Description
all music made by me on fl studio and all art made by me on paint.net

i recommend listening with the scritch player in the itch page because youtube has weird audio compression and stuff!! there's also more info there about the game and ost

the STORY is in the MAIN PAGE because i don't wanna clutter the submission page up as it is a little lengthy, and i can't put pictures here :P

so instead, i will just put some facts about the songs here

1. A little town
- i made this one last and i made this song intentionally calm because this is before everything crazy in the story starts

- this song is inspired by U TRIED THAT THING WHERE UR HUMAN by Quadeca and i even sampled that same song here!

2. Let's make this one count
- this was the first thing i made when the jam started

- this song is heavily inspired by Why? by Mid-Air Thief which i first listened to LITERALLY just a few hours before the jam started and immediately wanted to make a song like it LMAO

3. CLUSTER
- this song is pretty much just a remix of Let's make this one count

- the guitars at the end of this song is actually inspired by 0mni and trippy's song Get Us Outta Here! from their crunchtime 04 submission

4. Venturing on
- i don't really have anything to say about this song tbh...

5. ROUGH WATERS
- this is the song that is the most inspired by the album Vanisher, Horizon Scraper by Quadeca. the intro for this song is HEAVILY inspired by CASPER from said album, and the transition to the more chill 11/8 part was inspired by the bridge in THE GREAT BAKUNAWA from the same album arrangement wise (3:35, timestamp in the song so yknow what i'm talking about)

- this is the song i'm most proud of in this ost!!

6. VOYAGE
- this is the song i'm the 2nd most proud of in this ost, though still really close with ROUGH WATERS...

- this song is heavily inspired by Safety! by acloudyskye. i don't even listen to acloudyskye, i just really really enjoy this one song of theirs

- the placement of this song in the story is very inspired by Finale in the undertale ost

- i made this after i made Let's make this one count, but before i started working on this song i felt sooo uninspired with the demos i was making, and when i made the second half of the song, i was so proud of what i made that it pushed me to create the other tracks, so thank you VOYAGE

Message from the artist
very very VERY proud of this and is definitely my best work yet!!

i also focused more on listening experience rather than the songs sounding like they could be in an actual game

Theme

One Summer Night
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
for the text theme, i was inspired to do a "last week of summer" kind of thing with the story, and with the picture theme, i was inspired by the drawing having an ocean and made it an important place in the "game's" story, i also placed a bunch of water sounds all over the ost :P

Allllrrriiigghhhttt I had to work up to it but full marks from me. The big buildup in make this one count really won me over. This has been a fun neat fusion of more 16 bit gamey music and genuine synthwork.

Great work on this jam

Quite the creative collection of songs. Very cool.

Track 2 took me by surprise with how rad it is.

Really awesome work, creative as well, very well mixed.

Very cool!!! I loved the rock vibes of a lot of the tracks. Very fun to get in the zone to, and fits well with the game I think!

rough waters goes hard, love the odd time signature, also venus from earthbound spotted

Submitted(+1)

Awesome ! Cool time signature, cool sound design !

Submitted(+1)

huge fan of the unconventional use of time sigs here!! rough waters especially goes HARD especially during the breaks!

solid work!! :D

As usual your unique musical voice is coming through strong here, like the back and forth between familiar realistic bossa nova and huge future bass in voyage. This complete disregard for genre and throwing together all sorts of sounds, signatures, and inspirations into a single album that has no right being this cohesive gives the impression of someone who loves music as a whole. You cooked out of your mind with all of these like damn :sob:

The funky time signature was done really well in ROUGH WATERS. I can see and hear why it's your favorite one.

I like the variety between the different tracks.

I do have a criticism of the track "Let's make this one count" however. It sounds like there are a few points in the song where you have different voices clashing with each other, and It sounds dissonant. For example, there is a point in the song where the guitar is playing the chords C#minor -> C minor -> B minor. But during the C minor chord, the piano is playing an E natural instead of an Eb. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but I hear it as if the piano played a wrong note. I personally would double check all of the notes in the track to make sure that there aren't any weird clashes like that, and I think doing this would make that track sound much better.

really good soundtrack! just super solid overall

Awesome soundtrack! I really liked your use of synths and the sound effects scattered throughout each track. You also do a great job explaining what each track is written for and they totally fit within their descriptions. This is a fantastic submission.

Submitted(+1)

I loved the synth going crazy with the filter on "Venturing on", also crazy breakcore on "ROUGH WATERS". It isn't as eclectic as your crunchtime 4 submission honestly, but this is a banger.

Developer(+1)

thank you!!! i will be rating ur submission!!

Fantastic job, I love the soft lofi synth sounds throughout! Is there a specific VST you are using for these because I might have to get it! There are so many little details that come in through each song (I hear that EarthBound sample in ROUGH WATERS) that make this soundtrack really fun to listen to. The use of breakbeats also gives this entry a unique sound compared to many of the others I have heard so far. My favourite track is probably A little town for the intro alone, I really like the subtle swelling pad in the background and again that synth tone is really nice.

Developer(+1)

firstly, thank you! no, i didn't use a specific vst for those synths, the synth sound is really just a filtered saw wave with some noise (i'm assuming it's the plucky ones you're talking about like at the start of Let's make this one count) that you can pretty much make with any synthesizer like 3xosc in fl studio or serum, though the one in A little town is actually an instrument from the earthbound soundfont! iirc it's called electric piano

Submitted(+1)

Thanks I'll have to go through another EarthBound soundfont phase now!

Submitted(+1)

This is a truly unique listening experience, very different from anything I’ve heard so far. It’s explosive and emotional at the same time. I really enjoyed the sounds you chose, the overall level of production. This is a very solid submission. Amazing job!

Submitted(+1)

i got jumpscared by the second track but like. in a good way. this is really good!!!!! also earthbound.sf2 venus my beloved

Submitted(+1)
