose it does simulate how a real maze in the way that if you're unfamiliar with the maze's layout you'll be completely and utterly lost. So maybe it's a good thing I was confused.

In any case I found all of the corgis and completed the game! Well done and great job to everyone involved!

Developer(+1)

Mega thank you for the kind words!!! The CorgiDex was a wild thought that I knew I had to materialize :p
I do admit the maze could have used a bit of further differentiation and that will be worked on, but glad you kept going and found all of them!

I'm very happy you had a great time with the corgis! Charm and joy was precisely the vibe we were going for ~

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words Nox!! So glad this brought a little joy to your life as you played (that's our biggest goal <3).

The maze is definitely something we'd like to overhaul a bit, to make it a bit more of a clear experience, without taking away it's sense of challenge.

Fantastic job on helping the queen find all her corgis!!

This game is adorable! It's a cute, simple and polished experience. Loved that you could pet the corgis and that it didn't interrupt dialogue at all (I tried petting them during the final cutscene and it worked smoothly!). I think the maze was the most "engaging" bit because you had to deduce where the corgis were. I was surprised that there was an intricate quest system given that you only had to find Corgis. My favourite Corgis are Sir Woofaine (first one I found) and Will <3

Developer(+1)

Thank  you!!! I'm very happy you enjoyed the game and found it a polished experience. The petting mechanic was a must have IMO :p

And yeah! The quest system was mostly to track areas at first but it ended up underutilized, I saw many of players never even clicked that button so props to you for checking it out haha Glad you enjoyed and Sir Woofaine and Will will be here for you <3

Developer

Thank you so much Arkicade! We're so glad that you loved the petting mechanic and Sir Woofaine & Will. Indubitably the best choices. :)

Submitted(+2)

This game is absolutely cute!! A bit short, and the gameplay is a bit too simple (but that's ok, that's a jam after all), but the game was really engaging nonetheless! Love the corgis' names, and I am totally adopting Sir Woofaine and Pupton John!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and the comments!!! Sir Woofain and Pupton John would be very happy haha

Very happy you enjoyed and had a good time!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing!! Yes, our team did agree that the gameplay stood to benefit from longer, and more challenging gameplay. We were just rolling off of another longer, two week game jam a few days prior, so we were a little bit on the crispy side haha. So glad we were still able to create something we could share with everyone!

(Also we're drafting up those Pup Adoption papers as we speak! :D )

It's nice to see an entry made in the Narrat engine. I'd be curious to hear about the team's experience working with it! (I've been thinking of trying it out for smaller narrative-focused games)

Engine aside- I love that you put effort into a punny name and personality for every corgi <3 I think it would be fun to see that incorporated into the game a little more beyond interactions in the corgidex. The maze search was the most engaging past of the gameplay for me. Maybe a nice post-jam addition could be making the room searches a little more cluttered, and the corgis in those rooms a little more difficult to find?

Developer (2 edits)

Thank you for the comment!

Engine talk first: I find it very simple to use, especially for smaller narrative focused. The UI / viewport aspect is fully customizable on CSS and the rest is just typing, choices and config is yaml files. It comes with strings for translation and tools for tooltips, skills, dice rolls, questlogs, etc .
There's a game page but I'd recommend checking out the discord to see the state of the art and tests/showcases people do. I highly recommend for VN stuff especially if you want to shy away from ren'py for whatever reason.

Regarding the game: Super happy you enjoyed all of the corgies and their personalities! This was originally a simple 3-day project to chill down from another jam but there's been so much good reception that we're considering expansions and improvements. The room searches having more assets and the maze being a bit reworked  are well noted down.

Thank you for the feedback, glad you had a good time!

Developer

N.A.! Thank you so very much for not only your really kind comments, but for these really clear and helpful suggestions. Stuker and I had so much fun coming up with different corgis and I'd love to explore the idea of having more interactions with the existing ones (Corgi-actions, if you will).

We also totally agree, making the spaces more cluttered, and upping the challenge of the room would make the game feel more satisfying overall!

Thank you so much for playing!

Loved the corgi names! Great theme and well finished with start and end scenes

Developer(+1)

Thank you!! The end scene was my favourite to work on, gotta love a Corgi Credits Roll ~

Developer

Thank you so much Void Cat! Hugely appreciated for playing our game :)

I like how the story sets up, leading player to find the corgis. And the individual names given to them gives a nice touch. Simple and cute game!

Thank you for the kind words!! Happy you had a good time with the puppers~

Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed ~

Thank you so much, this is a huge compliment!! Thanks for playing <3

The different corgi designs and backgrounds are really cute! I liked how the maze's full layout was shown in the first part of the maze, it became more like a memory game (I'm really bad with mapping out a maze in my head while walking through it, so the map was really helpful HAHA)

Would have loved if there were more objects that we could check behind and having some false hiding spots!

Developer

Thank you!!! Really glad the map was helpful! The whole maze was a wild idea and the "map" a last day addition, I'm glad the memory element paid off (but will be making it more distinct in the future).

Will consider the false hiding spots! If we ever do a sequel/expansion they would be a fun way to keeping things fresh :P

Happy  you enjoyed!!!

Thank you so much for playing it!! We've definitely been discussing making the mechanics and visuals of the maze more clear, and a bit more challenging (but built-in challenge vs it being potentially confusing).

I also love the idea of making more false hiding spots!

Submitted(+2)

OMG they're all adorable !! I like the take on the hidden object genre, well done !!

Developer

Super happy you enjoyed!! Thank you for the kind words ~

Developer

Thank you so much!! Old 2000s Hidden Object games and point-and-clicks are beloved with our team, and it was so much fun bringing those old memories to life.

The corgis are very cute, the designer did a very well job designing them, The maze is also fun to play as well, I love how you put the maze in the start, Amazing work :>

Developer

Thank you kindly!!! Super happy you enjoyed the game and the corgis <3

Developer

Thank you so much Aquena! It was so much fun iterating on corgi ideas we had. So very glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+2)

I love that each corgi is a fleshed-out character with its own personality. It's clear that a lot of love and attention was put into designing each one! It left me wanting to see more of their personality in the game, before they disappear into the UI. The way they all showed up in the credits was great, because I got to see them living in the world again, taking their rightful turns on the throne :)

Developer(+1)

Yes! Yeahyankee did a fantastic job with the designs. The pet mechanic was added to see a bit more of them as they are the stars of the show but I agree they could feature even more, because they are the cutest. The credits roll scene was my favourite part to work on!!!

Super happy you enjoyed :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for these kind words! The pet mechanic & credits roll were awesome 12th hour ideas by Stuker and I'm so glad we added both. I love the suggestion to have them be more present in the world potentially, this is a really cool idea to think about how to implement!

Submitted(+2)

Such cute corgis!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!!! They are indeed ~

Thank you so much, this is a huge compliment Waterspirit!! I adore your art!

Awe thank you! ♡

A really cute game. The corgi's are all adorable, and the little descriptions about each one is fun. My only complaint is that the maze got a little confusing. Remembering the path from the beginning is a neat idea, but I think having a "forward" option at cross sections where you can move forward would have made it more clear what direction you were moving in. Great game despite that!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the comment! I agree with the maze being a bit too confusing, I was tinkering with the idea of adding more differentiation when I uploaded and now I see I should have implemented that aspect. Glad you had a fun time with it!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for your kind comments! Yes--we received a lot of wonderfully helpful feedback about the maze, so we'll be in a really good position to go back and give this puzzle more clarity!
